The phrase ‘non violent drug charges’ is so fucking stupid because drug charges are already nonviolent. Anything violent related to drug charges would be a separate charge, and the only reason violent crimes associated with drugs are handled differently is because of the unjust prosecution of drug charges designed to target those most vulnerable. The phrase is meant to capitulate towards those who believe that most people in prison are beyond redemption, reassuring them that the Bad Scary Hard Criminals still dont deserve rights. Stop playing the game. Drug charges are nonviolent charges. Say that.
