A tiny journal-ish gif-comic from a few tweets I made last night! I believed this kind of stuff until I was 14 or so, which is pretty old in retrospect…
There used to be more but I accidentally saved over it :/
I did manage to recover one other page, though!
(the end!)
this is my favorite thing that I have ever seen in my entire life
Oh I Love this
That’s what having an imagination is all about. That’s why some people don’t like other people who have one.
I love this
Dogs Trained to Detect Covid-19 Have 95% Success Rate in Early Trials
@thebibliosphere Will you ever post pictures of your house? Have you before? I’m so curious based on your descriptions but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture.
Only ever small things, usually when the dogs are around to be photogenic.
Claudius aka “Cloudy” by all accounts a brave and noble pup, is very good at being photogenic. Though even he has reservations about going into the basement:
Ignore the ominous glow. It’s nothing.
It’s just the sun making the hideous ocher walls glow. (I forget what I was flipping off, possibly one of the falling ceiling tiles) Fun story, the house has a giant copper earthing rod running through it, and the previous owners attached the drop down ceiling tiles to it. Via the metal frame. Yes we did find out cause I noticed sparks/flames in that far corner near the possessed microwave that likes to turn itself on and off, thanks for asking. (It is now safe.)
On the surface it’s honestly nothing all that special at a glance, it’s just 90s suburban beige with hand me down furniture. When we first moved in everything we owned actually fit in the living room:
And we still don’t have that much more furniture tbh, we’re slowly trying to replace things but between my medical bills and the house throwing up fun curve balls like “the wiring was installed by a madman” and “plumbing, how does that work”, it’s a slow process.
Actually this one is a funny story (for me), so some of you might remember when NONE of the water was draining in the house (which is separate from the story about how the plumber lost his knife in the pipes so now we have a switchblade lodged in the pipes because yes this has happened to us twice now) and ETD had to go into the basement bathroom—which the previous owner built himself so of course nothing works like it’s supposed to—and try to break the trap seal in a last ditch attempt to drain the bathtub.
Pictured: ETD about to face off with 70+ years of pipe deluge. Also yes the door is crooked, yes the walls are also crooked, and yes, the ceiling is … you know what, you get the idea.
At first we thought it wasn’t going to budge, and the trap had not only been painted shut but also maybe welded. And then from the other side of the house I heard a sound like dying whale song rattling through the pipes, a started “AUGH” and then the bathtub on the main floor drained, leaving behind the vague outline of a headless skeleton in its wake.
ETD came out of the basement looking like a B rate swamp monster, carrying a bucket I will not describe the contents of because even just thinking about it makes me feel vaguely nauseous. Also yes, this is the bathroom where I found tampons in a hole in the wall. It’s still in vast need of better renovation but at least there are no holes in the wall now. Or skeleton shapes.
We have managed to replace a few things though, like the murderous washer that liked to walk over concrete floor and pull its own plug out, which would then jettison into the sink full of water where the water drains out.
That was fun.
And the oven, which the control panel fell out of:
And ETD had to jury rig it back in place with scrap metal until we were able to afford the new oven we have right now:
The phrase “safe as houses” takes on a whole new terrifying meaning in this house, it really does.
We’ve replaced parts of the furnace several times (thanks to tumblr pulling through for us when it died in the dead of winter *cries*)—after we cleared out the tins of varnish stashed away in a hidden alcove. And we will eventually need to replace the water heater but we’ll get to that. Along with the welded shut door that goes to nowhere.
Still working on replacing the AC after it died 2 years ago though … and the window unit we bought which fell out the window into the window well below.
This thing falling out the window sounded like a bomb going off. It echoed.
But we’re getting there!
We have managed to make some nice changes, like my office, which I’ll try and post pics of soon, and also the living room has a nice homey feel to it. Especially around Christmas time:
Which of course Legolas really helps to pulls together:
He see’s you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake.
Legolas is not just for Christmas no, oh no, he keeps on trend with the seasons.
Although I did let him keep his lights.
Fun fact, if you do happen to have a life size cardboard cutout of Orlando Bloom in your house, make sure to turn his lights off before you go to bed.
It makes things slightly less pants wettingly terrifying when you get up at 3am to get a glass of water.
But if and when we finally do start to make proper renovations—instead of just running around trying to put out fires (literal or otherwise)—I will totally be up for letting you all see, complete with before and after shots, and everything else we find in between.
We’re quite a bit away from being able to do that yet, although fingers crossed it can be soon. I’d really love to restore this house to something that is both safe and beautiful because despite all the absolute bullshit, it is a great house. It’s solidly built at its core, and it’s in a great location. It’s just been badly treated and needs a lot of love and care. And maybe I anthropomorphize things too much, but I can relate to that. It’s home, y’know?
Glowing elves and all.
Impromptu house tour for people asking “what kind of hellscape” I’m living in. It actually just looks like a normal 90s renovated beige house. It’s only when something goes wrong and you need to take apart part of a wall that you realize it’s a fecking nightmare. The previous owners went to great lengths to hide the bullshit levels of their shenanigans.
Human: Deal.
Fey: Very well. When you return home tonight, your mother will be in pristine health again. It will be like she never fell ill at all. Even the memory of her suffering will fade…
Human: Thank you so much. She means everything to me.
Fey: I know, I know. Let’s hope the price wasn’t too much for you after all… Only time will tell.
Human: So, when do we start?
Fey: …If I may ask you to elaborate?
Human: You said you wanted my firstborn.
Fey: Yes? And you agreed?
Human: Yeah, so, when do we start?
Fey:
Fey, blushing: Ah.
So good. It deserved a some art.
Why would you hide this in the tags !!!!
I heard a very similar story from a 19-year-old white trans guy. He and 700 other peaceful protesters were surrounded and tear-gassed by police while walking away from the main protest area. Some of the cops laughed at and took video of some of the protesters who were crying. When the 19-year-old was detained, the officers debated amongst themselves about whether he was a man or woman. They said “You never know these days. Maybe he’s an alien.” He was then searched by a female officer and placed on the bus for women. His zip ties were so tight his had turned blue. He spent 2 hours with them on and asked 5 officers to help him before a 6th officer took the zip ties off and got him medical attention. His hand was numb until the next morning.
There was no reason for this to happen. He’s lucky he is white.
Believe black people when they tell you the abuse they have suffered at the hands of police. And then take action to make sure it never happens again.
[id: Twitter thread by @ juliacdupuis on June 4 2020. It reads: “I was arrested on June 2nd, 2020 with around 100 other protesters in Los Angeles. While I was ziptied and facing the wall, two male officers joked behind me about my gender presentation: “Do you think it’s a female? Are you sure?”
They then proceeded to start patting me down - touching my breasts and my front/ back pockets, still laughing. Finally, one of them admitted,“ We shouldn’t be doing this.” Then they called over a female officer to search me. Their names are Officer Cho and Codilla of the LAPD.
I was not the only gender non conforming protestor to be called “it.” There were trans/non-binary protestors divided into the ‘male’ and ‘female’ buses and deliberately misgendered. I was also not the only protestor to be sexually harassed or made uncomfortable.
After being held for over 4 hours - with protestors vomiting, fainting, forced to pee in their seats, losing circulation in their bruised wrists/arms - many began to advocate. We demanded access to bathrooms, water, and medical attention. We held them accountable to the law.
The only response was an officer telling us to “stop acting like high school girls.” We were held even longer, watching other buses with prisoners being processed and released. When I got off the bus, an officer said, “Now that you’re acting reasonable, we let you off the bus.”
We spoke up about LAPD abuse and were punished for it. They heard us begging and screaming for medical attention and chose to keep us there for 5 ½ hours to silence us.
After the zip ties were cut off, I was threatened by an officer who said: “Stop it with the attitude. This is us being nice - I can make this much worse for you.” In response to us advocating for our rights, they told us: “You have no rights here.”
This is what protestors are facing. This is the violence and harassment police have been using to silence us, wear us down, and force us off the streets. Even without rubber bullets, tear gas, and batons, they have other means of physical and emotional violence.
This is just a taste of the brutality that black and brown people experience with police. It is a privilege to be shocked by this. It is a privilege to be violated and humiliated for the first time. And I’m sure that my whiteness protected me in custody as it did on the street.“ End id.]

(I adapted this list from this blog post and added sources and new entries. Please reblog with additions.)
If you genuinely enjoy being alone, do you ever wonder if it is an inherent part of your character or if it stems from feeling inescapably lonely in the first place until you taught yourself to enjoy the peace and happiness one can find in solitude? what if the reason you now prefer & choose solitude at every turn is because you were a very lonely child, or teenager, not by your own choice, and that’s how you learnt to thrive and grow, so you no longer know if you can do that around people? There might also be an element of personal pride, an unconscious “you can’t fire me I quit” point when your brain decided to switch your feelings about solitude from distress to relief. I often find myself defending my love of being alone, to people who worry that I can’t possibly be happy to live in an isolated house in the woods; I insist that I do! I really do specifically enjoy the isolated factor and chose to live here because of it, but then I wonder how to differentiate an ingrained love of solitude from an acquired ability to thrive off unchosen loneliness, to learn from it and be nourished by it; to what extent it might be a form of contentment built on a bedrock of resignation.
don’t… do this
We are sharing some of our favourite gifs each day this month for Antifa International’s fifth anniversary. Today: Nazi monuments being destroyed after the defeat of Nazi Germany.
If this offends you 😊 unfollow me 😊
And a note to confederates: these monuments weren’t kept because this was “history”. These monuments celebrated horrible things and we BLEW THEM UP.
These articles were posted by the same person less than 2 hours apart
So I looked the guy up and he’s written a public apology.
and the title had been properly adjusted!
Daniel was out on biased reporting that they probably didn’t know was biased because of their privilege, didn’t deny it, didn’t throw a hissey fit, publicly apologized, and almost immediately fixed their mistake
Daniel is a good person,
Be more like Daniel
This is a very graceful and genuine apology.
Ruby Bridges was the first black child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis in 1960.
This movie made me cry, I was so heart broken by how Ruby Bridges was treated! She was only 6, but was so strong. She is a very brave girl and she did not care what the white folks called her.
People are simply disgusting to minimize people by skin color!
Ruby you might not think you’re a hero… But to other people you are! You are A HERO and you are A PERSON WHO MADE AMERICA CHANGE!
this is white culture, this is their history, this is their legacy…being enraged at a damn baby just because she’s black.
she’s still alive by the way
Ruby Bridges in 2010
“As Bridges describes it, “Driving up I could see the crowd, but living in New Orleans, I actually thought it was Mardi Gras. There was a large crowd of people outside of the school. They were throwing things and shouting, and that sort of goes on in New Orleans at Mardi Gras.“ Former United States Deputy Marshal Charles Burks later recalled, “She showed a lot of courage. She never cried. She didn’t whimper. She just marched along like a little soldier, and we’re all very very proud of her.“
U.S. Marshals escorted Bridges to and from school
As soon as Bridges entered the school, white parents pulled their own children out; all the teachers refused to teach while a black child was enrolled. Only one person agreed to teach Ruby and that was Barbara Henry, from Boston, Massachusetts, and for over a year Henry taught her alone, “as if she were teaching a whole class.”
Every morning, as Bridges walked to school, one woman would threaten to poison her; because of this, the U.S. Marshals dispatched by President Eisenhower, who were overseeing her safety, allowed Ruby to eat only the food that she brought from home.
Another woman at the school put a black baby doll in a wooden coffin and protested with it outside the school, a sight that Bridges Hall has said “scared me more than the nasty things people screamed at us.” At her mother’s suggestion, Bridges began to pray on the way to school, which she found provided protection from the comments yelled at her on the daily walks.”

THIS SHIT WAS ONLY 58 YEARS AGO. PEOPLE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS RACIST TERRORISM AND ACTS LIKE IT ARE STILL ALIVE, AND THEIR KIDS ARE IN THEIR 40′S AND 50′S.
DON’T LET RACISM APOLOGISTS GET AWAY WITH “WHY ARE YOU LIVING IN THE PAST,” BULLSHIT ARGUMENTS. WE ARE LITERALLY STILL DEALING WITH THE FAMILIES THAT FORMED HATE MOBS OVER BLACK CHILDREN ATTENDING SCHOOL WITH WHITE KIDS.
This was her then:
This is literally how she looks in 2017.
She’s literally not even old.
This is alway profound to me and gives me chills
HALSEY.

Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It’s known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you’re too close, you’ll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.
and when you run, don’t run away in the direction it’s facing. run to the left or right instead- these things are directional so they’re most dangerous if you’re in front of it, you’ll be able to reach safety much more quickly if you run to the side instead
also, the one on the left looks to be an LRAD 500X and the one on the right is an LRAD 100X. the human threshold of pain is 120 dB; both of these devices are capable of producing levels higher than that. i’d say if you find yourself within 50 meters (~160 ft) of one of these, get out of there immediately. you don’t want to have one of these facing you no matter how far away you are, but that’s the range where you’ll risk nearly instant damage to your hearing
Christ, stay safe guys
Run to the Sides, NOT Opposite
