started writing my silver spoon wesper fic and at first i thiught it was going to be a 10k one shot but im still at the beginning and it's already almost 3k words long?? help, im birthing something bigger than i thought and don't know how to organize it into chapters

btw i changed my ao3 username! it's the_fish_is_alive now (inside joke with my gf). i've been meaning to do it for quite a long time kow but i wanted to finish my fic first eheh
i forbade myself to write fanfic before i finished my master thesis because i need to lock in. it's been killing me but to cope i dove back into voltron fanfic because i've not read any since like 2022. in the end i think i made it even worse.

my outlines are always a horrendous mix of English, French and wording only i understand the true meaning of. terrible stuff. but at least i know where i'm going.
im thinking of renaming my last fic (i think i'm gonna die in this house) because i cant take the title seriously anymore because of all the memes lmao, do you guys have any suggestion?
it really is a shame that it was turned into a meme (even tho i find the memes funny) because look at those LYRICS. they are so wyman-hiding-his-identity-and-having-to-face-his-trauma-all-over-again coded.

I stil LOVE the original title but I gave it a think and came up with a new title if you want it:
“The things I left untold kill me” I think it has a similar idea as the original title, I debated the wording for the middle part (with other options being “I didn’t tell you” or “I never told/said”). Could also do “will kill me” if you like.

kaz giving wylan ways to live alongside his disability instead of hiding it is so important to me. because kaz understands what it's like, and maybe he doesn't know exactly, because it's different to his, but he knows what it's like to feel ashamed
kaz drawing stick men and little symbols for wylan to understand. kaz automatically reading out menus and signs and newspaper headlines like it's second nature. kaz still showing wylan things with writing on them while he reads it out because he's not a child and he can still look at it, even if he doesn't understand it. kaz giving wylan complicated jobs but making sure they don't require any reading, double checking before he gives wylan directions, so that wylan doesnt have to point it out. still giving wylan tough jobs because he's just as capable and he knows that. other dregs finding out about wylan's disability and trying to make wylan feel bad about it. kaz not taking immediate action and instead letting wylan scheme away to get his own revenge, only helping if he's needed. kaz never treating wylan as less than, or as a child, or as incapable because that's the bare fucking minimum. kaz letting wylan decide what he is and isn't capable of and what he needs help with, because if wylan says he can do it, kaz knows he can
wylan feeling confident with kaz enough to ask for help. it happens shyly at first, when kaz gives him a job that unexpectedly requires him to read something. kaz not even batting an eyelid before helping. kaz only helping with the reading part because he knows that wylan is capable and he sure as hell isn't just going to take over because wylan isn't useless, he just needed something read for him
kaz using wylan's disability almost as a technique, like how wylan did at the end of ck when he tricked his dad into thinking he could read. kaz getting wylan to go on heists where wylan is pretending he couldn't possibly be involved because 'everyone knows i can't read, are you making fun of me, mr council man. I should hope know, that's going to look bad on you', but kaz has already told wylan what it all says. kaz encouraging wylan to make his disability part of him, like kaz and his leg. kaz never forcing wylan to do so, though, because this is wylan's life, not his
wylan and kaz being a deadly duo in the barrel because 'he can't walk and I can't read but together we will destory you'

if that boy can get through his father attempting to assassinate him, safe the crows multiple times with his demolitions expertise and also complete the ice court heist, then he doesn’t need to be coddled by the other crows, he’s so strong - especially considering the angle of jes and the other crows at first just mocking him for being van ecks son, and him not saying anything at all

i will never be over the fact that, for the whole of the ice court heist, wylan just sat and listened to the other crows bullying him about his upbringing, and not once did he correct them. not once did he tell them that his father tried to kill him, would beat him, force tonics and hypnosis on him. not once did he even try and defend himself. he just took it, even though he knew he could probably make them stop of he told them the truth. but he didn't
Thinking how it makes sense that he wouldnt correct them because he'd feel pressure to tell them why his father was terrible to him. Believing that his father's bahavior was in some way rational or explanable, rather than mindlessly cruel, and so the first question after he tells the crows how he was treated would be "why?" And he'd rather protect his deepest secret than put an end to the bullying (he's used to it anyway, isn't he?).
Which paints the fact that he eventually tells kaz in a totally different light. This secret that he's gone to great lengths to protect, he gives away the second theyre out of the ice court. And again, why? Of course, he's gotten closer to the crows over the journey (ish, tbh i feel like most of the actual bonding he does is after) but he could have told kaz at any point.
imo? he didnt tell them because he didnt think it would matter. it wasnt until they were literally in the tank that it occurred to wylan that they would make it out of the ice court alive. He had nearly taken his secret to his grave once and he was fully prepared to do it again

i definitely have a fanfic planned about that but i'm waiting for the current one to be finished to start writing it because i don't trust myself to work on two projects at the same time without abandoning one of them but know that it will be DONE
