headcanon that Grace grades the other scientists work only if he’s focusing on something else or he’s tired.
Like. Imagine one of the scientists studying Astrophage gives Grace a paper detailing their recent findings and Grace being locked in on something else, he just looks up, skims the paper, then pulls out a red pen from somewhere and marks it, “B+, you forgot to account for…” then after a 5 minute lecture on how to improve, he goes back to typing or smth. The scientist just standing there baffled thinking ‘B+? What are we in? A classroom?”, and kind of bum hurt that they only got a B+ (bc ofc they want an A) so they go back to researching with a new ferocity cuz dammit they’re going to get that A. Cue the science team being fueled by Dr.Grace’s grades, them just rubbing it into each others faces if they get A’s or A+’s. Headcanon 2 is that he just keeps gold star stickers in his pockets so for example: All of them are in a meeting, Dr. smth pipes up with a good suggestion and he goes, “Great job! You get a gold star.” And just puts it on their phone case or badge and moves on, everyone is flabbergasted and a bit jealous except for the scientist who is just vibrating with happiness and a bit of fear because the co-dictator of the world just gave them a gold star.
Extra: Grace also hits Stratt with the 1 2 punch of “A+! Here’s a gold star.” On one of her presentations after staying up for 36+ hours and slaps a gold star on her forehead before conking out on the desk. Carl is in the corner desperately trying not to laugh bc Grace just did this in front of the entire Petrova task force while Stratt is just staring at him in confused amusement. Extra-extra: The mess hall on Stratt’s Vat has a ‘Fridge-board” which is a magnetic board acting as a fridge for all of their papers with A’s on it. Grace just being mortified when he learns that he’s been grading and giving gold stars to the top minds of the world and Stratt having to assure him that is boosts morale and that it’s fine.
(Once he gets sent off to space, everyone in the task force keeps their stars to remember him, because he never said goodbye.)
(Eva looking at her star and throwing it away, because she couldn’t stand the thought of having a gold star from the man she killed.)

Definitely depends if we're splitting already or not. Our splits can last anywhere from 3 days to usually a maximum of a week and a half (though it can go on for longer if the brain deems it necessary however more than a week is very painful and definitely isn't recommended)
So it depends on that- though we've had it happen before where we've watched something for the first time and then the same day our split is shepherded and someone from that source appears
i love loooooooove the idea of people's reactions to the beetles getting back to earth. just imagine:
teenagers citing his videos and data as primary sources on their school projects (how do you make an mla citation for a home video filmed in space?)
grace's final goodbye to earth getting billions of views on youtube
sexy edits of grace ALL OVER tiktok and instagram
grace becomes a whole scientific field unto himself. teams of scientists dedicate their lives to the study of his research and his contributions. maybe some of those scientists were his students once upon a time.
grace x rocky ALL OVER ao3
books on eridian language and culture hit the shelves and sell out immediately
eridian culture reignites conversations about the construct of gender, eridians become nonbinary/agender symbols
space is suddenly back at the forefront of the public mind. space-travel units are introduced to grade school science curriculum worldwide. entire classes are taught solely on grace and his scientific discoveries. EVERYONE wants to be an astronaut
of course, hollywood makes a big-budget Dr. Ryland Grace biopic. it's a box office hit. a huge online movement results in ryan gosling playing grace, and everyone agrees the likeness is uncanny. stratt is the villain of the story.
a series of heartfelt videos from grace to stratt, in which he says hello and goodbye and i hate you and thank you and i miss you, are found in the database and reposted online. there's suddenly a massive outcry of support for her, which results in her release from prison. some youtuber makes a gritty but surprisingly touching short film about her story
people coming together to make earth better. trying to repair the damages from the sun's dimming, trying to repair the environment, trying to repair global relations. they want to be an earth worth saving, an earth that grace would be proud of
space travel becomes a huge global priority, the nations of the world pool resources and there are huge advances in technology (especially with scientists studying xenonite!)
the project hail mary launch date becomes a huge global holiday. there's a parade in almost every city all over the world in honor of the hail mary. people lay candles and flowers at memorials for yao, ilyukhina, annie, and dubois. murals of grace and rocky cover building sides. people gather in the streets and remember those who saved them, and banners that read "grace rocky save stars" flutter in the wind above the crowds.
coca cola airs a VERY insensitive commercial with some low quality eridian puppets. the commercial is slammed online and company stocks plummet
people continue to live their lives as normal. because of grace and rocky, because of the beetles, the sun is saved. earth keeps spinning.
You woke up, took one look at the thing standing at the foot of your bed... and promptly went back to sleep. Damnit, it's too early in the morning for this shit.
Olay, not a response to this prompt BUT our mom had a experience like this while at our pop's house (she was helping our step-dad clean it out after he had passed)
She was laying on the upstairs bed and trying to rest (it was maybe 4am at this point) and she was half asleep when she heard feet shuffle at the foot of the bed, she glaced up at the dark figure at her bed, and promptly said to it "Go fuck off it's 4am, can you not see how tired I am??" And frustratedly layed back down, she said it took a few long moments before it shuffled off towards the window in the room, and a few moments after that she had the realization of what just happened-
Friendly reminder that the intro to Lion King….the non english bits leading up to the “circle of life” is not random yelling in *Africa voice* it is an actual language, Zulu, spoken by 10 million people, it is the most widely spoken language (out of 11) in the country of South Africa (1 out of the 54 countries in the continent of Africa, the continent home to somewhere between 1500-2000 languages and around 3000 distinct ethnic groups)
this isn’t to say that you have to friggin learn the language to sing along with a disney film, it just means that you should be mindful, respectful, appreciative and respectful. don’t be yelling out whatever noise comes in to your head when you hear it
Ok but someone knows what does this say?
The lyrics before the english comes in…in “circle of life”
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [Here comes a lion, Father] Sithi uhm ingonyama [Oh yes, it’s a lion] Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [Here comes a lion, Father] Sithi uhm ingonyama [Oh yes, it’s a lion] Ingonyama [It’s a lion] Siyo Nqoba [We’re going to conquer] Ingonyama Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala [A lion and a leopard come to this open place] (repeats) [queue English lyrics]
I would like to further add that language has there own cultural nuances so something that can sound extremely meaningful in one languages may not sound as majestic when translated to another (I know this as someone who has an understanding of 5 languages and speaks 3 of them fluently) so if you are thinking “oh it ain’t that deep they are just yelling: the lion is coming!” dial it back
Worth noting that “lion” and especially the word Ingonyama is a very respectful word to talk about a Zulu king, especially in praise. It’s so heavily associated with royalty in isiZulu that a different word is used for an animal lion - Ibhubesi. This isn’t just announcing the arrival of an animal, it’s celebrating the arrival (or coronation?) of the king
/\ Whoop, I didn’t know this
This is so informative thank you so much
Lemme tell you, I was not dividing those syllables into words in the right places AT ALL
I would also like to state that the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is an extremely washed out version of the original song “Mbube” by Solomon Linda, a South African musician. It was appropriated by the west and he never received credit or money for what became an extremely famous song. His family eventually received a small sum from Disney for the song but again, not much considering the history of the song. There is a documentary about it right now on netflix.

Learned something new 👍👍👍 today
And The Lion King is the only Disney film officially dubbed in Zulu! https://disneyinternationaldubbings.weebly.com/the-lion-king–zulu-cast.html
As an avid lion king enjoyer I am proud to say I have learned all of the Zulu parts of the intro song's correct pronunciation! (As to the best of my ability, I am still very white and very southern so it might not be perfect, but I try my best and try to inform those around me)

Which Geometric Transformation is the Hottest?
Rotation
Translation
Uniform Scaling
Non-Uniform Scaling
Reflection
Shearing
As a math teacher, I feel I need to defend my choice of rotation. See rotation not only being used in art and animation I would argue the second most out of all of the options. (Behind translation of course) It also is the easiest to undo and the easiest to redo. Also one object can be rotated 360° to make a perfect circle. 3 is a angelically beautiful number due to it being the angels number "333", and 6 being a devilishly handsome number due to it being the devil's number "666". And 0 is a neutral number but I'd argue that it is at least a cute and you'd definitely flirt with a 0 (Unlike the number 7. Fucking ugly ass 7. I hate the number 7. HATE.) So all in all 3 very hot numbers
Now to rotate the object upside-down you would rotation it 180°. 1 is a slim goddess/god/[gender neutral version of god here?] of a number! 8 is a plump queen/king/monarch of a number! Both very very sexy! And I've already gone over 0!
See now with all that evidence you'd understand why I'd choose rotation. However! Shearing is also a good pick so lets go over why I choose rotation over shearing.
Shearing, while yes is pretty and presumptuous is, in my opinion, overly snarky, shearing knows it's pretty and alluring, however it uses that to make itself look more useful than it is, and intentionally overshadows the other geometric transformations. It's also a bitch. No reason behind why, they just are in my opinion-
So this is why Rotation is the hottest geometric transformation, and this poll is rigged by shearing's possy.
I don't understand neo-pronouns- BUT!!! Not in the "why do people use these?" Way- more in the... How do I use these in a sentence way- like- we're already shit at ELA and grammar, so- if we ask for clarification or if we need them used in a few example sentences first it's not because we don't respect you and your pronouns we're just really bad at grammar and need a little help
Massive System Ask Game
Today is DID awareness day so we are answering any questions you might have about us. We're going to drop a bunch of questions to choose from below. Feel free to use any of them or ask your own question. Each member of the system can make their own choice on whether to answer specific questions or not.
We've also seen that its Multiple Personality Day. We think it may just be using an outdated term but we're making the collective choice to use it to be inclusive of other systems too. So if you're a system who relates to and feels comfortable with this go ahead and use it.
Just choose a category/color and number or feel free to ask your own question. Categories are general, individual, introject specific, and DID specific. For individual questions please specify the headmates(s) you're asking.
General
1. What is your system name? How did you choose it?
2. Who has been around the longest? Why did they form?
3. Who is most recent? Why did they form?
4. Do you have a headspace or innerworld? If so what does it look like? Does the way you interact change based on if you're fronting or not?

Notes:
As stated this is open to all systems, it's definitely DID awareness day so we added the last section with that in mind. However as mentioned we've also seen today labeled as multiple personalities day so we're celebrating all systems on this blog.
No syscourse if you have an issue just keep scrolling because trying to cause problems will just get you blocked. If you really piss us off you get blocked and put on blast so just don't. Protect your peace and ours by not engaging if you have issues with us. We aren't going out of our way to argue with strangers we disagree with who have no effect on our lives so you should do the same.
So regardless of what kind of system you are as far as we're concerned today is for you. We're just highlighting DID because it was named specifically and we're diagnosed with it. That doesn't mean you're unwelcome here though, we support all systems.
Feel free to ask us any of these
"The last time any human touched Ryland Grace was an act of horrific violence"
Well... Yes and no.
The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.
But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.
There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.
They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.
Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.
Okay but teacher Grace on Erid having very little say in which kids get filtered into his class, though he is aware that the selection process is super specific and that most of the kids he gets are high performers with star academics and some even with influential parents. He isn't quite comfortable enough with Eridian culture yet to object to the selection process and make it more inclusive, however. That is, until he learns about the special needs kids.
Obviously, there are Eridian kids with special needs, and a few of them even filter into his classes. But one specific type of special needs kid has never shown up in his classes, and the only reason he even learned of the condition is because Rocky and Adrien's first pebble has the condition.
It's initially quite a struggle for them to deal with, and Grace sympathizes of course, because the child will apparently have huge learning and academic struggles and will likely never be able to live on their own. That is, until he learns the details of the disability.
Basically, it's a condition where the part of the Eridian brain that gives them their eidetic memory isn't fully developed, and so these kids just... can't remember things the way most eridians do. And in a culture where an eidetic memory is the norm, all things cater to that, so not having that is actually a massive disability.
But Grace is like, so... this kid just learns the same way a human does, or something like. Which is nothing new to him, though he is somewhat boggled at how much Rocky and Adrian struggle with their infant and their "slow" learning curve, even as far as initial developmental stages. Grace, on the other hand, simply treats the kid the same way he would a human infant, and Rocky and Adrien are impressed with his patience.
But, through this, it occurs to Grace that there must be other kids out there with this disability who likely aren't getting the attention and chances in life that they deserve, because Eridian culture is particularly hostile toward this disability, and actively views those with it as unable to function in regular society.
So Grace demands that a special course be put together where he teaches kids with this disability specifically. Rocky is hesitant, as most kids with this disability are home schooled and kind of... kept shut away. But Grace insists and as one of Erid's saviors, he gets what he wants eventually.
His first class is super small, maybe only three kids because so few parents were willing to advertise that their children have this disability. And because of the stigma around it, even those who agreed to it are super unsure and want to be present during the lessons, perhaps paranoid about the impression it will leave on Savior Grace, who is so accustomed to only teaching the most gifted students.
But Grace knows exactly how to deal with these kids. Some of them have varying degrees of function when it comes to their memory banks, which isn't so unlike teaching kids on earth. And so Grace is able to introduce all these tools and teaching techniques that were previously unheard of on Erid (though very normal on Earth) like having textbooks for reference with you at all times and having strategies that are less focused on memorization for understanding, and providing these kids with tools like calculators and teaching them the art of taking notes to look back on, etc etc.
Suddenly, with all these tools that most Eridians don't need, these kids are learning at a much faster rate, and succeeding with the help of all their little tools. And because so many normal eridians are ignorant of Grace's actual biology, it's shocking to them that Savior Grace doesn't have an eidetic memory either (shocking to everyone but Rocky anyway)--that his brain functions quite similarly in capacity to these "disabled" children.
Once this news gets around, suddenly there's more kids in his special classes, and there's all kinds of discourse being inflamed because the real reason these kids can't live on their own or function is lack of support from Eridian society.
If Savior Grace, who is well respected as a genius in his own right amongst the Eridians, can function so successfully, they why can't these kids?
I dunno, I just think it's an interesting premise.
