Now that Beetlejuice is coming back to Broadway with what is most likely a new(ish) cast, who/what do we wanna see? The big ones for me are: 1. I would love for an alternate situation for the role of BJ. I love Alex Brightman, but I also love Will Blum, and I would like for both of them to fill the role equally. I’m pretty sure that’s what they did in the Seoul production right? 2. BLACK LYDIA. 3. More POC in the cast in general, but especially in principal roles. 4. Gimme that god damn proshot.

If it feels almost involuntary, especially if it's a quick double inhale, it's probably your body attempting to stimulate your vagus nerve. This is basically a signal (via the bronchial branch of the nerve) to reduce anxiety. People who suffer prolonged periods of stress or have mental illness/es may take these deep breaths seemingly at random. It's your parasympathetic nervous system trying to regulate itself, and it's very normal.

Fun fact! This is a Dmanisi skull from Georgia, another type of hominin to us.

Notice that jaw? When we lose our teeth, over time our jawbone heals the gaps, making it smooth, so when archaeologists discover skulls centuries later they can tell whether the tooth was lost after death (as the bone didn’t grow to cover the hole) or during the individual’s life.

The majority of this jaw has healed, so this person would have lived a number of years with basically no teeth. The age of this skull, according to wiki, is 1.8 million years.

This means that millions of years ago this person had a diet with soft, easy foods, and that others in the group would have known, understood, and helped by specialising their foraging for this one individual.

Or, in the words of my lecturer when we covered this, “Someone would have had to chew up this person’s food for them. Every day. Multiple times. For years.”

Despite being cool.and upbeat (and she is) she also suffers from anxiety and recently started speaking about it in social media. Instagram posta detailing her inability to even go downstairs and how support her fam are etc. She also recently did a bbc documentary about anxiety disorders.

Nadiya is also a perfect example of why diversity in media is important. A government report on community cohesion said she’s done “more for British-Muslim relations than 10 years of government policy”, because her presence on TV has helped to humanize the image of the hijab-wearing Muslim woman in the eyes of the public. She’s not even really a political activist or anything - she’s just a nice, honest, down-to-earth person. Sometimes that’s all it really takes to convince people.

My cat, Charlotte, had to be put to sleep a few days ago. She was 16 and honestly was the smartest, most beautiful, kindest cat I’ve ever known. I got her on my 12th birthday, and I turn 28 at the end of the month. She was with me through everything, sometimes she was the only thing that kept me going. She was able to have the procedure done at home, in my arms, and I’m so thankful for that. But it still hurts so much. I feel like I’ve lost a part of me.
