Trying to find a wolfstar fic that isn't background to jegulus sure is tricky these days huh?
2 genres of fanfiction:
1) put that guy into situations
2) take that guy OUT of situations for the love of GOD let them REST
#you put the sad guy in #you take the sad guy out #you put the sad guy in and you shake him all about
Here's my recent WOLFSTAR drawing!!
will lost and found be finished or is it abandoned? it's so lovely and i would love more chapters!!
Hi!
Unfortunately 'Lost & Found' is abandoned as of now. I've gravitated away from HP fandom in the last couple years and though I love the version of the boys I've created in that fic, the inspiration is kind of gone.
I have a question for L&F readers though! So the last chapter I posted ends with Remus and Sirius pretty happy and together, and that is intentional! I hate reading an incomplete story and being left with the characters in distress, never to get closure 💔. Full disclosure, I have several more chapters written that were never published but they deal with some really heavy conflicts with resolutions that I outlined but may never write.
Do I leave it ending on a happy chapter, with some lose ends (aka where it is rn)? Do I post the remaining written chapters and leave yall on a sad cliffhanger maybe forever? Or do I post the remaining chapters and notes on how the rest of the fic was planned to go?
Genuinely have been conflicted about this and ashamed to leave a wip unfinished!! Please sound off in the comments and I will do whatever the popular vote is!
“writing fanfics is something I do in my free time for fun. I will not treat it like a job and will instead treat it like a hobby because that’s what it is.”
also how it feels being a fanfic writer:
before you get intimidated by a stranger online, just remember that the coolest person you know on tumblr is still on tumblr
i think theres this idea in the general public that the "best" fanfic gets turned into real books like 50 shades of grey. but the truth is that the best fanfic can never be published as an actual book because its intricately woven into the canon material so its inseparable even if you change the names
no matter how terrible my day is. i can always end my day in bed imagining fictional characters making out sloppy style and fucking raw. and that's beautiful. there's some good in this world mister frodo and it's worth fighting for
ao3 users orphan_account and anonymous sure have some really banger fics ngl
Well shit, Henry Jenkins, out here in 1997 dropping truth bombs
Oh hey I need this for a research paper I'm writing, thank you!
i mean he had been out here since 1988 dropping such bombs:
"'fandom' is a vehicle of marginalized subcultural groups (women, the young, gays, etc.) to pry open space for their cultural concerns within dominant representations; it is a way of appropriating media texts and rereading them in a way that serves different interests, a way of transforming mass culture into a popular culture"
Jenkins, Henry. “Star Trek Rerun, Reread, Rewritten: Fan Writing as Textual Poaching.” Critical Studies in Mass Communication 5, no. 2 (1988): 85–107. https://doi.org/10.1080/15295038809366691.
there are even some earlier works in fan studies but that’s what i have ready to hand.
Very interesting.
I’ll be the one to ask this on the celibacy.gif website.
Adults (18+) of tumblr, how often are you having sex?
Daily or multiple times daily, with different partners
Daily or multiple times daily, with consistent partner(s)
Multiple times a week, but not daily, with different partners
Multiple times a week, but not daily, with consistent partner(s)
Multiple times a month, but not more than once a week, with different partners
Multiple times a month, but not more than once a week, with consistent partner(s
Multiple times a year, but not more than once a month, with different partners
Multiple times a year, but not more than once a month, with consistent partner(s
Less often than multiple times a year, but I have had sex before.
I have never had sex but I would like to eventually.
I have never had sex and I don’t want to.

I love my asexual followers but everyone plz reblog this to get this out of my inner circle before this poll, too, becomes celibacy.gif
In writing, epithets ("the taller man"/"the blonde"/etc) are inherently dehumanizing, in that they remove a character's name and identity, and instead focus on this other quality.
Which can be an extremely effective device within narration!
They can work very well for characters whose names the narrator doesn't know yet (especially to differentiate between two or more). How specific the epithet is can signal to the reader how important the character is going to be later on, and whether they should dedicate bandwidth to remembering them for later ("the bearded man" is much less likely to show up again than "the man with the angel tattoo")
They can indicate when characters stop being as an individual and instead embody their Role, like a detective choosing to think of their lover simply as The Thief when arresting them, or a royal character being referred to as The Queen when she's acting on behalf of the state
They can reveal the narrator's biases by repeatedly drawing attention to a particular quality that singles them out in the narrator's mind
But these only work if the epithet used is how the narrator primarily identifies that character. Which is why it's so jarring to see a lot of common epithets in intimate moments-- because it conveys that the main character is primarily thinking of their lover/best friend/etc in terms of their height or age or hair color.
This perfectly articulates the reason behind a squick I've never been able to describe! It always pulls me out of what I'm reading, especially in a scene when instead of using a character's name or pronoun, an author says like "the brunette sighed" or something like that! I know we tend to do it if saying the name is getting repetitive or if multiple characters have the same pronouns, but it can have be unintentionally dehumanizing/objectifying! Thank you OP for helping me understand why this icks me out!
I need an outlet for my marauders brainrot, so here I am, crawling back to tumblr
people telling you they reread your fic is the biggest compliment you could ever receive. there are thousands of stories out there begging to be found, to be explored, but your story meant so much to someone that they came back to it eagerly, they went over every word again. to love is to return and loving a fic is rereading it. thank you to all readers and rereaders <3333
The devastating difference between how much time it takes to write something vs how fast people read it lol
you're falling in the trap!! it will be read by many people, many times, and it will live on in their memories. and maybe no single other human will match you in time spent dedicated to your story, but as a collective we will outlast you. acts of creation only grow when they are shared
This. Writing is not like dinner. It can be consumed many times
