These are known as marimo balls or marimo moss balls. These are in fact not moss but a type of filamentous algae. They are naturally found in Scotland, Iceland, Estonia, Australia and Japan where it gets its name from. "Mari" means bouncy ball and "mo" means plant that grows in water. They are rare and are protected in Japan and Iceland. They are considered to be lucky like the lucky bamboo and even have their own festival and toys in Japan. Don't worry mine were made in a factory!
