when zuko and katara get their southern raiders episode im NOT going to be able to handle how softly he speaks to her btw. its going to kill me. "what can i do to make it up to you" "you should get some sleep" and simply the way he says "katara" if the crystal catacombs was any indication. and what if he comforts her after she uses blood bending. what then. and the hug at the end. like genuinely im gonna be unwell.

She wants to tell him he doesn't need to worry—she'll never hide her scars from him. The very idea is ridiculous. He's always let her see all of him. Why wouldn't she return the favor?
Zuko is smart. Zuko is protective. Zuko knows the pain of a burn. He'll help her heal. She knows this as surely as she knows her own name.
The burns settle in The Block's first chapter: Love is Wild (read here!). Healing comes in many ways.

And if I said the pushback against Zutara but the acceptance of Zukka, Zukaang, and Jetko is an example of how women of color are held to a higher standard in regards to racial loyalty compared to men of color?
When the pairing is so good that it doesn’t matter if you see it as romantic or platonic. What matters is that you see them and know that one is not complete without the other. Frequently bought together. Do not separate. If you separate them one of them will bite you

One thing I always found funny about the discourse around Zuko/Katara ending up ruling the Fire Nation is that a lot of the hate towards it acts like it would suck for Katara. Katara, whose whole personality revolves around activism and fighting the hardest battles- emboldened by adversity instead of oppressed by it. Or that Zuko would for whatever reason not enable her to fight the battles she wants to fight and would stifle her into the position of a tradwife or something (which, funnily enough, is what happened to Katara in canon with Aang from what I hear lol).
Meanwhile, I think the person it would really suck for is Zuko. He'd be living back in the same halls he was abused and mutilated in, surrounded by people trying to use him who don't care about him as a person and duplicitous, scheming nobles (he could choose the people in his circle, but there'd be old money he'd likely have to appease). And there's a reason he had that like, trauma mantra about Azula always lying. He's incredibly sincere; he'd be an easy target for manipulation- and being in power everyone would be trying. It'd be constant work and political game playing, and honest, honorable Zuko would be miserable with it.
Like Katara loves to fight, and Zuko has only ever been fighting his whole life. Boy needs a break.
I honestly think all the endings are fun, where they end up moving to the Fire Nation or the Southern Water Tribe (or like, secret third option where they find another place to start anew or keep traveling around), and the idea of them showing each other around their respective homes is really cute to me.
But I really love the SWT as a cozy end to their stories, because it's nice that Katara gets to go home but more so Zuko gets to have a real home and community and like, a support system for once. I think he'd love it there.
Whereas going to rule the whole Fire Nation at the end of a story feels like the secret second phase of a boss battle lol. It could have enough conflict to be an entirely new story (multiple, even) on its own.
I finally finished it...
I think I redid it like 4 times, and I still not satisfied with the end result, but to this point I'm tired,
maybe I'll redo it somewhere in the future, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
