Due to personal reasons that I'd rather not publicly discuss, TheJokeisHomesuck is shutting it's doors for an indefinite amount of time
When I made this blog a few short years ago, I never thought it would get anything more than a sideways glance of disgust as I sloppily flashed my wares
Over 5,200 amazing followers and exactly 256 mediocre comics later, and I couldn't be more satisfied with how things went
There were some bumps in the road, lots of failed projects and unforeseen complications with moving forward, but the Homestuck fandom is ever changing. And every so often they take a break from creating art and stories and games, and remember to appreciate a bad joke.
Ever heard the one about that webcomic Homestuck?
Me neither. But I can't wait to hear the punchline.

Wait was nyeh considered controversial or something?
Lemme tell you the legend. Maybe some Homestucks are too new to know it, or maybe some are too old to care. But it goes like this.
He spent good time crafting these voices, and quickly gained recognition for doing so. Many "Headcanon" voices nowadays are similar to his, and rightfully so. He's got a good larynx and based them all off of solid foundations in the comic, as well as basing some voices off Hussie's own inspiration for some characters. (as revealed in various MSPA Q&As)
Love him or hate him, this guy was EVERYWHERE. He was such an important part of the fandom, that many, if not most, new fans found his videos before they really knew what Homestuck was.
So a lot of new, kinda silly, and kinda ignorant to the comic, fans flocked to this man's Homestuck videos, and fanbase. Now every fandom has these fans. Tumblr calls them Superwholocks (although I've met some nice ones of those) and anime fans group them into a subclass called Weaboos.
Thus the name Stuckaboo will be applied to the "Bad" Homestucks from here on out.
So the Stuckaboos suck, right? They're loud, dumb, disrespectful, and often not are the sources for annoying "fandom" interpretations of characters.
Especially Trolls.
Especially Eridan.
This aforementioned voice actor made a video, which I have not the heart to link here.
In it, Eridan was kind of a side character, just there for the joke. He couldn't be silent the whole time, so the man made a sound of bitter annoyance to fill the gap between character dialogue.
I don't know if it was made with Joey Wheeler in mind, but thus Nyeh was born.
Stuckaboos loved it, and used the sound to characterize Eridan as a mean, whiny, son of a bitch. Which, I mean, he kinda is.
But that's not the bad thing.
The Stuckaboos went overboard with it. They LIVED for Eridan saying "nyeh" this and "nyeh" that.
It eventually became synonymous with the terrible, wimpy, poorly characterized, fawning over Sollux, wweh wwhy wwont you lovve me, "fanon" Eridan that the Stuckaboos often roleplayed or wrote about.
It was just a red flag really, signaling what kind of Homestuck you're talking to.
Nyeh = Stuckaboo.
Now that most of that era has grown up, nyeh seems to have become more of a joke than anything harmful. A meme, if you will. I personally find it great to add a little extra OOMPH to an Eridan comic, pushing the dumb humor even further.
Keep in mind though if you're sitting down to SERIOUSLY roleplay or write Eridan Ampora, that nyeh is still kinda seen as silly, and should only be used if you're dicking around.
So what did the voice actor think? That whole nyeh business, and a HORRIBLE fanon Eridan, was his fault.
Well, it's just a filler noise he used. Twas the fans that butchered it. I don't know the guy, but for a time I kinda felt sorry for him.
I haven't watched a video he's made in, shit, probably a good year, but I can only hope he's still making voices and doing what he likes, despite his bad rep, supplied by the Stuckaboos and their precious Nyehridan.
