Do you know what Bumbleby is? It is the BY, it’s half of the title. Bumbleby shippers are more entitled to have their characters interact with each other than BS shippers are, or actually any other non-MC ship because  THEY ARE MAIN CHARACTERS: the show should put their relationships with each other first and foremost and yet Blake spends more time with Sun than her other 3 titular characters

your main charactes take priority over everything else when it comes to relationshps an interactions because they are the driving forces of your show.

Jaune exists, and Sun steals every plotline Blake is in by getting the best-animated and most-awesome part of the fight

yet Qrow and Oscar feel more like main characters than Ruby does

and where has the action been in the past 2 volumes? we got cheated out of the majority of fights via talking-no-jutsu or cutting-no-justsu with only one really well animated fight in two volumes and with all the standing around and talking it’s hardly allowed to call itself action anymore

I have no idea who to side with here, because I agree with some of most of your arguments. But not all.

So I’ll say you’re all equally a little wrong.

Nobody has ever said the Black Sun songs are any more canon than the BMBLB song. There have just been Blake and Sun scenes that were given songs because they’ve had sceentime together with how the story is going, and it’s RWBY tradition to put lyrical songs over fight scenes, which at least one of those scenes was.

The writers themselves have said they regret doing a Jaune storyline in the first Volume, when we should be getting to know our leads. But it was done anyway, and now we can have that backstory and development out of the way so future episodes don’t have to do it.

Pyrrha has more character traits than just pining for Jaune. But we learn about her through how she interacts with Jaune (read as: the only person she trusts since he treats her like a normal person and is willing to listen to her problems). And a good character is one we can get to know over the course of the show. Someone we can spend lots of time getting to know and caste about. From her conception, Pyrrha was not going to be that kind of character. She was a martyr and inspiration for RNJR to seek justice and move the plot forward. But she’s a beloved character and has a reputation through her fight scenes and Weiss’ introduction of her of a capable and celebrated fighter. We were sad when she was gone, so the writers clearly did a good job of endearing her as a character (read as: she had a personality we identified with and motivations we understood).

Sun had a great fight scene, because the animators do great fight scenes. Blake didn’t have it because she wouldn’t fight her friend, but Sun has no such hangups. Qrow was a big focus in 4 because he knew Raven more than anyone else, whom we want to learn more about. He fought Tyrian because otherwise RNJR would lose and die, which we don’t want. Oscar had focus because he’s a major new factor that needs to be shown and understood because it’s unlike anything we’ve seen in the show before. He can’t just show up at RNJR’s doorstep, we have to introduce him and show him deciding to go to Haven, then how he found Qrow. Sidestories are not inherently evil.

Finally… Blake and Yang are main characters, and close friends. They will interact in this show. Because main characters tend to do that. How that relationship goes is still in the air, but scenes together are necessary.

And there is metric Fuck-ton of new story elements that will drive the conflict now. So we need scenes talking about it, or the fighting will be pointless and without consequence.

another thing to point out “Blake spends more time with Sun than her other 3 titular characters” maybe its because for almost 2 volumes sun was the only other character from beacon who was with her, and maybe you could argue that there were other characters she could have interacted with but there were only another 5 other characters she ever met in those 2 seasons three of which she didn’t meet until midway through season 5 right before Blake leaves to join RWY in haven
