Concerning 666 and Gaster Undertale

Following up on THIS post from months a go a bit.

Following up my last post/thought vomit a bit…

While it’s still on my mind; going with the idea that the bottom half of mysteryman is indeed a face…both mysteryman and the white fellow in photoshop flowey’s screen look interestingly well…human…don’t they?

The assumption that Gaster will probably turn out to be a skeleton is a popular one. Which is natural really, considering his full name is most likely meant to reference the fonts wing dings and aster, and the only other characters in the games named after fonts are both skeletons…however.

If you believe that whoever is handing you the egg in Deltarune to be Gaster, perhaps you might want to take this into consideration:

The word that stands out to me here is man. Not monster. Not skeleton. Not dog. Man.

In a more well known scenerio you see it come up when you’re with the river person too.

Man who speaks in hands, eh? And while I can go into a whole other schmeel about the word ‘hands’ and how it might, in addition to wingdings, also refer to handwriting, or coding, or even a deck of cards (a la Deltarune), I’m going to keep my conjecture concise and continue trying to make the point I intended to make in the first place.

You know where ELSE we hear the word man?

In the True Lab. If you approach the refrigerators in the True lab while it’s dark and the fog is still floating about, this is the text that comes up.

So we have something in the shape of a man…and a tree…next to a refrigerator. Hmmm. That reminds me a heck ton of the man you meet behind the tree who gives you an egg to put into Asgore’s refrigerator during your romp around town towards the end of Deltarune.

Y'all, entertain this for a moment. What if Gaster is human?

…but Gaster must be a skeleton, right? Well, I mean, skeletons were once humans. I just feel like something being described as being in 'the shape of a man’ a little too specific in its choice of wording to ignore. The same way I find Sans and Papyrus being monsters (?) in the form of human remains a little too specific in design to ignore.

I know it’s been a long time, but I wanted to add to this a little bit. 

Let’s look at the bible! 

Revelation 13:18: “Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is 666.”

“....that of a man and his number is 666.”

666 is Gaster’s number. That of a man.

What a mystery man! :)

Lucio = The Fool

This isn’t so much a theory as it is me simply pointing out some things. Perhaps it’s common knowledge at this point, I don’t know- however!

The scene that confirms this fact is in the secret banquet hall, when MC is pulled into Lucio’s chair in in Asra’s route.

The card in front of Lucio’s plate is the fool, not the devil. From this caption, the text goes on to describe both the upright and reversed traits associated with the card, with the reversed standing as a reflection of Lucio. Although MC is also associated with the fool, I think it’s important to remember that we are inhabiting a body that was meant to go to Lucio himself. That’s ultimately the reason MC was drawn into the seat.

Another dead ringer to me is the fact that in our dear late Count’s bio, his favorite flower is listed as a white rose.

White roses are related to the fools card because in most tarot decks, the fool is seen holding one as he prances off the ledge of a cliff.

Also, the Fool is almost always accompanied by a little white dog,

which would also harken to the fact that Lucio has a fondness for white animals, or even most specifically Mercedes and Melchior.

Speaking of dogs, an interesting little detail I noticed was that all of the arcana associated with the main characters of the plot have the same eye color as their corresponding human.

Asra/The Magician= Purple

Nadia/High Priestess = Red

Julian/Hanged Man= Murkey Grey

Portia/The Star = Blue

Muriel /The Hermit = Green

and Lucio/Scout = White

Then there is the scene where he’s speaking to Vlastomil in the Southern mountains. Vlastomil says something along the lines of “only a fool would give somebody their true name,” to which baby Montag replies

Anyway, Lucio represents the Fool, not the Devil.

@ask-count-lucio Oh, I definitely think he was intended to be the Fool Reversed :D I was kind of too lazy to post up these images yesterday, but the way the dialogue follows immediately after the card reveal kind of indicates to me that this was the devs intention. 

Please ignore the fact that my mc’s name is Valdemar, lol! My idea of fun is strange and horrible.

After describing the upright and reversed meaning of the Fool Card, with the reversed meaning being described as recklessness here, they launch right into describing the reason he failed the ritual, chalking it down to him rushing ahead, consequences be damned. Apparently this is typical of lovely Lucy too, rushing ahead. Or you know, being reckless. 

I think this emphasizes that Lucio is absolutely the Fool Reversed!

You must admit, despite the inverted colors, the similarities are uncanny.
