A cool new word for nb4nb doujinshi is what we need
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
I hate you Ozempic craze I hate you 'heroin chic' I hate you weight loss ads on public radio I hate Burn Fat Fast ads every thirty seconds I hate you I hate you I hate you
I grew up before the term 'thigh gap' was invented I grew up before 'hip dip' was invented I was born before 'muffin top' was a thing before 'clean girl look' was a thing before 'glass skin' was a thing before razoring off peach fuzz was a thing and I'm so so so fucking tired of us inventing new concepts purely for the purpose of convincing people to hate their own bodies enough to buy products
Last time Tuberculosis ran through the USA a small number of people got it on purpose to look skinny and waifish and delicate and used makeup to look flushed and bony and when the Victorians figured out tapeworms people would infect themselves on purpose to starve themselves smaller and women and now in the year of our lord 2026 there is a noticeable fraction of the USAmerican population genuinely thrilled about a treatment-resistant microbial parasite that makes you shit and vomit your brains out for a month because side effects include weight loss and STILL we talk about being skinny like it's the natural default setting for all healthy people as if it's a self-sustaining standard and not an imaginary goal that we are constantly constantly constantly beating ourselves with a whip to acheive
It’s long been a dream of mine to compile a cookbook of the best recipes from around the world for food cooked into a little carbohydrate container. Tamales of the world.
At least one member of the British government is doing their job.
this study got out of hand haha, but it's a perfect shot for the text from the book (opening of chapter 24) - what a brutal passage :(

Time go fishing, question?
ooooh how i adore 3d models on 2d pictures im transporting myself there mentally
my number one advice for trans women both on this shitass platform and in real life is: you do not have to answer that question. people are so used to exploiting transfems' collective low self esteem that they will just expect you to answer questions that are best responded to with an openly disgusted stare. you do not have to answer these motherfuckers' questions. you don't owe anyone an explanation. "who do you think you are to ask me that" and "what makes you think that's an acceptable thing to say to me" are good, but most of the time you can just say nothing and look at them like they just offered you a spoon and a bowl of shit to eat. you'd be amazed how fast people start backtracking if you just say nothing and let their idiot question grow stale in the air
and needless to say you do not need to answer anons. yes this includes if they tell you everyone is saying something about you and can you explain. it is a trick. let them refresh your blog in vain
irl this doesn't work on people who have made up their minds to be openly hostile but it works on just about everyone else. most people have less-than-unshakable social confidence. practically everybody is secretly afraid of that moment where they realize they did something socially wrong. and no version of that moment is as jarring as when the flow of interaction just. ends. nobody is ready for the script to just stop. consequently, if you can project a passable lack of uncertainty during the brief, lurching silence that follows when you just don't respond to someone's weird question, in a way that is clearly deliberate, it only takes about 3-4 seconds at most before the other person will assume they fucked up bad even if they're not sure how. you just stare at them with perplexed disgust. they will backtrack and apologize. you still don't have to say anything. if you know them and you want to let them off with a warning, you can let them squirm for a second and then say "anyway," and change the subject like they were just being weird and you're doing them a favor. if you don't know them, or don't want to, just say say nothing, look at them like they're gross, and then ignore them
When I transitioned I was working at a coffee shop, and I had my nametag changed from MJ to Molly. Most people were chill about it (or cognizant enough to pretend they were chill about it), but I did have one guy who was a regular see the nametag, point, and laugh. He thought it was a joke. "You're name's not Molly!"
Now, luckily for him, there wasn't anyone else in the immediate vicinity, because after about three seconds of cold silence he shriveled took his drink and left. He didn't come back for two weeks, and when he did finally return, he was always certain to name and gender me correctly
Almost a decade later, and despite my writing becoming increasingly fucked up, I think the cruellest thing I've ever done to a character is still from a novel I published online in 2017, when a boy got the mysterious sex-change virus, fell in love with being a girl and rediscovered a zest for life, and then was "cured" at the end and went back to being a boy
The epilogue of this story took place a decade after the conclusion of the main plot and had her having transitioned, but still always chasing the sheer, unfiltered joy that she had for two weeks only to have it ripped away from her
I was 'cis' when I wrote this
how long did it take for you to realize after writing that?
Six years if by writing you mean outlining, five if you mean actually completing the novel.
me when therse apple slices at the function
I don't want to hear shit about the fact that I mixed animals from different periods for panel 1. Not one word.

Sometimes they eat sand dollars : )
Sharks have 10-20 times the bite force of a human.
A sand dollar test has roughly twelve times the crushing strength of a Pringle. QED, a shark may indeed experience the crispness of a Pringle.
Love and peace on planet earth
If I had a nickel for every critically acclaimed narrative precision platformer with a female protagonist iconically associated with the colour red whose lead developer came out as trans within a year of its release, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but etc.
As much as I think it would be fun to have emotive anthropomorphic ears, I also recognize I can barely control my facial expressions. Like hell can I keep from Angry Ears-ing during meetings
This is who you’re having a meeting with, by the way.
