xKit is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Safari and thus available as extension. You can either download it on the official xkit site or in your browser store. It’s for free, nevertheless you can donate to the owner. In 2014 the xkit-guy as well released an app for iPhone. It is one of the most used and most beloved extensions for tumblr and replaced missing e as the favoured feature for using tumblr.
◆ Should I download it / why does it enhance my tumblr experience?
xKit appear as a little button between the inbox and dropdown menu button. It opens in a pop up menu when clicking on it.
xkit provides several features that can and will make your experience on tumblr easier and faster. Especially when it comes to roleplaying you can use several features such as an outbox or a quicker reblogging system. In the following I will present you some of the most important ones I use on tumblr.
◆ One-Click Reply and Quick Tags
While One-Click Reply is installed when first using xkit, it is wonderful in the combination with Quick Tags ( a full tutorial on Quick Tags can be found here ) . You get such a menu when hovering over the reblog button and then can easily either reblog it, add it to the queue or save it in your drafts ( which is amazing when seeing a reply to one of your posts ). Furthermore you can click on the URL and change the blog to reblog it to.
This outbox saves all your sent messages. While it does not save any fan mail ( it did in the past, but eventually was put down ) . It’s useful for seeing what you wrote of course, but as well for seeing old messages regarding plotting again. After installing you can find it on the right side of your inbox menu.
◆ One-Click Postage and View on Dash
Your partner wrote back and you want to put the post into your drafts? Or read the answer on your dash? With this combination it is possible. One of my most favoured features for xkit is this little improvement, which appears each time you click on a post on someones dash. From left to right you can: Like, reblog, quickreblog ( reblogs without leading you to the reblog page ) , quickqueue, quickdraft, see only the post ( without theme ) and the coding of the post, view on dash.

Drafts+ , Activity+, Mass(editor)+ > enhances those pages
Blacklist > Blacklists certain words
Header options > Fixes width of your header, puts the old direct blog before your home button and makes the bubbles red again
Reblog as text > Reblogs longer texts automatically as texts and not as links
No Sidebar > Disables the blog preview
Read More now > read more become a button to open on and view the post on your dash
Find Inactives > Finds inactive blogs. You can select which blogs are viewed as inactive ( starting from 2 weeks up to a year )
I started using xkit a long time ago and have it on both my laptop and pc. It are the little things that make tumblr easier for me through xkit. It surprise me sometimes what things are not possible without this feature. Probably the best extension it combines several features from stylish and tampermonkey.
