Hi I'm going to yap about my fanfiction, and the characters in it.
Absolutely NONE of this is canon to the SF/DAWTDE story, I don't have any knowledge of the characters outside the two videos, so a lot of the stuff here is absolute bs that I came up with (..how many HCs until a character becomes your own?) This also applies to the Dreamlands, I'm making most of the stuff up.
ALSO SPOILERS FOR THE FIC ITSELF (Heads up it IS a D3rking fic series, it's mostly implied atm but it's still there)

The main reason I made this is for fun, and boredom. It'll be random facts and stuff about family/story stuff mentioned, but accidentally not fully explained in the fic.
Anything in brackets is just me talking and not rlly story relevant
Derek!!
-6'1, 24
-His family is rather small, he had a brother (Jacob) who had died when they were younger, after that his parents had split up (when he was ~14) which led to him and his father moving from his home town of Marble Grove down in the cities. Lost most contact with his mom after that outside of the occasional phone call and holiday card.
[Jacob and Avery have a lot of similarities, I wanted to try and have their similarities cause a contrast in Derek, when trying to be a part of something dangerous that had nothing to do with him, Jacob would be able to accompany Derek. While with Avery, Derek doesn't want him having anything to do with these sorts of events.]
-After the accident that killed his brother, he spent a few weeks committed to the treatment center in Marble Grove > the one they visit in ch 14!
[Marble Grove was originally a town I invented for a short story I wrote for school, that story was what made me start writing fanfiction]
-Spent a lot of time to himself during his teens, almost going out of his way to avoid peers. Wouldn't say he had "enemies" but a lot of people dropped their smile at the mention of him.
-Has always had an interest in armory and metal work, impulsively bought an armor set in his teens which he used for a Halloween costume. Later sold it during his time in college to try and make ends meet.
-Was in school for programming before dropping out. He tells people it was because it was underwhelming, but in reality it was because of the financial strain. Later started freelance coding, in an act of desperation he bought a crappy laptop from a pawn shop that had absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Onto random useless facts and HCs!!
-The kind of guy to guess the twist in mystery movie/book halfway through, 98% level of accuracy.
-Hates spicy foods with a burning passion,
-Dresses like a homeless person on most days. Hobo Derek for life.
-Cannot keep a plant alive for the life of him, he has a lone succulent in his bathroom that is barely holding on.
-Terrible liar when looking at the person, despite the resting bitch face he has he does NOT have a poker face.
-All things considered about his life. He was pretty content and almost happy before discovering Him
Speaking of Him! A little segment on the King!
There's.. not much. On the left is how I depict Him in fan art, the tears in his cloak are meant to reveal the limbs he controls, just a fun design thing I thought was clever.
It's mentioned in Dream a Little Dream of Me that the beings in the Dreamlands can hear/see the King, it's a crude drawing but the right is about what the creatures see. Basically yellow enveloping and fusing with Derek.
-The original play was written after the King had breached into the playwright's dreams, revealing His home planet to the writer and driving them mad, their dreams began obsessively surrounded by this city until they took their life. Their dreams were so strong the city had erupted into the Dreamlands, where the King had taken His throne.
-The King really had no interest in humanity, He hadn't truly cared about His worshippers until they'd pulled Him into Elliot's body.
-instead of separating just Elliot and the King, the King had fractured in two, leading to half getting stuck to Parker's computer in desperation for a form. This eventually ended up with Derek, and the King started trying to find a way to escape, the only way to do that was a vessel. We all know how that went.
Random facts?
-He gets easily overwhelmed by loud and chaotic places, He's used to order and quiet.
-He can't handle most textures, he's still very new to having control of Derek's limb, and that means he's not used to the feeling of most things.
-has a tendency to tap His fingers against things when nervous, as well as bounce His leg.
-enjoys musical theater, the choreography and orchestral work captivates Him, but He would never admit it.
-The first few days in the hospital Derek was hooked up to a heart rate monitor, but once he was stable it was removed. During this time the King would constantly worry about Derek dying in his sleep and nobody noticing, this was when He started keeping His hand close to Derek's chest to keep track of his heart rate.
-He has an interest in food, at least in the way Derek describes it to Him.
-Thinks Derek should always have SOMETHING Yellow on, if they're sharing a body, He should have a say in what's worn.
-Over time He's begun to feel bad about everything that's happened. Now that He truly knows Derek and Avery, He can't see them as pawns for his escape, and He feels He can't make up for past events.

-Senior in highschool, has no clue what he's going to do in life (me too bro)
-Lives with his parents, has an older sister off at college already. They were really close throughout childhood, he was often made fun of for the "girly" hobbies the two of them shared. His mom is somewhat of a workaholic, he knows she cares but often feels disheartened by her priorities.
-Raised in a Christian household, he's not nearly as religious as his parents but he still follows those beliefs, often wears a cross necklace that belonged to his sister.
-THEATER KID! First started doing shows freshman year on a whim and to be with his friends and fell in love with the activity. He can be veryyy over critical of himself at times.

-His parents often lecture him about how much time he spends playing video games,
Random facts-
-He's extremely afraid his family won't support him and his sexuality (Bi mf (me too bro me too)) But in reality they've all known for years.
-My Little Pony fan, him and his sister watched the movies all the time. His favorite is the original Equestria Girls
[He makes a reference to it in chapter 8]
-He has an interest in sewing, but was always scared to act on it due to how people treated him for his interests already. When they return to the waking world, he'll start to sew and modify his clothes, and covers for the end of his arm.
-It is a miracle his arm isn't infected.
-His sister is in school for art, he used to help model poses for her to put on her portfolio
-he's the least pickiest person in existence, he would eat sun cooked chewing gum if it still had a little flavor.
-his friends would often bet him into eating weird food combos, has yet to turn one down.
-He's always wanted a brother, and even though they've only known each other for like, a month, he has begun to see Derek as such.
-He's really self conscious, but always fears showing it around friends or family, the only few people he's shown this vulnerability with is Derek and V.
Uhh uhh, I'll do more of these on side characters, if people want that. Like I said idk if people read the fic or not.

Last night I was playing on the world that doesn't exist map and pulled out TNT for something, the game almost immediately played the scariest fucking cave sound I've EVER heard. Later realized I had cave sounds/environmental noises shut off. So for the sake of my Minecraft, I'm just going to choose to believe that the world was yelling at me for threatening to blow something up

King Avery AU but they kill Derek almost instantly and now lug around his severed, slowly rotting head, first as a message to others, and a way for the King to torment whatever was left His new vessel in this body. But over time they begin acting as if it was an advisor of sorts, talking to it about strategy and just anything that came to mind. They never got any kind of response but continue regardless.
Me giving my favorite characters my own problems in fics.

Well, here we go.
The ship originated BEFORE DAWTDE, built firstly as a humorous "Oh this God is SO obsessed with a human, He built an entire world with puzzles for him to solve." And then like all humorous things, it became serious and gained traction like hell, there was even a time it was more popular than D3rlord3/Avery!
This humorous take is important to know because a lot of the ship was built around the idea of the King having an obsession with D3rlord3, back in the day mostly being depicted as D3rlord3 being forced to play the King's "knight", and it devolving into evil codependent relationship, orrr hate sex one shots.
People made stuff like this because D3rlord3 was able to withstand the King.. enough. We didn't know about the "can't look away from the screen" bit, so we assumed that he was able to survive. Which NOBODY else would've done, it was a miracle that D3rlord3 didn't drop dead two seconds later. Which also contributed to the fanon obsession the King held, "You didn't die from INFINITE KNOWLEDGE, I'm gonna keep you around for a bit."
Then DAWTDE came out, and the ship DID lose half of it's traction,
But the ending gave people a brand new concept for the two, the idea that D3rlord3 lives, and is now stuck with the King. Forced together for the rest of their lives and well, a lot can happen in a lifetime! Maybe they could come together over time. Maybe
And that's the one of the main appeals of the ship, it's between a mortal and a limitless Great Old One. The possibilities are LITERALLY endless, it has so many interesting concepts to be explored through art and fanfiction, not to mention some people just like the human/God trope.
base-line it's really no different that your usual enemies to lovers pairing. I've seen people ship two characters who have done worse things to each other lol
