i don’t want to hear anybody diminishing mel and frank’s bond when every episode just makes it clearer and clearer that he’s the only person so far that actually cares enough to check in on her, to listen to her, to try to understand her… the show is showing us that mel is desperate to connect, and the fact is, langdon’s the only character that’s been shown connecting w her, of course that means something!

and i’m not necessarily talking about romantic connection here, just, friendship, being understood and seen and cared for and considered!

And god, rehab and time away to think did wonders for Langdon as a teacher. The whole Dr. J sequence was just a thing of beauty, actually. The way he lets Victoria take over the case without question and doesn't correct her or get on her case over anything, and the way he's obviously ribbing her over being a TikTok influencer and she obviously loves being ribbed over it and plays along completely.

This is the man your students deserved last year, Frank. Bravo.

It's how Mel doesn't want to pressure Phylicia into anything. They all know what's going on, but it's up to Phylicia to ask for help and Mel isn't going to force her because that doesn't guarantee things will get better. It's the disappointment when she tells her she needs to stay and nothing else happens and how she instantly turns her head when Phylicia speaks up. She gives her the space to admit to the problem, takes a deep breath, and presents her with her options. She listens and she's kind and she's reassuring.
