"Eh, I’ll take it," Ted said, winking back at Mary before chuckling to himself. He’d gotten so used to teasing over the years that he could easily discern whether or not the words aimed at him were malicious or in jest, and Mary’s were definitely in jest. He could handle that- the laugh he gave as he again readjusted the flower crown on his head was genuine, his smile real. The reaction the true malice got? It looked a lot similar. Ted was used to feigning it. 

"I don’t know," he wondered aloud in response to Mary’s question, his eyes still focused on the clouds floating high above them. "I don’t really think about what wizards used to do, to be honest. I like how simple Muggle life was. No television, radio, telephone, airplanes. It sounds so relaxing. You actually got to know the people around you." The boy let out a wistful sigh. "Sometimes I wish we had that still."

Looking to Mary, the Hufflepuff noticed as the girl began to stammer, her cheeks reddening and her eyes darting away. It wasn’t often that Mary MacDonald looked truly taken aback, and Ted had just done exactly that. “I’m, um, I’m sorry if I just… Made things awkward. I just…”

"That makes you my king, too. Because I'm a bit of an idiot." She laughed in the slightest. "But you have to go by something more king-like. King Edward." She still teased him because she knew he hated being called Edward. "How royal."

Before her blushing fit, she noticed how Ted was so focused on the clouds. She watched him as she spoke, enthralled by his every word. "I kind of like how progressive the world is, though. I do sometimes wonder what life would have been like."

"You're  not the one who made things awkwards. I'm the one that made things awkward by blushing..." She told him, looking back when she felt the crimson fade from her cheeks and the weary girlish feeling leave the pit of her stomach. "Sorry, I don't usually do that."
