yess i know the 1800 thing is just a buncha flamboyant rich people. but im talking about the the rennessaince. it was during the reneissance when christian kabbalah emerged. thats what i mean when i say jewish and christian theologians sharing knowledge

The Christian Cabala movement had less to do with Jewish and Christian theologians sharing knowledge and much more to do with Christians musing on Jewish mysticism which were meant to be a tool of debate with Jewish religious scholars and a method of trying to convince Jews to convert.

Trust and believe, there was very little happening in Christian circles during the Renaissance that was interested in giving Jews a voice or equal footing in those conversations.

And it has little to nothing to do with the mysticism included in the RWS deck because that was based on Hermetic Qabalah, which is a different system.

The point of all this is not whether Christians and Jews have ever shared knowledge. The point is that the use of Hebrew letters and symbols in tarot is inappropriate. The sacred meanings of the alphabet and the symbol of the tetragrammaton are supposed to be secret knowledge. The tetragrammaton in particular is not even supposed to be used in casual artwork because it contains one of the secret names of God.

So....yeah, still cultural appropriation.

You’re in school, and are torn between whether you should stay with your current major or choose another one.

She is the balance between positivity and negativity. Struggle and tranquility. Darkness and the light. The two cards in your deck that precede her are the second and third cards in your reading. The two cards that follow her are the fourth and fifth.

Two and three represent one path, four and five represent the other. Cards two and four are things that will come in the near future. Three and five are things you can expect to find further along in your journey, depending of course upon which path you choose.

Basically you can type in an intent or keywords and get ideas for spells

Or you can type out everything you want and it is also color coded (key words like love are red, courage is orange, etc.) and do cyber spells

 Here’s a thing I didn’t know when I started reading Tarot that I wish I did: the Rider-Waite-Smith deck is public domain, meaning if you’re buying a deck what you’re paying for is not the images but the materials they’re printed on. So unless it’s a fancy edition or an older/antique version, don’t pay a bunch for it! I bought my original Rider Waite for probably like $18 ten years ago and that’s WAY more than it’s worth considering it’s just generic plastic-coated cardstock and started peeling almost immediately.

It also means you are free to print out copies for yourself without worrying about breaking any copyright laws. Here’s a PDF version for the deck in color, 9 cards to a page in its current arrangement, so smaller than standard but not by much. Here’s a version that’s just the line art in case you don’t have access to color printing or want to color them in yourself.

My suggestion? Go get construction paper, or if you have a little extra money, go to Michael’s and get cardstock paper in a nice pattern or color. Then get either a regular glue stick or if you can afford the extra couple bucks, buy the Elmer’s Craft Bond Extra Strength Glue Stick (it’s like $3ish at Michael’s and is designed to not oversaturate paper and make it ripple). Then print, adhere the printer paper to the construct paper/cardstock, let dry and cut out. They may be a little difficult to ruffle shuffle but beyond that it will function the same as any other deck AND if you spill coffee on your spread it’s not the end of the world, just reprint the cards you stained.

Disability in witchcraft

Occasionally I’ll see a post encouraging spoony witches. You’re still valid, as the kids like to remind each other. I admit, I’m a generation too old for this validity schtick. Personally, I always wanted to read as quasi-fictional.

I disagree. Disabled witches aren’t valid. Disabled witches are so traditional, it should practically be mandatory.

Think of Odin, one eyed. Think of Gandalf and his walking stick. Think of bent and elderly crones. Remember Merlin when he fled to the forest, terrified and haunted by memories of war.

I’m hard of hearing; I hear ghosts and gods better than people, some days. My spine is crooked and broken; the pain roots me to the earth. There are days that I cannot walk, but there aren’t any days that I can’t fly.

I’m stubborn and hardworking, and there are days that I try to fight through my pain as if it weren’t there. So I don’t always remember this, but your ailments are your teachers. Your practice isn’t acceptable despite your disability. Your disability is part of your practice. You know things that people who are merely healthy won’t know until they’re old. You know yourself in ways the healthy don’t and can’t. That’s something more wild and more true than validity. It’s power.

Now granted, people have translated Havamal in so many ways, although often the ultimate meaning is intact. Anyway, verse 71 says:

The halt can manage a horse, the handless a flock, The deaf be a doughty fighter, To be blind is better than to burn on a pyre: There is nothing the dead can do.

This may be referring specifically to warfare, but the main point is still discernable: so long as one is living, they still can play a part in this world. And let’s not forget that the book is ultimately a guide on how to be a welcoming, kind person, while not tolerating injustice (although admittedly, verse 75 is a bit sketchy, as is the distrust of women. It’s a product of its time.)

In conclusion, Nazis are asshats, and we should be kind to people except them.
