I found a guide for a no tape, easy to unwrap wrapping tutorial to make Christmas a little more accessible, wish I just found it sooner
Could i not have seen that before Christmas? Anyway, queueing this for next december to save a life.
This is how they wrap surgical sets before sterilizing them (in a cloth not paper...god I wosh the cloth is a pain in the ass) except when they tuck the last bit in, they fold it over so the end is poking out of the box (like a pull tab).
It's weird how there was no second Old Guard movie. They didn't make one at all. I think some people were confused and said there was an Old Guard 2 but that wasn't accurate.
Author Layla Moran Plagiarizing Fanfics
I haven't seen much about this here, and I was just made aware of it by a crosspost on the r/AO3 sub, but there's a self-published author of MM and FF novels who has been plagiarizing fics from AO3. In fact, at this point, it appears that her entire catalog may be plagiarized fics. Her pen name is Layla Moran (not the British MP). She also publishes Sapphic books under the name Rey Luca.
Here is the original post from the r/MM_RomanceBooks sub detailing the accusations, including evidence comparing passages of some of the books to fics published on AO3.
Here is a link to a comment on that sub from a user who made a spreadsheet of all of Layla Moran's and Rey Luca's published works and the fanfics they were stolen from. They have stolen from a variety of fandoms and authors, from Pilgrimage (2017), Dragon Age, Supernatural, and others.
Most of their books on Amazon written under the Layla Moran pen name have been taken down, but most of her sapphic books under the Rey Luca name are still up, even the ones that have been shown to be plagiarized. She has several other sapphic books that have not yet been linked to any fic, but given that her entire MM catalog appears to be plagiarized, it's not crazy to assume all her works are. If you have published any F/F fic on AO3, please check and see if she has stolen your work.
everyone make sure you leave out the milk and cookies and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife and knife tonight 🥰
figured it would be nice to wrap up this sketch this weekend! :-) 🌟💛
Hey so I need some more audience help for the Big Project I’m doing for my big final exhibition for my course. (Absolutely detest the way this project is being ran, it’s aimless, doesn’t make any sense, we’re not really allowed to have anything for a final in mind at this stage which is insane because it’s been running for like 5 months already, I’m ready to explode, But I Digress).
So far my project is called Tender Comrade(?) which will be a selection of illustrations/designs of some sort (as wearables? Prints? As a physical scene? Who Knows atp) that both showcases a complicated and forgotten period of LGBTQ+ history during the 20th century and subverts traditional military content using LGBTQ+ themes that, today, calls for us to embrace societally perceived feminine behaviours in masculine people and encourages men’s healthier interactions interplaying masculinity and femininity. The exhibition will be near Pride Month as well.
So far, the content is inspired by this moodboard of homoerotic posters (below) of old photography, beefcake magazines, and some mock propaganda posters of my own.
But you can help me out with my presentation tomorrow morning by just answering 8 yes/no questions on this Google Form about being an LGBTQ+ person that will help support the theories behind the project. There is an extra 6 yes/no questions for LGBTQ+ men/masculine presenting people/people who have at any point been persistently perceived masc or male but feel free to answer whatever questions are applicable to your personal experience. Responses are anonymous of course. My lecturer was basically like LGBTQ+ history isn’t relevant enough to make art about so help me prove her wrong!
Thanks for anyone that can help!
One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:
It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and
Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.

“No matter how it was collected, where it was collected, when it was collected, our language belongs to us," said Ray Taken Alive, a Lakota teacher.

this is vile
STANDING ROCK INDIAN RESERVATION, S.D. — Ray Taken Alive had been fighting for this moment for two years: At his urging, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council was about to take the rare and severe step of banishing a nonprofit organization from the tribe’s land.
The Lakota Language Consortium had promised to preserve the tribe’s native language and had spent years gathering recordings of elders, including Taken Alive’s grandmother, to create a new, standardized Lakota dictionary and textbooks.
But when Taken Alive, 35, asked for copies, he was shocked to learn that the consortium, run by a white man, had copyrighted the language materials, which were based on generations of Lakota tradition. The traditional knowledge gathered from the tribe was now being sold back to it in the form of textbooks.
