There are multiple chapters that are set in hospitals where the characters are attempting to recover from injuries that never fully heal. I must once again stress that my experience in WWI was perfectly normal.

There is a giant horrible mudplain full of unrecoverable and perfectly preserved dead bodies that the characters have to walk through in a land where the air is poisoned gas, and on a compLETELY UNRELATED NOTE: WWI WAS TOTALLY FINE AND NORMAL!!

I thought deeply about this yesterday because i'm PMSing so my suicidal ideation is 100x worse. I figured out that i'm mainly alive at this point out of respect for various people in my life who have supported me through difficult times. Just feel like it would be a dick move to kill myself after all that. Otherwise though? If all those specific people were to die somehow, then I wouldn't have a reason to keep going.

What helps me though:

• Meeting people with similar struggles and values to myself, makes me feel less alone

• Reading and writing. I have a reason to wake up the next day - I haven't finished reading or writing xyz

• Remembering that things used to be much worse and I could have never predicted any improvement, so it's too early for me to say "it can't get better from here"
