begging queer kids to read up on princess diana’s involvement with the community. yes, she was a rich, pretty monarch. yes, she died young.
but the reason why queer people love her is because she used her privilege during the aids crisis to advocate for sick queer men, when very few others would - much less someone of her status.
diana spent years advocating for the health and care of queer people with hiv/aids. in 1987, at the height of the epidemic, she opened the first specialist clinic dedicated to treating aids patients (the first clinic of it’s kind in the uk).
she also fought public hysteria by hugging and shaking bare hands with aids patients, at a time when aids was thought to be spread by skin to skin contact. not only that, she visited patients in the clinic regularly and even comforted them through their sickness.
and when queen elizabeth told her to try focusing on “something more pleasant”?
diana ignored her and kept fighting.
and this is only her work towards the aids crisis. she publicly called out the royal family, brought attention to numerous world issues, and was known as an advocate for empathy and kindness. she’s known and loved as the people’s princess for good reason

It's funny but incredibly telling how entitled/ignorant/insensitive some of these people are... idk if it's an education gap or purposeful ignorance.
The really bewildering thing to me is that I remember when you needed to get up and pull a dictionary off the shelf, or visit a library to look up the facts you needed. Now people have all kinds of information literally at their fingertips and they can’t be bothered to use it.

I feel like Percy winning that fight is very glossed over later on. The gods should have roasted Ares for the rest of the series, low key. Like during SOM when Ares threatens Clarisse, Hermes pops up with a message from Athena that reads ‘Dear Ares, you cannot say one of your sons should complete this quest when you lost a duel to a 12-year-old’ and he just gets pissed off and leaves. Later on, during winter council, Artemis is just “Ares, you lost a fight to a 12-year-old, you don’t get to vote” and then they move on. During TLO when the Ares cabin says they won’t fight, the Stoll brothers could have just thrown in ‘I mean, would they have even helped? Their dad lost a duel to a 12-year-old’
I’m just saying. The Stolls might have been killed for it, but the rest of the gods were very polite about the whole thing lol.
