I am tickled by the idea that Charles has known he’s bi since like 1986 and known Edwin was gay since they met and assumed Edwin also knew both of those things because, like, it’s obvious? And that Edwin was just being Edwardian about it

Which he was fine with, because he’s not gonna overstep Edwin’s boundaries and also he was feeling rather AIDS-crisis about it too, to be entirely honest

Like, he considered this pretty much confirmed as what they were gonna do before he even died, when he asked Edwin about kissing to feel him out, as you do, and Edwin did the most blatantly closeted “mm-mm” the world has ever seen. Charles knows what a Discreet man looks like when he sees one, okay, he’s not blind

Edwin’s clearly got some issues with his own sexuality because he’s never dated anyone in 35 years but it’s not like he’s actually hiding from Charles - anyone with eyes can tell he’s gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide - so Charles figures they’re solid and politely matches Edwin’s silence on the topic

So when he eventually realized that Edwin genuinely did not know he was gay before Port Townsend he was flabbergasted. Like… desperately trying not to say out loud “No offense, mate, but have you seen yourself?”

And then Edwin says later on “it is alright, Charles, I know your tastes do not incline towards men, you do not have to try to change yourself for me, I would never ask such a thing” and Charles is like wait hang on. You… you thought I had to Figure Things Out because I was under the impression I was straight??? Have you seen me?!?! I’ve dated like four guys since we met!

(Edwin, blinking in bewilderment: I thought you were just very good friends. Charles, even more bewildered: I kissed Derek right in front of you! And you got all upset about it so I broke up with him! Edwin: Yes, a friend kiss. Because you were better friends with him than me. Charles: NO!)

I actually finished this piece like over a week ago but I have been mega busy with convention prep and selling at a bring and buy sale and a convention that I have only just got chance to post this!!!

This is based on a Leyendecker painting called Golf or Tennis (there is two versions of the painting this is based of the one with two women mostly.)

This is also my piece for the Dead Boy Detectives Pride Charity Calendar which I am proper excited to take part in. It's gonna be mint. i also did a quote piece for it (and maybe will get a cheeky second piece done, we shall see)

it's almost pride month again. what a great reminder for Please Be Normal about these people:

- aromantic people who aren't asexual.

- asexual people who aren't aromantic.

- cishet aromantic and cishet asexual people.

- aromantic men in general.

- intersex people who are trans.

- intersex people who are are cis.

- intersex people who are cistrans/tris and those who are neither.

- intersex people who are cishet.

- intersex people in general.

- nonbinary people who don't personally identify as transfem or transmasc.

- nonbinary people who don't want to be androgynous.

- cis people who use neopronouns and/or xenogenders while still feeling cis fits just fine.

- people who feel gender dysphoria or misgendered when referred to by they/them, especially after telling you not to use they/them.

Had soooo much fun doing this project and I'm so happy I got to be apart so enjoy a rainy day with the boys <333

I know the thought of Charles beating the daylights out of The Cat King is delightful.

Even the thought of Edwin being the one to throw his first ever successful punch into TCKs face.

But Crystal is the one who canonically takes her earrings out and beats the shit out of someone for a small slight. Imagine the damage she'd do if she found out that TCK was harassing Edwin.

She knows fuck boys. She condemns sexual harassment of others. She's a fierce protector of her friends.

Charles wouldn't have the chance to pull the cricket bat out of the bag before Crystal has TCK on the ground to curb stomp him.

Thinking abt the boys and what their stims would be.

Edwin is a visual stimmer, loves watching lava lamps and sensory bottles. He likes moving lights and just really enjoys sitting down and watching pretty things. (Yes that includes Charles)

He's also a physical stimmer, when he's stressed he presses his knuckles together. He sways when he's happy, moves his hands when he speaks. He enjoys the movement.

Charles is also a physical stimmer, taping his pen on their shared desk, bouncing his leg, throwing a ball up and down. He's always moving.

He's also an audio stimmer, loves music and blasting it in his ears. Likes listening to songs over and over and over again to hear different parts more clearly, listening to the beat or the lyrics and then changing it up. He also likes listening to Edwin's voice, feeling how soothing and caring it is. How he changes his voice for each character, it's aces.
