One of the many reasons I loved the dream SMP was 1) because it was comprised mainly of pvpers and speedrunners, with hardly any building or redstone specialists, and 2) entering the End was forbidden and the End never factored into the SMP at any point. It led to a lack of resources and infrastructure that gave the server a medieval feeling to it. Players who accumulated a lot of resources usually did so through solo grinding. No one could make communal resource farms because they'd all be at risk of becoming pieces in the geopolitical war games, and/or being destroyed (I think the only piece of communal infrastructure that survived unscathed was the underground spider farm near the Eggpire). People didn't have elytra, and roads were constantly being destroyed, so the primary method of rapid transportation was Riptide tridents, which as far as I'm aware is pretty unique to the Dream SMP and showcases the really awesome and interesting alternatives that can develop in a no-End lategame. God the dog-eat-dog worlds that a bunch of bored men create are hell to live in and absolutely marvellous to tell stories in. The SMPs with End access and reliable resource reserves and infrastructure just can't compare.
Tony Stark who gives DUM-E kisses.
After oiling DUM-E’s joints every once in a while? A quick kiss to his metal arm before getting up and telling the robot to get back to work.
After DUM-E gets scolded and pouts for a while too long? “Hey, come on, buddy. You know I love you.” Before giving him a pat on the back (arm?) accompanied by a light kiss that immediately puts DUM-E back in a good mood.
DUM-E loves it. He’ll linger with his claw in Tony’s face until Tony reluctantly gives him a kiss, after which he’ll twirl his claw in the air and trill happily as he rolls away.
One day Peter is in the lab and DUM-E is being persistent about getting a kiss from Tony, who is slightly hesitant to do so while Peter is there. But DUM-E had just brought Tony a tool he’d asked for and now refuses to stop waving his claw right in Tony’s face, so—
“DUM-E, you did good. Okay? Thanks. Now— can you give me some space? I’m busy here.” Tony sighs, to which DUM-E politely refuses. “Jesus, fine.” The genius mutters before planting a quick kiss to DUM-E’s claw. “There. You happy now?” He asks, watching as DUM-E trills happily and waves his claw in the air.
Then he spots Peter out of the corner of his eye, the kid’s mouth twisted into a poorly concealed smirk.
“Shut up.” Tony grumbles, turning back to his work.
“I didn’t say anything!” Peter cackles. Admittedly, he was about to.
Currently writing an irondad fic where they slowly become father and son (and Tony doesnt know Peter is Spider-Man) here’s a little excerpt from the next chapter:
“Um—I could use your help.”
“You need a hospital. Did you walk in like this? The hell happened to you?”
Peter brushed him off. The shake in his voice betrayed his state. “I don’t need a hospital. Listen, I can’t really reach back there. If you could just—you know—”
Tony raised his eyebrows. “If I could just?”
Peter hesitated. “I got shot on the way home. Could you—could you take it out?”
Tony’s eyes didn’t leave his bloodied midsection and the crimson hand gripping the slippery tweezers. “The bullet? You—Pete, I’m no—are you insane? You got shot?”
Peter began to shake his head, but stopped when it made him too dizzy. “Nevermind. I can do it. Just—go make the curly fries.”

leigh bardugo has massively edited and rewritten the six of crows books and no one has noticed
or has for some reason decided not to mention it at all or let anyone else know.
I just found out something insane today. in the new dregs editions that came out for the 10th anniversary, leigh bardugo has removed any and all mention of the crows being teenagers, cut out whole sentences and completely changed quotes that are classic and very well known by fans of the six of crows duology. she’s replaced any mention of words like ‘children’ ‘boy’ ‘girl’ and ‘kids’ with ‘man’ ‘woman’ ‘grown’ etc
this is concerning, bewildering and just feels wrong for so many reasons. but besides the obvious —which is that the six protagonists of the duology being young is essential to many aspects of the plot, seeing as their world weariness and competence is a result of their experiences as children and survivors who are victims of their environment—besides even that, editing a piece of literature that’s been published and on shelves for 10 years is objectively not a good idea at all, and doesn’t at all take into account the new contexts and connotations the new wording brings.
above is an example of the original scene we know verses the new version. lots of it has changed, namely their ages, but the sentence at the end in matthas' pov doesn't even sound like him at all. her writing quality has declined noticeably and she sounds like she wrote that sentence in a rush. it makes no sense, and it's not something matthias, who knows practically nothing about the barrel, would be thinking.
and not to mention the famous line 'brekker's eyes were ancient, but he couldn't be any older then matthias' — cut out of the book completely. I do wonder what impact, effect and influence these changes will have on new readers.
this is another example. such a classic line and they cut it completely.
the entire books are like this. inej saying kaz looking seventeen is changed to kaz looking like someone's apprentice. the boy of the barrel changed to man. criminal prodigy changed to just mastermind. inej described as a woman in place of a sixteen year old girl. wylan changed from boy to young man. full scenes cut. 'jesper is zemeni but don't hold it against him' changed to ‘don’t let him wax sentimental about it’ which sounds way worse then the original.
and I don't actually own the new copies of these books, my best friend was looking at them in a bookstore and that's when we first noticed all of the changes. so I truly have no idea what else could possibly be changed besides the things I noticed as I cannot look at them for reference - the crow's physical appearance, more of the plot, other famous scenes just being cut completely, etc. if nothing else has changed, then it’s still way too much and massively changes core aspects of the books. but I do wonder. if you own the dregs special editions, I suggest looking for similar differences. I might have to write examples to express how messed up the new connotations are.
leigh now implies that jesper, an adult black man, made the right choice by handing over his share from his job to his white father to keep for you, as he cannot control himself and isn't ready to receive his own funds, as he is a mindless gambler. this is extremely different to a reckless irresponsible teenager grieving his mother and making stupid mistakes, and then deciding to make better decisions in the future with help from his parent. I'm sure you can see without me spelling it out how awful, racist and problematic the new context of jesper being a grown man makes this situation sound.
another example is matthias' childhood centrally seeing him be groomed, manipulated and indoctrinated by a nazi coded witch hunting organisation that targets grisha, an oppressed community, with the intention of torturing, burning, hanging, raping and eradicating them from the world
matthias is just turning 18 when he meets nina. he has not yet done any of these terrible things himself. he is fresh out of training and still basically a child. his views are first challenged, and he eventually breaks out of the brainwashing and mental manipulation that has been taught and instilled in him with repetition. it's not an excuse, but it's more understandable. matthias, now a grown man apparently way older then 18, has no excuse for these bigoted views as he is way more mature, has way more experience, and would have had to have done these horrific things to grisha at some point.
it feels like some sort of fever dream that six of crows was edited and re published so that these famous teenage characters (who were first written so obviously— in dialogue, actions, pov, - as teenagers) and their criminal prodigy leader were made into poorly written adults. I can put into words how much this has deeply bothered and distressed me and many other readers I've spoken to.
it's such an odd choice and makes me think it was done to soften the backlash the shadow and bone adaption received from some fans for aging up the characters in the first place.
I cannot stress this enough- leigh bardugo would edit iconic lines and change core aspects of her characters that have been around for 10 years to justify a cancelled netflix adaption of these incredibly popular and well loved books. it's odd and uncomfortable.
now, these books mean the world to me, they have quite literally got me through physical, mental and emotional childhood abuse, suicide ideation and self harm, the everyday ableism and oppression, chronic pain and disability experience, severe depression and anxiety, absolute hopelessness, work and life, etc) but the sheer absurdity of this all just outmatches my distress that it happened. it feels like some sort of hallucination becasue it's lowkey just insane. she never even mentioned she was going to do something like this?
there is just no conceivable reason for leigh bardugo to have done this secretly and quietly other then to have stopped people negatively critiquing the show or some other deeply odd notion. and with all of these changes, the new books absolutely are not the 'dregs' editions— the heart of the dregs is the young blood, 'the kids like kaz who he had brought in a organised, who worked the hardest and took the worst jobs'
they are the bad netflix adaption editions. the sympathy for terrible adult cast editions. it's troubling, clearly not a well thought out decision, and deeply bizarre. tell me others agree.
hey guys. I hope jax abstracts. Not because I hate him, I don’t hate him. Because I LOVE HIM. He is my FAVORITE AND I HOPE HE DIES. Do you understand?

Can you imagine like,,, an alternate universe that the main characters get thrust into where everyone who is good is bad and everyone who is bad is good. And (it’s a pretty shallow universe if we’re doing good vs evil but bear with me) the mc can’t trust their friends bc they are evil now, but they feel wierd trusting their enemies. The ONLY PERSON that remains the same is the morally gray character. So thats who they go to for help
Character A and character B looking at each other after character C(morally gray) opens the door: what has life come to
Character C: well well well, would you look who it is
I am but a simple woman. All I require is a hidden identity and complicated/differing feelings on either side of the identities and I am satisfied
Differences in Greek mythology is the same as present day fanon arguments
Not all angry women have female rage and that’s okay. People think that if female and rage they must have female rage. The term is so watered down. Female rage is when a woman is angry and frustrated due to being discriminated MAINLY because her gender. (Not saying racism isn’t a factor, but misogyny has to be THERE)
It is the response to misogyny , and most of the time, it is frustration that has been building up for quite some time
GREAT DAY FOR ANNOYING PEOPLE

Most of my fics will now be ao3 user only
All fics I might make with be ao3 user only. I’m not going to change all of them (I don’t have time for that lol) but I have changed some of my largest one
I’m not just saying this to inform you guys, I also want to make my reasons clear, because things are REALLY going out of hand at this point.
First and foremost: AI data scrapping. Literally no one wants their writing to be used to train AI. Fanfic is supposed to remain on ao3. It’s theft and plagiarism. You can find so many ppl talking abt this in more depth.
Then there’s also the sheer spread of fanfic. I’m gonna be honest, the publicity and normalization of fanfic is scaring me. There are ppl accessing fanfic easily and without any prior introduction to the space. Some of them do not know fandom etiquette and really do not know what to do with all of the information they are given.
This also leads to my third point, it’s kind of intertwined with the second. Fanfic is being commercialized. Fanfic itself isn’t being sold, but it is being treated like a commercialized object. We brought capitalism to the ANTITHESIS of capitalism. More than people using and sharing it and being open with it, actual companies are using fanfic to market their books. There’s been so many recent things to come out, with that one article of recs and that whole dramione thing and probably others rhat I’m forgetting.
Making fanfics private doesn’t solve everything. It will only ward it against people who don’t care enough to get an account. But it’s a step. Ao3 is one of the best platforms we can have for this. It’s really other platforms, like TikTok, where most of the problems happen and exist. I don’t even know how one would go about solving this. Every day fanfic becomes more normalized and it seems to encourage companies to exploit it.
Fandom is changing and not for the better
Re reading the original hunger games is so funny bcus katniss can literally read haymitch's mind like what. I'm dying of thirst but haymitch hasn't sent me water, that must mean that there's some nearby!! And one kiss is one pot of broth!! Like she even acknowledges that it's strange when she's like oh to peeta this would just be a pot of broth. Haymitch will give her one look and katniss knows immediately what he means and she's right every time
Meanwhile peeta is like your dress really suits you and you look nice :) and katniss is like he's trying to kill me
Haymitch and katniss were just really big overthinkers at heart
idk if this is a young fan thing or new fandom culture but some of yall think fics are abandoned way too quickly. a few months or a year or two is not unusual to go without a fic update. sometimes fics take longer to write, other times writers have rl events, or maybe there's multiple fics and one gets more priority. there are tons of reasons for fics not to be updated every week or every month. it also isn't uncommon for people to come back and update fics after a number of years—ive read updates that took five, or ten years. people's lives change, but they still want to tell their stories. personally, i never consider a fic abandoned unless the author has said so; though if it's been a few years i manage my expectations. but a last update being a year ago is... generally not a sign that a writer has abandoned their fic
That! Exactly that!!! Writers have lives and writing is hard! It takes time. Stop assuming fics are abandoned!
Original fic usually goes through this same process before being commercially published. Readers just don't know that bc they aren't receiving it in bite-size chunks online. Large periods of stagnant writing are historically just another Monday for most writers.
This☝️.
I love writing because I’m the kind of person who has a horrible memory of my life/experiences so what do you MEAN I can just read something I wrote and be transported into that time? What do you mean I can remember why I wrote this this way and what I was going through at this time? Like whenever I reread something, I do remember who I was when I first read it, but something I’ve written?? It’s like a literal time machine but now I have more context. Im psychoanalyzing my past self. Like “oh, all of my characters from this time had trouble accepting who they were. Huh. I didn’t even know that shone through.”
Anyway writing is amazing and if you’re a writer definitely read your past works even if they’re bad and you hate them because they might teach you something about yourself
Not Haymitch being the legal guardian of Katniss in Capitol and District 13.
In mockingjay,
Haymitch is annoyed about Katniss ripping off her earpiece, and he is showing her different PERMANENT earpiece option as a threat.
He specifically says, " I will AUTHORIZE them to surgically implant this transmitter into your ear".
Authorize, not ask them or tell them but AUTHORIZE.
That imples he has had to NOT authorize previous District 13 demands. Just like in the Capitol with breast enhancement surgery.
Few pages back, Asterid says how she didn't know Katniss was going to 8 till she was already gone. And Katniss goes, I'm sorry I'll ask them to clear everything with you.
And asterid replies, "Katniss no one clears anything from me".
Asterid is not Katniss' Legal Guardian anymore, Haymitch is. He has been running around for god knows how long keeping her safe and sane.
The I wonder is he the reason Katniss got discharged from the hospital while Finnick stays in a drug haze?
Is he the reason they leave her be when she doesn't follow schedule?
Is he the reason they let her hide in pipes and closets?
And I'm reminded of lil Haymitch taking care of even littler children during his games. Wondering why they all come to him. And he's fails to keep any one of them alive.
Except Katniss. That's a daughter thrusted to him. And he's trying so fucking hard to not let her die too.
I'm gonna go cry now
