New Years are always kinda sad for me.
Another year passed in loneliness.
Another year without a significant dating experience.
I know that life isn’t supposed to be about relationship. We are supposed to make our own happiness. Create a happy, fun and fulfilling existence for ouselves independent of others.
But we are indoctrinated with the idea that we need another person to complete us and fill a void in our lives, and it’s a little scary when that hasn’t or isn’t happening year after year after year.
“There’s nothing wrong with you.”
“It’ll happen when you least expect it.”
“You’re so unique...it’s going to take time to find a good one.”
“It’s not you, men are jerks.”
“You don’t need to surgically change yourself.”
“You’re too busy...the right guy won’t be able to catch you.”
I’m tired of being lied to.
They mean well, but it’s generally people who have been in a relationship for a long time. Found their person early, and while they haven’t always been the happiest have really stuck it through.
Pretty and attractive people who don’t have a clue what it’s like to live life as an under attractive being. I think it’s hard for them, especially other women, to grasp that there are categories of women that most men stay far away from...it’s not really an equal opportunity.
Frustrated but not dead. I’m told that this single life is also acceptable, but waking up alone and dating myself is getting kind of old.
