Modern AU Lahan, Jinshi, and Basen

I mentioned Lahan and Jinshi being roommates before, but I've always wanted to add Basen to the mix. They're the same age canonically, so it would make sense for them to share a room in university.

I'd like to think Maomao went to their dorm to give something to Lahan (Fengxian asked her to), and met Jinshi, in which Lahan introduces them. Basen and Jinshi would definitely still be childhood friends due to their parents, and I think they'd all get along decently well with the inclusion of Lahan.

This is repeating from my previous posts but I think Lahan would be majoring in mathematics, whereas Jinshi would be doing something like business or economics. I'd like to think Basen is a law student and often gets mad at the other two for their strange behaviour.

Jofu definitely lives with them (without permission from the university). She chews up Lahan's papers.

watching water 7 again with Tri (who is watching it for the first time) and losing my MIND again over Franky and Iceburg. two sides of the same coin. shipbuilder and shipbreaker. when we first hear about Franky it's about how he runs a crew of bounty hunters that beat pirates up and destroy their ships and like, from our main characters' perspective (being pirates) this is bad, but we see only just before then how pirates DO menace Water 7, how the shipbuilders are heroes partly because they knock down the ones that get cocky

it's the city of water and we see how water is life, they use it for everything, it runs the elevators and enables their transportation and allows the sea train, but every year Aqua Laguna sweeps over the town and the seas creep higher and water is also death and destruction, and this TOO is Iceburg and Franky, foremost sons of the city of water, two humans abandoned and raised by a fishman and a mermaid--who in their own turn chose to live on land. i am SHAKING it in my teeth. the mayor who united the seven shipbuilding companies, and the biggest gang leader in the city.

and the people fear NEITHER of them!!! franky gets heckled for running around in his speedo!! iceburg steps onto the dock and the workers immediately want to hear his opinions and get his advice as a craftsman!! both of them watched the world government drag away their beloved teacher and both of them blamed franky for it forever but that's a separate post and each in his own way made himself too much trouble to kill. the shipyards and the City Hall; the junkyards and the Franky Family's house. each man became what he could, what his city needed him to be. i am simply never going to stop being insane about Water 7. best arc.

It will never be more annoying just how easy it is to misunderstand Kuina’s death.

Like, there’s two main points to it. Kuina was the strongest person Zoro knew, the only person he couldn’t beat. She was invincible to him, a goal he needed to reach and he wanted her right there besides him in order to reach it. So for her to die so easily and so mundanely was a shattering of that perspective of her- it’s ironic in the worst ways possible.

And also, the cards were stacked against Kuina from the beginning. She believes as she grows she will become weaker, and by all accounts she was proven right. Misogyny killed Kuina and ended her dreams just before they began. Anyone can easily look at her death and mock her existence, “of course any weak little girl would die falling down the stairs. Women are helpless in this world, frail and unable to do anything right.”

Stairs are not the point of Kuina’s death- misogyny, mortality, and the cruelty of life are the point. And that’s why to me, she haunts Zoro’s narrative and is always present alongside him. She’s the one person Zoro could never beat, the one who represents everything.
