I dont have friends in my hometown so I've been sitting like a duck feeling alone and hopeless for two months. So I am forcing myself to atleast go out by myself and sit at a cafe. This is my second attempt
Trying so hard to shake out the awkwardness while I watch people live. My drinks awesome tho yay
update on how it went
I knew I wouldnt make friends by just going to a cafe, drinking coffee and reading a book but I am still heavily disappointed that I didnt made any. I know thats how things go but yk. Sad
Still I was very brave I sat there, looked around to the people hanging with their friends wirh the biggest longing ever. Wanted to go up to some girls and chat but I didnt wanna be creepy. Read my book as much as I could. Really sat there for over an hour maybe. Which is very long for me. Felt like hours.
The coffee was okay, I liked the taste but I only drank it to fit in and experience it really. Coffees not really my thing. The book was great. Loved making some progress in it. Sitting there felt like I did not belong and was a loser tho. I mean I am a loner so...
But. I tried!! I even went up to some girls and complimented them. I kinda wanted to chat a little more but I was wayy to awkward lmao. Practice makes better? We'll try again next time!!!
I'll learn to like. Just hang out outside and have my own fun but for now irs this miserable act of trying to act like a human being. I know I should act natural and just do what I like but. Starting is so hard. And the scariest thing is I'm not even sure going to cafes is going to work. Maybe I should sign up for a class or sth
That is incredibly brave. I might do something similar with going to the library, since it's always got little events out front and it's never been strict about talking. It's also somewhere that will always give me something to talk about. I don't think it'd ever get me anywhere, but it's worth thinking about. If only it wasn't incredibly hot rn

How… how do you plan long form stories…
@mer-acle
idk who to tag ur the only long fic writer I know 😭
uhm
not well
I'm generally a bullet point girlie, but only when I get overwhelmed, I usually don't plan the story on paper that much.
Here are some things I have done in the past depending on the issue
I have a bunch of scenes but idk how to arrange them and how to connect them: Make a whiteboard (for example on canva, or just do it irl). Put each of your scenes on a post-it note. You can now arrange them in different sequences and it can help to form connections
This is how this turned out for CN in my case (the in between text is the connections I found this way)
I have no scene ideas but I can't do THE BIG PLOT yet: For Ftbl, I did literal day-by-day schedules in bullet points. Everything that happened on day 2. I didn't write out everything in the end but maybe something interesting happened and I would add that to the actual fic. The idea is that you basically look at your story like you're just an observer who's writing down what happens.
But I don't want to write the boring in between stuff: AU Series. This is basically how Silent Wars works. I can work on whatever work I feel like and just add scenes that catch my interest at every point in the timeline. This can really help if you have a tendency to get overwhelmed or demotivated by a big narrative that takes a while to get to your favorite scenes and I feel like it could be a good transition from short to longform content. The disadvantage is that it's harder to keep up with for readers.
also it really helps to get a writing buddy (@luskaandsissi hi twin ily) even if it's just to talk about your work, you might figure stuff out from taking aloud, and they might see connections you don't atm.
@themostrandommoon @animehaircolors @therapybard @dyingroses summoning some longform fic writers for their wisdom
This may sound wild, but I don't recommend trying to plan out everything before starting unless that is super your style. For me, I have a beginning, middle, and ending in mind that way I can always know what I'm headed towards and have a firm place to start. I typically do detailed outlines for four chapters in a row, write that chunk, then outline again. That works better for me since often times my best ideas come while writing.

Genuine attempt to accurately make myself
it's so fucking frustrating to be in college and know everyone uses chatgpt and to be tempted by it constantly while also knowing intellectually that it doesn't work and it's a bad idea. like, i hang out in the library a lot, and i see people using chatgpt on assignments almost every day. and i know it isn't a good way to learn, because it's not really "artificial intelligence" so much as it is an auto text generator. and it gives you wrong information or badly worded sentences all the time. but every week i stare down assignments i don't want to do and i think man. if only i could type this prompt into a text generator and have it done in 10 minutes flat. and i know it wouldn't work. it wouldn't synthesize information from the text the way professors want, it wouldn't know how to answer questions, it just spits out vaguely related words for a couple paragraphs. but knowing my classmates get their work done in 10 minutes flat with it while i fight every ounce of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in my body is infuriating.
i think one thing that's been really helpful in keeping myself from using it is thinking about Why i have to do the specific assignments i have. like what is the actual goal. like some assignments the goal isn't "share a story about parenting styles in ur personal life" so much as it is "show you understand the concept of parenting styles thru a story". or it's not "how do hormones impact teenagers' decision making abilities" it's "can you understand, reword, synthesize, and explain the information in the text and videos to explain how hormones impact teenagers' decision making abilities". and looking at it as "this assignment is asking me to read some words and then understand and explain them, which is a skill i want to have" rather than "i have to answer these stupid questions that seem really obvious because all my professors want me to die forever" has helped. especially in a world where everyone uses chatgpt i want to know how to read with my own brain
I think of Bloom's Taxonomy with this kind of thing :3c It helps me get past the stage of "ugh you KNOW i know this though, why do i have to do this?" Because, remembering is the lowest form on the triangle, and by that, it's like the simplest. Everything higher needs the previous skills. Kind of a cool chart for what OP described above, the understanding, the rewording, synthesizing, all these other skills that are being checked besides knowing/remembering.
(I personally can't fathom why someone would go to college to outsource even the most basic steps of learning to a predictive slop machine, even as someone who skipped more assignments than I should have in my first years of uni. To me, it seems like they're wasting their 10 minutes and at the end the true work of the assignment isn't even done bc the prof wouldn't like. know if they're meeting the content or taxonomy level goals???? but what do i know)
Reblogging this. Remind me in five years when I'm a teacher that I need to be mindful of what and how I teach.
I'm doing group work in many of my courses and recently my group partner came up to me and said "you've inspired me to stop using chatgpt, I want to understand how it works" and I've never felt more proud of being mediocre at assignments
Fight I'm having now as someone who wants to fully understand everything I learn in my classes and not fuck up the environment/feed the AI bubble, but also gets overwhelmed easily and wants to cry looking at the all the work I need to do every week.
claim your star
*this is not to shame anybody. if you used to use chatgpt in the past but have stopped, kudos to you, this post still includes you. if you are still using chatgpt, then I guess I can’t stop you — but if you ever decide to stop using it in the future, you may then claim your star too

reblog to send your mutuals a hug. maybe just the thought is enough to cheer them up 🥺
I cannot begin to stress how important Alysa Liu is to a sport like figure skating. This is a sport that is rife with abuse and that has silenced women and has forced them to do as they’re told in order to win medals. This is a sport where authoritative figures exercise an immense amount of control over athletes from their childhoods.
Alysa left the sport because of burn out. Because of what she went through. When she came back, she said that she’d skate to whatever music that she wanted. That she’d be in charge of her training schedule. That she’d be able to take a very active role in choreographing her programs and choosing her costumes. Her entire comeback has been about her taking authority over her career. She is in charge of her own career, as it should be. As it should always be.
And she is now the Olympic Champion. Her trajectory is proof that an athlete taking control of their training, of their joy, and of their competitive career is absolutely paramount to success in sport.
gang, what do u guys think of me?

I'm starting to think I should expand on this since it's kinda weird to just have the one word. IDK Something about a dark abyss that's mostly blackness, but your eyes are drawn to the sparks of light that make it all worth it. That's sort of the vibes of your fanfiction.
