The writing has begun...

Hey hey hey! I'm back posting on tumblr again and for good reason this time!

I've actually started writing the story so far. As of right now, I have six chapters of the rough draft done. It's almost 11k words so far and I'm really proud of the work that I have done. And the reason I want to be posting it here, on tumblr, is because this is probably one of the core reasons that I have pursued any interest in writing.

I want to post early versions of the story in multiple places so I can have multiple people helping me make an inclusive story that uplifts the communities I include, giving them a voice of some kind in the story.

So, TLDR; Thank you, tumblr. Here's chapter 1 in the early stages.

Sci Fi Romance Chapter 1

I started writing Gotham fanfiction for tumblr when I was 15/16 on my grandmother's laptop. She never used it and ended up giving it to me anyway. I pretty quickly shifted to The Flash, my love of Tom Cavanaugh giving me a couple of years worth of one shots and short stories in the fandom and man, I used to love that so much. I still do, although reading my writing from back then does make me cringe. It has been a decade at this point.

From there, I moved to AO3 and I've posted there pretty consistently for a decent amount of time. Mostly original characters shipped with my favorite characters from my favorite media. And writing stories there gave me the idea for the story I'm writing now. Thank you, tumblr community, for shaping a young mind and inspiring me to continue a passion for creation.

And so the story continues

I have started making some reference drawings of the characters for myself, mostly focusing on the creation at the moment.

So here is a very, very basic idea (very first drawing type basic) of what she will look like while she's in the lab. And yes, the left arm is supposed to be missing, I promise. I haven't started on any facial features yet as I haven't decided what ethnicity she is.

I also don't have any idea if this is what her look is going to be going forward. As I keep plotting out the chapters and making my outline, I'm sure that I'll take away and add but that is yet to come.

Hello, people of Tumblr! My name is Sam, and I am a queer amateur writer!

It's hard to believe that I started this blog a decade ago, posting Flash fanfiction about a man easily 3 times my age. A weird time but a fun one while it lasted. I never really stopped writing fanfiction until around 2-3 years ago.

That being said, now being at a different time in my life, I'm interested in writing my first actual novel. I'd love to get some feedback from a different group of queer folks with different perspectives about this idea I've been thinking about for the past few months.

Without giving away too much, it would be a lesbian retelling of Frankenstein in a semi-dystopian future. The interactions between the scientist and the creation would be strained, making the story a slow burn as they learn to acknowledge each other's flaws and mistakes as the scientist tries to make up for her part in bringing someone back to life.

What are some other types of representation would you like to see in a novel like this? Are there any books in particular that could help me research and make this book as inclusive as I can while still giving a positive message? Is this even a good idea?

I'm already starting to lay out my plot line, looking into things as I go. I'll hopefully remember to post updates here, whether that's for anyone interested in following this or just for me to have a place to vent my ideas.

This thing has taken four hours of my life and I’m still NOT DONE! I’m determined to get every go towards the light endings, all true endings, all of it. ALL OF IT. And I’m mapping out every choice, like I do with all of his choose your own adventure things because I’m a mad man, and it’s STILL GOING. I’ve developed a system of bolds and italics and all manner of things to make sure I don’t lose my place. I still haven’t even taken the second option when given my first choice because I’m working through all the branches. I have gotten through the branches after going through the light, but that’s the tip of the iceberg.

I’m insane now. I’ve been driven insane by my need to KNOW
