As an American I am BAFFLED by the fact people are looking at the Far Right in their countries favorably after they've seen what's going on here. They will scream at us for being stupid with their full chest and then forget to learn from our mistakes simply because they genuinely believe they are too smart to fall for the same bullshit while actively falling for it just because it's covered in a different shade of paint.

The thing with Europeans being baffled by Trump is that the dude has 0 charisma or brain. He's a pathetic troubadour. Our bastards here have a minimal amount of decorum and charisma- and I say minimal. Trump is sooo far in the negative.
Racists here see Trump as a buffoon and fail to see that our fascists are buffoons too, because they sell it better.
Hitler had aura. Unfortunately. He was selling the serious military dude wanting to save his country well enough. Trump being an uneducated braindead idiot, and the americans voting for him regardless is ludicrous.
And we don't need to look at america for examples and mistakes, we have a vast history of those here. Vaaaaast. The neighbors did the gas chambers while my country was cut in two, half annexed and half resisting. So much wars before that. Colonies.
Did you know America wasn't decisive in ending WW2? They came in the end, they were 100% helpful, but most of the work was already done and the german were dying of starvation near the end. They were putting dudes in tanks who were not even qualified cause the soldiers were dead, with one ration cause they wouldn't need another anyway.
USA is in that funny position where they never had war on their land, they go out and dabble into everyone else's (which is why 9/11 had this impact, USA is used to deal damage not to receive it) or create them in other countries.
Think of a European fascist (yes it's a lot of countries but I generalize) as someone mocking Trump for being a geriatric monkey in a suit, not for his racist policies. The racist policies are A-OK 👌
USA is a grandiose spectacle, a parody of itself at this point.
It's terrible, because it gives ideas to other governments about what they could get away with, and also because Trump administration is so spectacularly and ridiculously catastrophic, people fail to see that our leaders are not that much better because they're not tweeting the Korean leaders and saying "I lov Tesler-" with an orange face.
SOME of USA's bullshit serves as warning tho, just after Roe vs WAde reversal, the french were in the streets, and abortion is now a constitutional right here. Can't touch it.
There's other examples, where yes the shitshow is a good warning and some things changed.
But racism isn't an american export, we have that well ingrained at home already.
AND YEAH I can't exactly take a knife and go slit some fascists throats, but yeah I'll distract myself. And I already drink water, because we have a heatwave that is killing people and our ecosystem because short term profit is more important than the planet.

I deadass think steve rogers ending was character assassination and conservative rhetoric (send the progressive man back to the decade epitomes with traditional values for a white picket fence life) but it was also just cruel to steve and bucky. “oh ur just mad ur ship didn’t go canon” no im mad the friendship that was the most important thing in both of their lives was tossed aside and the audience was gaslit into believing it didn’t matter despite three films proving otherwise. steve dropped the shield twice for bucky and would have died rather than live in a world where bucky didn’t remember him. bucky broke thru 70 years of brainwashing at the sound of steve’s voice. their catchphrase was essentially “til death do we part”. the fuck
This is literally what people are talking about when they say AI will be used to mainstream widely held bigotry. LLMs are trained on frequency and probability -> straight relationships are more well represented in the dataset -> straight pronouns and terms become the "correct" normal.
This is a form of backdoor bigotry from both normative facts (there are more straight than gay relationships) and well represented bigoted beliefs (men are superior to women).
Combine this with the mass of people inclined to believe (and being encouraged to believe) that if AI says and does something it must be correct
