Internet Recommendation: BuzzFeedYellow
So, I’m fully aware that BuzzFeed is not some in-the-dark and underrated phenomenon. The website and their quizzes certainly have taken most of the white college girl world by storm, and it’s truly hard for me to find a day where my news feed isn’t clamored with super irrelevant quiz results such as ‘Which hot dog topping are you?’ or ‘Who would be your celebrity spouse?’ But, with that being said, it is agreeable that BuzzFeed is sort of a guilty addiction for many. And, after scrolling through so many little quiz results on my Facebook, I decided to give it a go. However, I shied away from the meaningless quizzes and found some interesting videos, which linked me to BuzzFeed’s YouTube channel—BuzzFeed Yellow. Most of the videos were fairly interesting, ranging from hilarious almost ‘miniseries-quality’ film clips like ‘Signs Your Turning Into Your Mom,’ to funny little guides that are almost on the level of ‘Girl Code,’ providing sexual advice or tapping into romanticism, like ‘Why What You Wear Is All About Sex.’ And, it’s easy to see why videos such as ‘Thoughts You Have On A College Tour’ strike up some interest with our college-aged audience.
Ultimately relatable and quite funny, I might add.
Overall, BuzzFeed Yellow has surprised me—it still holds the spirit of BuzzFeed with their quirky quizzes and undoubtedly good college-aged marketing (90’s culture, anyone?), but blends it with a bit more class and makes me feel a lot less like I’m wasting my time finding out which species of potato I am and what that says about my personality. The videos are a bit more, I don’t know, mature (not really) and well-organized, in my opinion, so I highly recommend you go check it out (here)!
