Intro + Rules

Hello there and welcome!

My name is Qrow, and I'm the admin here! My pronouns are he/they and I am over the age of 18, and I'm in the EST timezone. Send in any asks that you would like, and I'll answer as our wonderful necromancer Occtis.

This is a portrayal that will build and grow as campaign 4 goes on and Occtis as a character is explored. This is my interpretation of how I see and present Occtis, it won't be 100% accurate and I have no affiliation with CR or Alex Ward.

For spoiler-based asks, the tags #critical role spoilers #cr c4 spoilers and #campaign 4 spoilers will be used. This account contains content around an undead character. Expect gore and body horror, though it will generally be tagged.

NSFW asks will be judged on a question to question basis, but keep them to a minimum.

Roleplay within asks will be open to everyone, whether rp accounts or not. However, I have the right to not answer any ask if I feel uncomfortable doing so.

For more literate-based roleplays, they will be held either within DMs or in posts, either here or on Discord if we talk in DMs prior. My preferences is that rp remains third person, past tense, and with a word count roughly between 200 and 1000 words long, but I am able to match length.

Smaller rps may be posted or sent in via mentions or asks, though I am generally less confident with these, and I still retain the ability to not answer if I don’t feel comfortable doing so (in which case, I will message or submit an ooc note so you are aware).

I ask that if we do include NSFW in rp, it does not take over our plot and that we discuss it first out of character.

Generally, I prefer talking out of character about plotting, direction, and for general conversation.

This is a multi-ship account, though only with developpement in rp beforehand and with discussion ooc. Likewise, “mains” aren’t a thing I take into consideration, everyone is welcome (and I love supporting yall).

If there was less of an idea in his mind that people were trying to save him, Nikola would be attempting to jump off the balcony at this point. Marrying Ethrand Tachonis was such an odious idea in his mind, not to mention the implications of being under Tachonis control, the lies he'd be forced to spread as truth, all while knowing that being taken away was meant to be a trap for Julien and Occtis. He was meant to be their downfall, while becoming a perfect spouse for a different Tachonis, a public speaker, a husband, a father by his own body. He had half a mind to tell them that Occtis had already sown that field to fruition, just to buy himself another week as they waiting for symptoms to show.

Pacing around the room that had become his cage, the bard found himself jumping at the sound of the door opening. He expected Ethrand or Primus with more threats, or servants with more questions, measurements for his wedding garments. Upon seeing a rather unfamiliar face in a Tachonis uniform, he froze, unsure how safe he was with this stranger. “…what’s brought you to my room? What are your orders from your Lord, sirrah?”

This was dangerous.

Occtis knew it was. Of course he knew. It was his family who had killed him. And afterwards, he thought he would never willingly choose to walk back into the building he had once, so very long ago, called his home, but that changed the second he got the news that Nikola had been taken by the Tachonis.

Anger was never supposed to be a thing that the dead could feel, but Occtis felt it bubbling inside of him. There was this protective force that wanted to march right in there and pull Nikola back to safety. That same force wanted to snap at his father– his brother– for even daring to take Nikola. Hearing the news that Ethrand would be marrying Nikola reminded Occtis of the sensation of his heart being ripped from his own chest. How cruel could they be? 

None of the warnings against pulling any stupid moves ever stuck with Occtis. Not when Nikola was on the line. They were doing their best to come up with a plan to get him back, but Occtis needed— needed— to let him know that they were trying. He needed to check that he was okay.

Even with the risks, Occtis made the choice to gather as many resources as he could and return to Obrimus Manor. He readied some kind of speech or excuse with a somewhat reasonable backstory that he hoped would work in the case that his presence as a Tachonis servant would be questioned. What Occtis would do if he ran into his father, Occtis didn’t know.

Thankfully, though, he didn’t run into many issues trying to get into the manor. He knew the halls still, after all this time. He did his best to avoid his old room and the few handful of places he kept to by himself when he was young. There were a few places Nikola could be kept, if he was around in the manor at all.

Occtis checked two different rooms, both empty to his relief and small frustration. If he had been caught snooping around the manor, even as a disguised servant, Occtis knew the consequences would be drastic. The third room he pushed open, Occtis stopped in his spot when he saw who was inside.

Any effort to keep up his facade of a Tachonis servant failed the second Occtis realized it was only Nikola in the room. Without a word, Occtis pushed the door closed behind him, his eyes never leaving Nikola’s face.

“Nikola…” Occtis murmured, his own voice coming from the illusion of a servant. “I’m so sorry.” 

“Are you okay?”

I know there’s some places that make armour for familiars, maybe you could get that for Pin. Honestly I would pay to see the little creature bite someone’s ankles in or out of a fight.

Oh actually, that would be great!! At least, to try. I don't really know how he'd do with armor on, but he likes his scarf, so maybe there's a chance? His bones are also on the.. uh, frailer side, so maybe not metal armor, but. Yeah, I think that could be a good thing to try out.

Occits hesitates at Bolaire's words, processing them. Was it better to be a story? He missed being alive, being human. It was strange how you don't realize how much you might miss something until it's gone.

"..Maybe. But what makes a story worth telling?"

“Human? Of course,” He gaze fell to the floor as he realized his automatic response may not be true. “I mean, I think so. I’ve never had a reason to doubt that but, there’s so much I’ve never doubted that- Yes. I don’t know. I think so.”

At the offer his eyes light up with hope, washing away the doubt coloring his thoughts. “Please.” It’s a simple answer, earnest trust shining through his voice.

Raising his eyebrow, Occtis watched as Wicander fumbled with his response. He understood, to some extent, that uncertainty and doubt. The questioning and worries. A bit more than slightly frustrated, Occtis huffed a sigh, the sound coming out almost like a wheeze that Occtis very acutely ignored. Damn force of habit. “That’s fine,” he said, his voice tight and not necessarily kind. “We’ll just say yes.” It was a simple answer to go with, but it was also more likely than not that Halovar’s mother was human. Occtis didn’t know much about her himself, but he knew the culture of the Sundered Houses well enough to assume.

Occtis stared back at Wick, eyes unblinking and a sickly shade of green. He had a mixture of feelings at seeing this. Halovar was so… willing. So eager. At the same time, Occtis understood just why the Candescent Creed’s facade worked so easily with this guy, and he felt bad. He felt bad that his life had been so affected by his willingness to trust in people. That had to… be challenging. Still. Occtis pushed that line of thought away.

He was a scholar, a wizard, and he knew how best to approach something unknown like this. “Alright. Yeah. Uh.” He considered a few things for a second. Already, his mind was going over the different ways to approach this. Reactivity was quite the fun thing to test, after all. Occtis rolled up his sleeves. “Could you– could you tell me about the times when your wings.. Appear? Materialize?”

A single nod as Wicander agreed to the Command spell. Occtis had no idea if it was going to work with how tricky the spell could be, and he did not know if Wic would have a similar reaction as he did with Calm Emotions. It was in no way that Occtis blamed Wicander for the reaction. It was clear something triggered it, something neither of them had expected or even thought could happen. He had been able to feel Pin, just faintly, while he had remained outside the door. Beyond the drive for attention, the fox had wanted to provide a distraction, a move Occtis himself was familiar with. And apart from his cuteness, as well as his stupidity, even with his slightly affected senses from his short period of death, Pincushion had a way to detect when a distraction was needed. The fox could smell that fear, that emotion and seemed to respond in the best way he could.

“I have enough energy for another spell or two, maybe more, depending. I’m fine to continue as long as you are,” Occtis responded. A crash after such heavy emotions wasn’t surprising, though Occtis still needed to remind himself that people needed rest and needed it at regular hours of the night. “We can reconvene after the, uh, the next spell, if you want? See how you are feeling then.”

“Um. Let me know if you want the spell stopped. If something goes wrong, it may not be as easy to communicate, but a wave or a ‘stop’ should be enough.” He had options for which command to give. None of them seemed to provide a guaranteed result, so he would have to consider and choose wisely.

“That sounds like an excellent plan.”With no experience with this type of magic, Wic had very little idea how reliably this might work for him. Every new spell could be the spell that let him understand himself, that revealed his wings in a burst of holy light in front of someone who could actually examine them and tell him what in the world was going on with his magic.

Wicander Halovar was by no means a learned man, but he was studious. He knew the best way to learn was to trust the expert at hand. “Of course. Anything odd, and I’ll let you know immediately.”

“I should also tell you, my wings—they just sort of go away on their own after a while. So, you needn’t worry about finding a way to dismiss them once they appear,” He cut off another yawn with the shake of his head. “Ah, unless that’s something you’d like to study. I know you wizard types are curious folk.” He added that last part with a bit of a lilting tone. It was a gentle prodding. Did Occtis enjoy a bit of teasing?

An excellent plan, Wicander called it. Maybe. But Occtis knew it was one with many faults. Command had many, many ways that it could go wrong. The singular word element of the spell made it very challenging to properly convey the intent behind the magic, so Occtis would need to be very careful with what he chose.

“Good,” Occtis agreed. “Another reaction would not be, uh, much of an issue if it did come to be, but we’ll…. do what we can to avoid that.” For both our sakes went unsaid afterwards. Occtis had little idea how to comfort people, let alone another Sundered House member like Wicander.

That would make sense. He didn’t know much about humans with wings, but considering the fact that Wic did not know how to bring his wings out, and the fact that they weren’t currently, obviously on his back, meant they likely disappeared on his own. Or, at least, Occtis would’ve hoped that Wicander would mention being able to make his wings go away but having trouble bringing them out. “Ah, that’s- that’s okay. A few moments should be enough for me to get some kind of understanding for what they are. But, uh, if you want them to be out more, we could explore that later?”

"It's a sweet wish, darling, and one easily fulfilled," Nikola replied softly, leaning closer to his lover, pressing a teasingly soft kiss to his lips. Perhaps there were some logistics that needed to be worked out, what Occtis' body was still capable of doing, but he figured that the necromancer would see this as an experiment; he himself was more than happy to figure it out as they went. His hand, settled at Occtis' waist, trailed upward slowly until it was buried in his cravat. Diligently yet haphazardly, Nikola began to undo the knot in the fabric. "Let's figure out how to make you sing."

Nikola could see the gears turning in his head, his lover's beautiful mind struck with images of them in amorous embrace. Of course, he too had thought of that, had those scenarios flitting in his mind long before they ended up in this position. For some time, he'd thought it just a fantasy to get him through the lonely nights of travel, something to imagine when he had his fingers on his clit while washing up. ...yet here he was. Here they were, and everything was amazingly real. The bard couldn't help how his body shivered as that dawned on him, leaning forward to press a quick kiss to Occtis' lips. The face he made while he thought was quite cute, and he couldn't Nikola couldn't help but kiss it. As the wizard decided how to start this... experiment... of theirs, a smirk came across Nikola's face, and he nodded. He wondered to himself what it would feel like to sink onto him and feel something cool and hard within the concentrated heat of his body. Any toys he'd used in the past, he warmed up in his hands as not to shock his system. Perhaps, though, the shock to his system would feel good. "Perfect. Get comfortable, love, on your back or sitting up, either works; then, I'll get in your lap and I can take care of the rest."

Pulled only briefly from his thoughts, Occtis returned the kiss. Even with his mind and, to a surprisingly better than expected extent, his body wanting more and more and more, Occtis found it did not make the sensation of kissing Nikola any less powerful and wonderful of a feeling. Occtis gave a nod, a shy though anticipatory smile on his face. There were a good number of years where Occtis didn’t know how he would lose his virginity. He left for school and was met with so many looks and turned shoulders that even with the occasional crush he developed, he never knew for certain that anything was going to happen. Even when he was eighteen, there was that bit of shame that grew on top of the doubt and uncertainty. For a bit, before, he thought for sure that this night would involve Nikola, the circumstances feeling much differently than they did in reality. And then, after he lost that confidence. But here and now, as complicated as things were in the world, it felt right. Carefully, Occtis rolled from on top of Nikola to beside him. For a second, he hesitated, not sure whether to sit or to lay. He didn’t imagine there would be too much of a difference, but he made the decision to sit up. Occtis was ready to speak, perhaps to say he was glad Nikola would be his first, or maybe to ask him to make Occtis completely unravel under his touch, or maybe just an exhale of his name, but no words came. Instead, bright green eyes watched each of Nikola’s movements as Occtis realized this was actually happening.

Nikola remembered his first time well enough: a young man of one of the noble houses below those Sundered Houses, some heir apparent whose name slipped him. Some young people had been unsure how to approach the bard, but this young man had made that leap; he was eager and awkward, and as much as there was care and intimacy in them choosing to be one another’s first times, Nikola couldn’t say he loved that boy. The lovers that came in between… perhaps one had been near that sensation, someone he wanted to love, but the sort of love that he felt for Occtis was entirely new. He was unsure how to express that, unsure how to even comprehend it. It wasn’t as if he was a prolific rake; many other vices preceded that one… but no one had ever been quite so understanding and loving as Occtis. He watched as the wizard rolled off of him, lying there beside him a moment before sitting up. He found himself doing the same, then shifting his weight to tuck his knees under him, getting into a kneeling position. Carefully, he swung one leg over Occtis’ lap and readjusted himself to be straddling his legs— reaching a hand between his own legs as he did, he collected some of the slick from his cunt. His eyes fluttered closed a moment, even at his own touch. With that same hand, Nikola once again began to stroke Occtis’ cock, spreading the wetness across it, smoothing the motion, preparing him. “Let me know when you’re ready,” he said, his deep brown eyes locking on his lover’s unnaturally green ones.

Occtis’s eyes followed each and every movement Nikola made. If there had been enough moving blood in his system, he knew he would have a pinkish tint to his pale face. That flush never appeared, and Occtis knew it might never again, but the feeling was still the same. The overwhelming feeling of emotion– so many emotions– as he took in the sight of Nikola moving to be above him. He never thought this would happen, that this would come to be, especially not after their engagement was put off years ago. He never thought they’d be in this kind of situation at all, but the simple fact that he got to have Nikola here meant so much to Occtis that it felt hard to even put into words. Occtis watched his lover’s hands drift downwards, the trailing touch that collected slick, before glancing up at Nikola’s face. His expression was beautiful. He was beautiful. And then Nikola’s hand was on him, and it was another reminder that this wasn’t some dream, some fantasy. This was real. The warm slick belonged to Nikola. The hand wrapped around him held the bard’s fingerprints, practiced and real. Occtis tilted his head back just slightly, every part of his brain focusing on the sensations he was feeling. Some part of him was worried, not knowing what this would feel like, not knowing if Nikola would actually enjoy this or not. But he tried to force himself to calm. He wanted this, he wanted it so badly, and he knew that Nikola wouldn’t be here if he didn’t want it either. Occtis sucked in a breath his body didn’t need, before slowly nodding. “I’m ready.”

// Hello hello!! A small ooc update! The insomnia that's been going for months on end is being dealt with!! Following that good news, I'm going to be slowly getting back into things as I make up the sleep I've lost. Asks of all kinds are welcome and open, and I'm hoping to get to writing and replying to the multitude of replies I owe over the next few weeks. I'll have summer break, as well, which will help quite a lot.

How do you feel about people comparing Julien to a dog?

I mean, he's loyal, stubborn, puts his friends first, a bit overprotective at times, bares his teeth a lot, follows orders, eager to please, he'd kill for praise.

The similarities are there, so...

Oh! I don't think I've seen that before! It's, uh, interesting, I guess, that people see such a strong connection. He does bare his teeth a lot... Weird. I don't think he'd like being called a dog, though. Definitely not from me.

Happy april fools day! What’s your favorite joke?

My favorite joke? Uhm..... hm, let's see? I guess I don't really know many. Uh, one of the servants who helped tend to food when I was young used to say "bone appetite" and I enjoyed that. Until my father overheard him one night and.... yeah.

Thimble shared some jokes with me, I'm trying to remember them. Oh! "The fae have only two rules. Firstly, that there are no rules. And secondly, chocolate makes everything better. Everything except bug bites."

There’s soooo many ways this could’ve gone. Of course there’s the “comes back wrong” with so many levels, including the most obvious of immediate celestial at the command of Tansul and the Tachonis.

Then there’s the one where Occtis comes back and it worked but he’s still himself but maybe not forever, and it’s a question of control because that part didn’t work (hey, the god set to command the celestial is dead, there’s no command to be given). And that within itself is like— does he know immediately? Does he feel that somethings wrong or off? Or is it when they walk down into that room that it triggers like Aabria mentioned fearing in the cooldown (and where I also went).

AND THEN there’s the “well actually he is under the control of the Tachonis it’s just subtle and he’s pretending”.

AND THEN AND THEN there’s the smash cut to Occtis, celestial and twisted, fighting the party, or destroying the Davinos and Royce, or one day just flipping because something or another triggered it—

There’s such a spectrum from completely evil an horrid to more nuanced with some of these too and ughhhhhhh.

I… have many thoughts. I need to sleep. Will I? No. Do I wish I could? Deeply.
