Ok all dumb jokes aside let me rant here for a moment…
I LIVE FOR SCALED UP ITEMS FOR GIANTS!!!
I think it’s mainly because it solidifies the notion that, yes, this is still just a person, a very large one, but one that is like you and me, someone who lives their own everyday life and isn’t just a mindless monster. It also reflects the idea of a society willing to cater to this person’s needs and that perhaps giant individuals are common place and widely accepted. The idea of a giant just casually strolling down a main thoroughfare and people scrambling a little to get out of the way as they focus on texting with their car sized phone is such a solid concept for me. It’s what all of us do but the consequences of these normal mundane actions are exponentially multiplied due to their size.
Maybe they’re walking to the park where they set down their two story backpack and pull out a pen and paper to sketch the skyline sprawled out before them. Headphones in, the wires thicker than climbing ropes to normal sized people, they take a sip of water from a reusable bottle with enough water inside to fill a lake.
For me personally this notion of being dwarfed by an enormous human being is a wonderful concept but there are so many added emotions to being tiny even in the presence of their everyday items. Walking across the park to say hello would be intimidating already but even more so when they accidentally drop their pen and it crashed down in front of you like a felled plastic tree. It would take one hundred of you to lift this item but they simply pinch it between thumb and forefinger and lift the monolithic writing utensil like it was nothing.
I understand this is just the basic idea of being tiny but to a borrower everything is huge. The concept gains so much more interest for me when it’s an outlier, everyone in the world owns a shirt but the Giant’s is the biggest by far and could cover a house. As opposed to, all the shirts in the world are huge compared to me except for mine.
Anyway that’s my brain-dump. Does anyone else feel the same, or differently? Please feel free to add, I’d love to hear how others feel about this and I’m sure some of you are more eloquent than I.
