Hi everyone! Thanks for stumbling upon my little corner of Tumblr :) Please call me J (she/her) and I’m just using this space to post about my projects and shamelessly throw out random info about my ocs.
I have a sideblog where I hoard writing prompts like a feral gremlin if you're interested in that over at @unboundprompts
Thank you for being here and I hope you have a great rest of your day :)

⋆ Kendyleigh's world was ripped apart in a single night.
After being betrayed in the ugliest way possible, leaving her bloodied, frightened, and broken from grief, Kendyleigh fled into the night to get away from the people that wanted her nothing less than dead.
She had sworn to herself that she would never make the same mistake again— a mistake that exposed her most dangerous secret— but as she was hunted down by some of the most powerful people in the nation, she began to grow desperate. Fate placed her in the home of a witch, and for the first time in her life, she was offered a chance to exact her revenge on those who wronged her. Torn between the path of good and evil, Kendyleigh's decision was cemented when she was told there was a way to remove the curse that had plagued her life for centuries.
Now in over her head and blinded by rage, Kendyleigh has to figure out what kind of person she has become and what it means to trust people again.

⋆ June ‘Cutthroat’ Marlowe had built up quite a reputation for herself. Not only was she the daughter of legendary Captain Damon ‘The Marked,’ but she was the only one brave enough to wrong him and get away with it. Now fleeing for her life, June has to find a ship and a crew, and sail to wherever the map she stole from her father takes her, before he can get his hands on the treasure she’s after.
Word travels fast, and it seems as if the seven seas were against her, as she’s being hunted down by more than just her bloodthirsty father:
Captain Bates Anderson— The British Navy Officer— who she’d outsmarted time and time again, and wants nothing more than to see her pay for the crimes she’s committed.
The love of her life, who she had left for dead.
This pesky pirate who just so happens to have exactly what she’s looking for.
And an ancient curse that had been following her family for years.

⋆ Jacques and Louis Monet weren't surprised when they were approached by a stranger, saying he was investigating some of the most prominent criminal masterminds in the world. They were surprised, however, to learn that he wasn't a detective.
The man went by a code name, Chaos, to conceal his identity from not only the rest of the world, but also from the group of people he had gathered to assist him in robbing the Natural History Museum in London, England.
The ragtag group of criminals banded together,-knowing nothing about each other or what their life was like before the heist- and invaded the museum of London.
The goal?
Return the items that were stolen by the British to their rightful countries (at a high price, of course), and don't get caught.
Both objectives were difficult, but as each hour passes they only get harder, especially when dealing with a building of unruly hostages, and having to undermine UK law enforcement.
The worst part, though?
Hostages keep turning up dead, and no one has the slightest clue why. They do know, that with each body they find, the deeper and deeper they're digging a hole that they aren't sure they can climb out of.

I am in a weird grey space where I want to write SO BAD but I have such intense writer's block that I cannot think of anything. This might be a lame idea, but if you see this, could you comment some random words, or a random vibe, or a random song, or a random scene (basically comment whatever) that could spark something in my empty brain for a story idea? I'll take anything at this point. Whatever comes to mind, no matter how weird and out there. No matter how niche or cliche. Your words are a blessing.
AHH!! I'm so excited to share with you that I've published a short story collection called The Lament of the Haunted and the Divine!
In The Lament of the Haunted and the Divine, Merle Summers weaves a collection of short fiction that drifts between the spectral and the sacred. From restless spirits yearning for closure to forsaken deities weighed down by sorrow, each tale explores the fragile line between the mortal and the otherworldly. Through whispered regrets, unfulfilled desires, and eerie encounters, these stories unravel the quiet tragedies of those caught between worlds: beings who haunt and are haunted, who seek and are sought, who long for something just beyond their grasp.
It is available to read on Amazon (paperback and hardcover) and it is also available as an ebook on Kindle or Kindle Unlimited!!
truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if she’s perhaps worried she’s a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and that’s enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said she’s here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then she’ll make another one. I said “isn’t it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?” and she just looked at me funny and said “what do you mean? The whole world was here, waiting”. Some people, I tell you.
AITA for realizing that my best friend is actually a ghost and not telling him because i'm worried that if he realizes he's dead he'll finally be able to accept it and fully pass on and i won't be able to hang out with him anymore?
AITA if i've been dead for a while but haven't told my best friend yet because he doesn't seem to have realized i'm a ghost and if he does i'm worried that he'll finally be able to accept it and let me go and i can't bear the thought of losing him?
Ok so this is cool but I always wondered how they knew the shadows were different at the same instant. I mean it is not like they had phones. How did they sync up that instant. I feel like that would be interesting to know but no one ever says.
^^^Does anybody know this one? How, that far apart, the time at which the shadows were observed was synced up? I am genuinely curious, not a goddamn moron asking a gotcha question. High/Low tide? (I live in the middle of the country I do not know for the precise habits of tidal activity.) The appearance of a star (or planet) in the sky? Something as utterly mundane as sunrise?
Well, first of all, it wasn’t actually pillars! Eratosthenes was told about a well in Syene that, in the summer solstice every year (June 21st) would be illuminated at the bottom entirely and without any cast shadows. This indicated that the sun was directly overhead. Going off that well known curiosity and an intelligent hunch, our dude Eratosthenes waited until high noon of the summer solstice to measure the angle of a shadow cast by a stick in Alexandria. (Sidenote: Eratosthenes was a librarian of the infamous Library of Alexandria.)
His next course of action was to hire bematists, surveyors of the time whose professional specialty was to measure distance by walking with equal length steps. They measured a distance between Alexandria and Syene of about 5000 stadia. (Guess where the word stadium comes from.) Once he had that measurement, Eratosthenes did his math-y thing, and there you have it.
Eratosthenes’ work was thorough enough that by the time he finished revising his calculations, he ended up only 66 km off of the actual polar circumference of the Earth, or an error margin of 0.16%. [wiki]
hi friends! I'm currently making a website just for fun, where I was planning to share personal stories and whatnot, nothing crazy. But I started thinking, and got the half-formed idea where I open it for you guys to submit short stories (fiction or non-fiction) and poetry that I would share to the site (maybe even include an author interview if you'd like?). Is this something you would be interested in?
Website with Story Submission Option
yes! sounds like fun and I would love to participate!
I would want to read this but I would not submit any writing
