— about me
Hello! My name is Zoë and I’ve been around writeblr for a while. I’m 28 years old and live in Manitoba, Canada. I have an adult job, but try to write as much as I can between everything else. When I’m not writing, I love ghost stories, collecting books (and telling myself I’m going to read them eventually), and watching mediocre tv.
— about the blog
I reblog a lot of memes, prompts, and writing advice. I have a navigation page that I’m very proud of. I also love tag games, even if it takes me a while to fill them, and make the occasional edit for my projects.
I welcome follows & interaction from minors, however I expect you to curate your own experience. All adult content will be labelled/tagged to the best of my ability but it’s your responsibility to avoid things you don’t want to see. If you need something specific tagged, please ask!!
— about the wips
I write primarily fantasy, with hints of romance, adventure, and mystery often found mixed in. I also dabble in science fiction.
This section will be updated as I (inevitably) add more WIPs to my pile.
For all of my taglists, please don’t hesitate to ask to be added or removed!!

— Indigo Wars
The Frontier War has ravaged the border between Edristan and Draiobia for thirteen years. Any victory is matched by a defeat somewhere else along the front. There is little movement yet massive losses, and both countries are dealing with roiling tensions bubbling to the surface and causing pockets of civil unrest.
In Edristan, five young Vario move to Aysel Keep to help the king with the war effort. Their second, unspoken goal is to prove that intrinsic magic users like themselves aren’t to be feared. But trouble strikes before their first day is through, when a violent murder is committed in front of a crowd. Something about the vacant-eyed killer calls to Violet Colby’s magic in a dark and dangerous way, and as the bodies pile up she begins to wonder if the crimes aren’t as straightforward as they seem. With a voice in her dreams and her magic becoming harder to control, Violet finds herself caught in the middle of a game she never asked to be part of.
Across the war-ravaged border in Draiobia, a succession crisis that started twenty-five years prior is coming to a head. Maisy Winthrope’s father died before she was born but she has been training her entire life to take up his crown. In order to do so, she will need to spark a rebellion against her usurping, autocratic uncle; a feat she has no interest in attempting. Content to live her life at Whitland Chateau, Maisy has no reason to suspect her first true glimpse at the rotting heart of her country will draw her into a political struggle with more than her throne on the line.
Though on opposite sides of the war, both young women must rise to the occasion or risk losing everything—including their lives.

What happens when the promised saviour never arrives? What happens when the chosen one runs away?
1674. The monarchy in Kethyia is over. The former royals are scattered to surrounding countries or dead. Anyone known to have sided with them during the brutal three-year civil war has been branded with the royal crest and pushed to the fringes of society, left to fend for themselves as the country struggles to recover under the harsh regime that rose out of the ashes.
Most cities cleaned house, purging their streets of Royalists and forcing them to leave the country or hide in ragged cities like Brenik. Located on the western border, it’s a place for people who would rather be forgotten, for people pushed to the periphery. Among the addicts and gamblers is Radka, a seamstress-turned-healer who deals baccarat and patches up cage fighters to get by. Her high collars hide the brand on her neck, and her smile hides the rest of her secrets.
But then the newest cage fighter, Damir Svoboda, is jumped and left for dead in the alley. Radka knows he’s a Royalist but agrees to help him anyways, and by the time she finds out that he’s a member of the Red Order—the elite special forces that had served the king directly—it’s too late for her to back out. She’s labelled as his accomplice and forced to go on the run with the injured man.
Together, Radka and Damir must travel to the capital while avoiding capture, locate the missing Prince Ilias Bukharin, and convince him to leave the country and join his parents in the relative safety of exile. But Ilias is a believer in the Tempestborn, the prophesied saviour who was supposed to stop the Liberty Conclave from taking power in the first place, and he’s not willing to abandon the country he was raised to serve.
Radka has spent two years putting the war behind her, but the war might not be done with her.

Micah Lauzier doesn't really need a new roommate. His finances are stretched a bit thinner than he would like without one, but it's not like he has the time to do much outside of his job as a CIA analyst anyways. When his twin sister (who stole his last roommate) asks if he would be willing to live with a friend of a friend for two years, he thinks it'll just be an easy way to reduce the amount of time he spends on chores each month.
Enter Hayes Wexler.
At twenty three, she's a law school drop-out finally pursuing what she wants instead of what her parents want for her. Getting a masters degree in museum studies while living ten minutes away from the famed Smithsonian Institute should be a breeze for this academic overachiever, however she soon realizes that it's the things outside of books that are going to give her trouble.
Micah is quiet and grounded. Hayes is loud and dreamy. But they might just be exactly what the other needs.
Two academic years. Twenty one months. Adventure, aggravation, and uncertainty abound.

— Pine Hollow
Pine Hollow is mostly grey skies, imposing mountains, and evergreen trees that reach for the heavens. It’s also a haven for Darkworlders, a blanket term encompassing every creature that goes bump in the night.
The Krauss witches have maintained peace in the town for over a century, but now the final member of the bloodline is nearing death. Various Darkworlder factions are beginning to push against the rules as they vie for status in preparation for the impending power vacuum. Their battles are fought quietly and under the cover of night, yet everyone is aware of the turf war brewing on the horizon.
Virginia “Gin” Crane is the only law enforcement officer in the town aware that the Darkworld exists. Raised as a witch until she was expelled from her coven by her own mother and stripped of her magic at eighteen, she’s the only one impartial enough to help the elderly Ms. Krauss keep the peace. She investigates, follows leads, and occasionally digs up a body or two. There’s no written reports, no paperwork, no records that anything happened.
She likes working alone, so when a blond smartass with a strange accent shows up and insists on helping with the investigation into the disappearance of his friend, she’s less than thrilled. Frey Keswick is cocky, irreverent, and vain—the opposite of partner material. He quickly shows himself to be meddlesome and a magnet for trouble, which in Gin’s line of work usually means bullets.
Soon, though, they find themselves uncovering a threat to the Darkworlders of Pine Hollow that no one had ever considered before: humans. A small group of them have decided to eradicate Darkworlders and have begun hunting them down one by one. With tensions already running high between factions, Gin fears this new threat may break whatever tenuous control Ms. Krauss still holds over the town.
Aided by her cousin Mila and her boyfriend Ari—and hindered by her new not-partner Frey—Gin must assess the threat and find a way to eliminate it without upsetting the precarious peace in Pine Hollow, or risk having open war between factions.
