“I wish ancient people preserved their writing and artifacts better” I write in electronic signals on a piece of hardware that can’t retain its efficacy for more than a few decades.
Time to laser-print my entire blog on titanium plates and bury them underground.
brb etching my one-star yelp review of the sheet metal supplier that sold us shitty copper on a granite slab

But more importantly, WE know what he did. Because it got written down in some rocks.
The US Trans Survey is in February 2022 & it helps determine government funding
Pledge to take the U.S. Trans Survey
from the asks:
Would it be helpful for non-trans people to take the survey, or should we just stay out of it?
TLDR: if you are cis, signal boost the hell out of this survey instead. signal boost it to various communities, especially ones reaching out to marginalized communities. if you are trans, then please also signal boost the hell out of this survey too.
We need to signal boost this to rural & non-urban-areas so the trans people there get counted, we need API (Asian, Pacific Islander) trans people to get counted. We need bi/pan trans people, we need military veterans, we need other demographics too so please contact the people who are conducting this survey. Here are their information.
You can be in a different country, and still fill out the non-US-citizen survey, as long as you're trans.
Do Not Hesistate With Any Question or Accessibility Problem, Please Contact & Ask These People:
General USTS team - Equipo general de la USTS [email protected]
Josie Caballero – USTS Project Manager -- Dirección de Gestión de la USTS [email protected]; 202-804-6057
Sybastian Smith – NCTE National Organizer -- Organizador Nacional NCTE [email protected]; 202-804-6042
Alex del Rosario – USTS Outreach Manager -- Gestión de Difusión de la USTS [email protected]; 202-804-6052
Other Q&A's that came up during a 2021 November 16th presentation:
firstly, NCTE USTS did not get authority (IRB approval) to go into the protected class of incarcerated trans people
secondly, you don't have to be a US-citizen to contribute data, but you will be given a non-us-citizen survey.
If you reside in the US but are just temporarily abroad, then you would be able to respond to the US-resident survey. If you are permamently living abroad, you would take the survey for non-US residents.
if you have any other questions about these categories then please contact the USTS team for help.
The rough timeline for the USTS:
Pledge Period is until the end of January
Fielding Period starts around the beginning of February with a 6 week survey window
Report writing with start shortly thereafter and go until end of 2022
You need to be trans to take the survey, but anyone can know a trans person.

I will not elaborate.

Should’ve checked whether anyone in my house likes eggs before we got chickens. I have 67 eggs that need eating.
go out and throw them at cop cars
How many cop cars do you think are within walking distance of my house
Once you egg the first, there’s a delivery service for more.

GIRLS!!!!!! gather roung. we are looking at this pillbug
Giant green pill millipede, Zoosphaerium neptunus, Sphaerotheriida
Found only in Madagascar, this species is the largest pill millipede in the world, sometimes reaching almost 4 inches in length.

Oh boy, lots of confusion in the notes!
These friends are millipedes. They just happen to be the kind that can roll into a nice lil ball.
They are NOT roly polies. Roly polies are terrestrial isopods, usually called pill bugs or woodlice, and they’re a kind of crustacean. There are also freshwater and marine isopods, including the giant isopods of the deep ocean that can reach 30″ in length or more.
Here’s a typical millipede most people are more familiar with:
They roll into spirals for protection instead of orbs:

Here’s a roly poly, or common pill woodlouse:

Pill millipedes and roly polies are not closely related. Turns out rolling into a ball is a fairly common defense mechanism adapted by a lot of species! Including a few mammals :)
I would like to follow up this post with:
Do not ever buy Madagascar Pill Millipedes.
yes people sell them online. yes i want one too.
they should not be removed from their island and absolutely will not survive more than a month or two.
we do not know why, but something in their island diet or environment is *so incredibly specific* that we cannot replicate it. and it’s not just this species – all Madagascar pill millipedes die in capitivity. they live nowhere else on earth and we cannot breed them – every Madagascar pill millipede for sale is wild caught, and taking these rare and beautiful critters from their home on Madagascar is extremely dubious at best. do not buy them. do not do it. find a european Glommeris species or an interesting isopod.
Yeah invertebrate hobbyists have tried to crack the secret of pill millipedes for decades to no avail. Every so often someone claims to have kept them alive over a year or had babies, but can never prove it, or they all still drop dead shortly afterwards.
Mutuals have permission to join me in the friendship ball
