Of course, she could see that the father wasn’t in the picture. That was obvious. When she asked about where she was going, she shook her head. “I don’t know. I came looking for my brother but I don’t know where to find him“

Of course she’s looking for her brother. It made Lys think uncomfortably of her own estranged sibling. She nodded, thoughtful, and spoke again. ”Your brother-what’s his name? I’ve been traveling this way and that since this bloody war started, maybe I’ve heard of him.”

She didn’t judge. If she didn’t have the father with her, she probably had a damn good reason.

Lilliyan watched him as he frowned and clearly he didn’t believe what she had said about the wound. She nodded. “You can probably do a better job than I could.” She said. She moved a bit and winced in pain. She tried to hide it though. Lilliyan sighed. “How bad does it look?” She asked him, trying not to move too much.

“Like its bark is worse then its bite,” Bael offered her a gentle smile as he reached for his satchel, digging through it to find what he needed. “I have a skin of wine. It will hurt like the devil, but it should clean it well enough. Then I can examine it closer, but I’d guess you’re going to live.”

Lys glanced at the other woman thoughtfully. She was alone-she’d caught onto that much. For one reason or other, the father wasn’t in the picture. She decided not to ask about that.

“Know where you’re going?” She inquired, “Need any help getting there?”

Bael frowned as he noticed the injury, but he pushed the expression away as he knelt before the woman. “I may be able to help. I don’t claim to be a maester, but I believe I can clean it, slow the bleeding, and either bandage or stitch it, depending on how deep it is.”

Growing up in the wilds, you either learned how to treat wounds on your own, or you died. Life had been a trial by fire. Admittedly, at the beginning, his mother had guided him.
