What the HELL did they do to the White House website?

Okay we’re going through this bit by bit.

First of all, this is the first thing that pops up when you visit the website:

But wait, it gets worse.

Once you get in, you see that Trump’s inauguration takes up the entire main page. You know what? I’m fine with that. I mean it makes sense.

What I’m not fine with is this:

As of yesterday (I’m on the Wayback Machine), these are the issues that the Obama Administration listed, leading to pages which went into detail about these issues and what the Administration was doing about them.

Again, that’s from the Obama Administration.

This is the current Issues Tab under the Trump Administration:

No, I haven’t cropped it. That’s it. That’s the entire list. All of those are the issues that Trump’s Administration cares about.

The civil rights page? Gone. Climate change page? Gone. Health care page? Gone. Disabilities page? Gone. It’s all gone. Everything is gone.

They also completely took away all of the pages on Obama’s initiatives, all of the pages on internships and involvement in the White house, all of the pages on different ways to protest (other than the We The People petitions), and for some reason, they even took out most of the pages in the history section. The famous virtual tour? Gone. A detailed history about the architecture, the decor, even theee customs and traditions? Gone.

 But here’s the best part.

Most of the ‘Briefing’ section has been cleaned out as well and the tab for weekly addresses has been completely removed.

Well isn’t that just…disturbing?

It’s worth noting that this happens every presidency, the Obama administration’s whitehouse.gov will be archived and none of this was taken down by Clownstick himself. Not that it makes me feel ANY better about the next four years, but for once it’s not on DOFUS

So just for you, I spent the past half hour tediously searching through the Wayback Machine.

This was the page Obama had right after he took office after Bush:

Notice how, even though the website changed overnight, he still put in a huge list of issues including virtually every one listed on the website yesterday?

But wait, there’s more.

I went back and looked at how Bush’s page looked before the Obama Administration changed it. And guess what? Bush had an entire list of issues that resembled the ones listed on the website yesterday.

But wait!

There’s more!

Back when the Internet was new and the webpage was just a bunch of text, Clinton had an entire list of issues like the ones listed on the website yesterday.

So, no, this isn’t something that always happens. The website changes but the issues have always stayed the same and they’ve always been prominently displayed.

Until now.

So I reblogged this before, but I actually wanted to stop and saying something, which is this:

Everyone who writes has felt that moment of “EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE I’M A FAKE I’M A FAILURE I’M WORTHLESS,” and it’s always been over a moment like this one.  That moment where you realize your idea has been done before.  But here’s the thing.  Ideas aren’t worthless, but they’re the pennies of your novel.  They’re the smallest component.

Execution, on the other hand…that’s what does everything.  That’s your dollar bills, stuffed into the jar until you have enough to go on the biggest adventure of your life.

So write your story where the mermaid falls in love with the boy who lives on land.  Write him becoming a merman for her, or write him as a her, or write your sea witch as the heroine, or write your mermaid as a villain.  Write a world.  The idea, that’s a penny you found in the street.  All the real value is going to come from you.

Trollhunters Fandom

Okay so this is the literal only fandom I will ever be able to say I was there from the beginning and I’m just like so honored to be a part of it and share the experience with all of you!

Okay, so I’m watching Trollhunters and I appreciate the darker and deeper themes/tones and the actual adult humor in it. Jim is also a really good protag. I like that the staff wasn’t too afraid to put the slightly more mature content, despite it being a kid’s show, while STILL being a show that kids can enjoy, because it’s not too extreme. I bring this up, because that’s something I definitely want to see more of in Voltron. I know they don’t have the same staff, but I hope it being DreamWorks animation sets up this kind of dynamic and flexibility.

The fact that Trollhunters is one of Anton Yelchin’s last roles makes me cry. He was SO GOOD and ya’ll need to watch it if you haven’t yet.

I am obsessed with Trollhunters...

It’s a fairly new fandom, so not even fanfiction.net has it listed and only 16 stories are written in Archive so I’m freaking out. 

I legit watched the entire first season and pulled an all nighter to complete it, and then watched it for the second time the next night up until 4 in the morning. I noticed how they seem to mention puberty a lot, maybe it’s something that’s always been in the lines since day one of production, but I think they did it because sooner or later Anton’s voice files will run out and they’ll need a new voice, which’ll be so tough for the previous crew and cast, and no doubt the new voice for Jim. 

Rest in Peace, Anton. :( I’d go back in time and use that 45-minute thing they used in one of the episodes to get the ring from Mr. Strickler to save him. Wrong place, wrong time.

For the doom of Gunmar, Eclipse is mine to command

% finished this series. I got the impression it gets better as it goes into the second half. Really, I wish it was 40 min long per episode, so it could have some ease-in and out moments to breathe. Other than that, it is really good. Designs on characters and world are just FUN itself. I bet it must be super fun for the designers to design stuff for this project.

 I hope they find someone else to replace Anton Yelchin for Jim’s voice for the second season. I would be really sad if the second season does not happen :(
