I have big brown eyes and no hope
once again in shambles emotionally bc of this fictional character (diluc genshin impact)
um.
never not over the inherent romance of the vampire bite. your blood is swimming through the veins of your undead lover. your life granting them the mimicry of life. your existence is an affront to the cycle of nature and I don't care. I want to keep you here, walking upon the earth. take some of me into you and bloom.
Yeah now we've entered the back pain stage
twenty years across the sea
24 year old izuku and his 40 year old coworker bestie aizawa is canon ykw that’s funny as fuck
I think people have talked at length about the fact that bnha ended up basically being super pro-cop and delivered nothing on its narrative critiquing hero society. but one thing I haven't seen commentary on yet is how bizarre the narrative on abuse is. bnha is a series where abusive father figures (e.g. endeavor, overhaul, shigaraki's father) and neglectful parents (e.g. toga's family) have been the origin for marginalization of children and, in the cases of the league, their eventual descent into actual crime and villainy. yet the single most prominent abusive father figure of the series (endeavor) got a redemption arc, while the second-most prominent abusive father (overhaul) got to survive. yet the children who suffered abuse (toga, shigaraki, touya) were not worthy of redemption nor even survival. it has very bleak implications on who gets a second chance in life and who doesn't. this is possibly the worst narrative on childhood abuse I have ever consumed btw lol
I'm going to cry! 😭
why is it always "I love you"
and never "My sweet villain, darling god, dearest punishment and sweet nemesis. By you I am forever undone"
Eric Andre is Jewish btw. I feel like a lot of people assume he isn't bc of racism or bc they assume every word out of his mouth is sarcastic but he is Jewish and has talked about it.
girls will see the moon everyday and be like MOON!!!?!!!?!!?!!?

ALWAYS REBLOG WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS PLEASE; ITS SO MUCH MORE THAN IMPORTANT TO PEOPLE. IT MEANS EVERYTHING TO SOMEBODY AND EVEN THOUGH YOU MIGHT NOT SEE THIS IN THE SAME LIGHT, SOMEONE MIGHT. INFACT YOU REBLOGGING THIS COULD STOP SOMEONE TAKING THEIR LIFE TONIGHT.
I noticed there isn’t one here for Ireland, so
Irish free suicide helpline: 01-116 123
last time i reblogged this, i got this ask:
so please, please reblog. this could actually save a life.
keep yourselves safe!
I’ll never forget that one time I was talking to this boy and I rejected him (mind you I almost gave him my address because we were supposed to go out) and he stalked and harassed me for an entire month and put my number on Craigslist (I was getting hundreds of calls and texts every day to the point my phone stopped working).
Men are crazy.
I had one throw a water bottle at me for ignoring him as I walked down the street. I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter on my way to a doctors appointment. The bottle missed me.
He’s lucky I was pregnant. I pulled my box cutter out on a dude one night on the train when I used to work nights a few years back. I scare myself sometimes because I’m gonna kill somebody one day.
I always carry my knife with me just because dudes love to act stupid so I’m prepared to cut they ass accordingly :)
Omg where can I get a pocket knife?
Amazon! They have these knifes disguised as keys.
I got this on amazon. Closes up and looks like a leaf. Sits right on my key chain.
WomenOnGuard.com also has a selection, many of which you can find on Amazon - but should you find yourself spending $50 on self defense weapons, WomenOnGuard.com offers free pepper spray & free shipping (as of March 14, 2018 - in case that offer ends at some point)
As someone with limited strength and physical mobility, but who can press a button pretty easily, I recommend personal keychain alarms that are set to make a VERY loud noise (140db–about the same noise level as a chainsaw). They’re about $8 a piece usually, but you can buy 3 for 16 and split them among your family and friends. If it doesn’t startle and deter the harasser/attacker, it’ll definitely get someone’s attention.
I usually end up taking most my classes in evening so I can go straight to work after. For a year or so I never carried anything with me. When the security guard at my job found out he was livid. He went and got me mace and a little pocket knife.
Within the last year I’ve had a guy follow me in the parking garage when ain’t no other cars there.
I’ve had guys waiting outside my job and no one is there to walk me to my car at 3am.
Strap up ladies cause these men do note care how scary they are, they don’t care that they intimidate you into talking to you.
But also ladies RESEARCH THE LAWS OF YOUR STATE/CITY, cause some of the things you buy may get you arrested & possibly charged; even in self defence. For example: It’s illegal in NY state to carry and use a taser or possess a knife longer than a certain length. This is also very important, shitty to find out but important.
To ALL my female followers, please be safe!
Reblogging for the personal Keychain alarm for us disabled ladies. I can’t handle a knife with my hands so this is super helpful.
hey hi hello just wanna say
PLEASE DO NOT FIGHT PEOPLE WHEN YOU ARE IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS!
When you are in a high-stress environment, you will lose your high-motor skills. This means that doing complex tasks will be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT if you are not a properly trained professional!
For example, the pocket knives shown in this text post. PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND PURCHASE A POCKET KNIFE AS DEFENSE! First, many states have banned weapons like this because if you are not professionally trained in how to use them, YOU WILL BE INJURED!!! Like I do NOT care if you’ve watched butterfly knife tutorials on YouTube (I’m looking at you, middle school boys) WHEN YOU ARE PUT IN A HIGH-STRESS ENVIRONMENT, YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER HOW TO USE THESE WEAPONS UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED IN HOW TO USE THESE TOOLS IN STRESSFUL ENVIRONMENTS! These are short-range weapons and if you don’t know what you’re doing and if you’re being approached/attacked by someone larger than you, THEY WILL GRAB/HIT/KICK/PUNCH/HURT YOU WHILE YOU FUMBLE TO UNSHEATH YOUR LEAF-SHAPED POCKET KNIFE. When you are in a high-stress environment, you will go into fight/flight/freeze. Most people will go with flight or freeze. Fighting will only do you good if you are either a professional or in a situation where it’s your last resort.
THE ONLY TIME YOU SHOULD FIGHT SOMEONE IS IF YOU ARE BEING LIFTED/CARRIED/RESTRAINED/ETC BY SOMEONE. For example, if a large man were to pick you up to put you in the back of a van, this is where you will bite/kick/wiggle/hit/scream/go absolutely Batshit to get out of his grasp and escape. Also, I need you all to know that kicking men in the balls is not always effective.
I’ll say this again:
KICKING MEN IN THE BALLS IS NOT ALWAYS EFFECTIVE!
For some men, having their junk kicked/smacked/crushed will absolutely destroy them, for some, it will be a momentary pain they can battle through, for others it will do absolutely nothing. PLEASE DO NOT USE KICKING SOMEONE IN THE BALLS AS YOUR SELF-DEFENSE TACTIC BECAUSE IT WILL MOST LIKELY NOT WORK. Even if the person has sensitive junk, they can still grab your leg, knock you over, etc.
As for devices that produce loud noises: these can be very effective, but it can also be detrimental to yourself. Loud noises can be unpredictable and can harm yourself as well and any other people in range of that sound, which can make people nauseous/dizzy/etc. I’d say the risk to yourself is not worth purchasing one of these devices.
Now, for the bane of my existence: pepper spraY:
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT USE PEPPER FUCKING SPRAY!
This shit is by far one of the biggest self-defense scams in my opinion. They are unpredictable, unreliable, and can be WAY too complicated for high-stress environments. First of all, you have to get your pepper spray out. I know a lot of women say they keep it in their purse, but finding ANYTHING in your purse can be a hassle, nevertheless when you’re in a situation where you’re threatened with bodily harm and your body is Flipping the Fuck Out. After you have your pepper spray out, you now need to figure out which end the nozzle is facing. This is important because if you have the nozzle pointed at yourself, well, you’ve now pepper-sprayed yourself. Ok, so now you have located your spray, have the nozzle pointed at the attacker and are ready to spray. First, they have to be close enough that the spray will reach them. This means that they’d likely be close enough to grab you in a second or two, so you better get this shit right otherwise you’ve just been standing there while they approach you. But what if you’re downwind? You can’t just run around the other side and spray them, this isn’t a choreographed confrontation and you DEFINITELY will barely remember how to do anything when confronted with a high-stress situation like this, and now you end up having that spray blow back into your face.
PEPPER SPRAYS ARE COMPLICATED WEAPONS AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LIMIT THE VARIABLES NEEDED TO SUCCESSFULLY DEPLOY THIS WEAPON. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THESE AND USE THEM AS YOUR ONLY TOOL OF DEFENCE.
Instead, buy a tactical flashlight.
These are basically portable Bright as Fuck flashlights that are simple to carry around and are pretty simple to use. And, best of all, they’re highly effective.
Ever turn your phone on at night and blinded yourself even though it was on night mode AND the lowest brightness setting? Imagine that shit but with a mini-fog light. These tools are super useful, not just in a confrontational situation but also when walking home at night when its dark or when you just need a really strong light.
Let’s say a guy’s approaching you from across the street and you are threatened, take out your flashlight and press the button. The beam will hit that mofo in the face and he will be dazed/confused/blinded/stunned. This will give you an opportunity to GET THE FUCK OUT. Sometimes all you need is a few extra seconds to sprint the fuck away. Also, some of these lights have a strobe function and will Extra Fuck Up someone approaching you.
But please, once again, do not have violence be your main defense against someone. Even if you have a black belt in Karate or Jiu Jitsu, if you have not been trained to use your fighting skills in a high-stress environment, you will forget how to do a flying sidekick and instead will flail around while panicked. Do not go out and buy a knife, you do not know how to use it properly and you will most likely injure yourself instead of the person attacking you. Do not rely on pepper spray, it is unpredictable and complicated to depend upon in a life-threatening situation. And please, take a self-defense class where they actually teach you stuff like this. Knowing how to punch and kick is really helpful, but unrealistic. Find an instructor who will teach you practical defense tools like evasion and long-distance defense.
PLEASE REBLOG THIS VERSION! TOO MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY USE WEAPONS AND WILL END UP HURTING THEMSELVES!
hey i know i reblogged this post but this last addition wasn’t there dkfhdhddj
TRANS WOMEN: HERE'S SOME SHIT YOUR DOCTOR WONT TELL YOU ABOUT HRT
1. Progesterone: not for everyone, but for many people it may increase sex drive and WILL make your boobs bigger. Also effects mood in ways that many find positive (but some find negative). Most doctors won’t prescribe this to you unless you ask. Most trans girls I know swear by it.
2. Injectible estrogen: is more effective than pill or patch form. Get on it if you can bear needles bc you will see more effects more quickly.
3. Estradiol Cypionate: There is currently a shortage of injectible estradiol valerate. There is no shortage of estradiol cypionate. Functionally they do the same shit.
4. Bicalutamide: This is an anti-androgen that has almost none of the side-effects of spironolactone or finasteride. The girls I know who are on it are evangelical about it.
@euryale-dreams
Are there HRT medications that don’t increase blood clot risk? I’m already at risk because of my blood pressure, and my doctor won’t prescribe HRT that increases clot risk while I’m on the medication - and I may never not be on the medication.
Absolutely.
The concerns surrounding venous thromboembolic events as a side-effect of hormone replacement therapy can mostly be traced back to one particular study known as the Women’s Health Initiative. This study was an enormous undertaking which, unfortunately, demonstrated significant adverse effects of the hormone therapies studied. As a result of this the use of hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal cis women was dramatically reduced as the medical community began to question whether or not the therapy caused more harm than good.
Naturally, trans women have been suffering from this fall-out ever since.
What physicians seem to fail to recognize is that the study examined a very specific hormone regimen which was, arguably, outmoded at the time the study was conducted: It examined the use of conjugated equine estrogen (Premarin) with or without the use of medroxyprogesterone acetate. Neither of these drugs is regularly used for the treatment of transgender women.
The estrogen most commonly used to treat transgender women nowadays is 17β-estradiol either in pill form or in the form of a sticky patch that you apply to your skin. Esters of estrogen (e.g. estradiol valerate) are also sometimes used either in a pill form or as an intramuscular injection.
Transdermal estradiol patches are the gold standard when it comes to treating women who are at high risk of a venous thromboembolic event. It simply does not increase the risk of developing a venous thromboembolism. The only thing you should keep in mind is that patches are not always well tolerated because of the lifestyle changes required to keep them from falling off and the fact that they tend to irritate the skin.
Fortunately, oral 17β-estradiol appears to be safe, regardless of the increased risk. At least one large study has shown that the use of oral estradiol in trans women is not associated with venous thromboembolic events. An individual woman’s risk would need to be substantial in order to contraindicate the use of oral estradiol.
For those who have significant risk of venous thromboembolism because they have had a previous thromboembolic event, because they are paralyzed, or because of some other factor it is good to know the relative risk between oral and transdermal estrogen. The latest research indicates that the use of transdermal estrogen lowers your risk of a thromboembolism to 80% of what your risk would be using oral estrogens.
It’s difficult to find hard numbers regarding the relative risk of venous thromboembolic events with regards to hypertension. The best I could find after an hour or so of searching was this study regarding VTE in lung cancer patients. Hypertension increased the risk by a factor of 1.8.
However, to put that into perspective being of African descent increases your relative risk for deep vein thrombosis by a factor of 1.3 when compared to Europeans. Europeans are, themselves, at increased risk when compared to Asians and Pacific Islanders by a considerable margin: a four-fold increase.
I should point out that being ‘male’ is also a risk factor for developing a thromboembolism and hormones are likely to be a contributing factor. Also, menopause is another serious risk factor. Given this information it is likely that the use of transdermal estradiol will lower your risk of thromboembolic events significantly.
As far as the anti-androgen is concerned: The primary use for spironolactone for cisgender people is as an antihypertensive.
Even if the risk of thromboembolism was truly significant with modern hormone replacement therapy it wouldn’t justify what your doctor is doing to you. The fact is that mortality in the transgender community from suicide–caused in part due to the lack of access to hormone therapy–is substantial. The quality of life lost when a trans woman is denied hormone therapy is substantial. The fact that your doctor does not appear to be taking this into consideration when they weigh the risk of thromboembolism against not receiving necessary medical care is deeply concerning.
I strongly recommend that you seek a doctor who is more sensitive to your medical needs as a transgender woman.
Edit: Fixed a minor, but embarrassing, error.
oh wow this is so helpful & good info
Everyone who cares about transfem people please reblog this
this was really fucking helpful
I know a lot of trans women dont have acess to information like this and its very helpful.
this is a great resource and sorry to add commentary on it but is there a source for “Injectible estrogen is more effective than pill or patch form?”
asking because people say exactly the same thing about testosterone and it’s a myth (not to say that means it must be the same for estrogen, just wondering if there really is a difference)
Information about hormones everyone!
