Image: A man in an old big brimmed hat with a star on the side tucked into a band, he has a fairly long combed beard and hair down to his shoulders and he has a lacy collar. He looks alright
There's a ribbon banner with his name on it "Robert Catesby" and below that text: "Basically, it's all his idea."
Image: A tudor man at the top on the left hand side, and a pre-tudor man on the top on the right hand side, in the middle is the face of a woman with her eyes closed, and a bearded man in a cage. The image is like a family tree, ending in a picture of robert catesby at the bottom. There's also a symbol of the triple crown and crossed keys. in the top left and middle.
Text: top left - "SIR ROBERT THROCKMORTON HER FATHER" top right "WILLIAM CATESBY", on an arrow pointing to the main the cage "ALSO WILLIAM CATESBY" A sign underneath the two in the middle saying "MUM + DAD"
Robert was a descendent of a courtier on his mother's side (Throckmorton) and on his father's side an influential advisor to Richard III
His father was imprisoned for being Catholic and he had family executed
ok I am just going to put a bunch of stuff up because otherwise I'll nevver put it back up, I am just not gonna be able to do all of the descriptions etc
"historically people had servants" incorrect. historically people WERE servants, and many of us still are.
I feel like people try to explain how [historical figure] had all the time to do so many Great Accomplishments and thus go "it's because they had servants". Which is true. But then leave it at that rather than continue on to the more important point that the servants actually often were as tired and overworked and unable to have time for themselves as so many of us are. "People lived this way because they had servants" okay and how were the SERVANTS living???
The backbone of indie comics is basically word of mouth.
Creators can plug their stories as often as they want but it doesn't really do any good if people only like the post and scroll
If you like a webcomic and wish more people read it, share posts from the creator about it!
Sharing update notification, links to the webcomic, even art of characters is super helpful!
If you're ever too nervous to leave any comments, it's a good alternative!
I know I wouldn't have many of the readers I have now if not for people sharing my posts about my OCs and comic links.
Check out my page if you want to read a webcomic about the gunpowder plot (paused for a bit because I can't access my computer)

Text: This is the story of the Gunpowder Plot
Text: Prologue: What's up with the Catholics?
Text: By 1534 King Henry VIII had split with Rome (the pope)
Image: King Henry VIII flippin u off (imagine you are the pope)
Text: He formed a new church, the Church of England (Anglican) he's now the head and he rules (so said God)
So you're a traitor if you still follow the Pope, and he also messed with some monks etc. but this is just a short intro plus he was still functionally Catholic just split from Rome & excommunicated
Image: King Henry VIII still flipping you off and now you can see his legs
Text: Henry VIII died in 1547
For the next 6 years England was ruled by the Lord Protector Edward Seymour (the Duke of Somerset and uncle of Ed)
The official ruler of England was Edward VI but he was 9 and later in his short life didn't even want to be the ruler
Edward Seymour made the state religion super Protestant and introduced a bunch of new rules for religion and prayer books and took the opportunity to ransack all the Catholic churches
Image: Edward Seymour holding up a plain cross with his hand on the shoulder of sickly Ed - Edward VI
Text: Edward VI died age 15
and if we ignore his cousin Lady Jane Grey's ?? days of rule where she was never crowned properly
In 1553 Queen Mary had her coronation
In 1554 she married the King of Spain!!
Her younger brother (half bro Ed) tried to remove her from the line of succession beause she was Roman Catholic
Well.. her nickname is Bloody Mary
Image: Kinda creepy picture of Queen Mary
Image: Mary from the previous image but she's holding Julius III's head.
Text: Mary ruled for 5 years
During this time she tried to heavily reverse the Reformation
Which included sentencing over 300 people as heretics and then sentencing them to death - by fire
This upset a few people
Image: Queen Elizabeth the First in a big christian ruff
Text: Then Elizabeth became Queen
She wanted to be a moderate Protestant ruler, and her first 12 years were bloodless but throughout her reigh, especially during the threat of invasion of Mary's Philip and his Spanish Armada, she created a repressive atmosphere
✝ Catholic church services forbidden ✝ Teachers must be licensed Anglicans ✝ You can't criticise the Church of England ✝ Acting or speaking on the Pope's orders, or in his name, carried the death penalty ✝ If you don't go to Church on Sunday you'll be given a massive fine ( rectivism) [propotional fines] ✝ If you don't go to Church on Sunday you'll be given a massive fine ✝ Only specific Anglican books can be used, and no criticising them ✝ You can't convert anyone away from being Anglican
✝ Going abroad to be trained as a Catholic Priest has the death penalty
Image: Henry the Eighth at the top of a family tree, then an arrow going to Sickly Ed and his regent, then an arrow to his sister Bloody Mary and one going to their sister Queen Eliz the first.
Text: At the top it says Reformation 1534, 13 years, died 1547, then 6 years, then 5 years, then 47 years. With there being a number in red of 19, 24 then 71.
To the side it say - So in total that's about 71 years of religious turmoil.
Text: in 2017 71 years ago was WWII
47 years ago was the moonlanding and woodstock
Image: King James looking out at you
Text: So now we've got King James I & VI He's the new King, been crowned in 1603. All this mess is in living memory.
Deets on the name: King James Charles Stewart 6 of Scotland, 1 of England, 1 of Ireland
