Had a recent realization that I really do have a type.
I find Tucker Wetmore incredibly attractive. And my hockey crush from my local ECHL team has a lot of similarities. The mustache and the cinnamon roll smile apparently really do it for me.
But hey, we take a great photo together.
I just need to take a second to vent, and throw a pity party for myself.
2 years ago, my car was stolen. It was recovered following a police pursuit where it was stopped using spike sticks, which caused it to be significantly damaged. My car insurance deemed it a total loss.
With the insurance payout, I bought a new (but actually used) vehicle that had about 62k miles on it. That was exactly 2 years and 2 days ago.
1.5 weeks ago, that car threw a check engine light while I was driving and the engine started misfiring. After replacing the battery and spark plugs, issues were still happening so I got it towed to the dealership today. They called this afternoon to say the entire top part of the engine needs rebuilt.
Oh, and all this has happened in the 3 weeks between my vacation in Salt Lake City and my upcoming vacation in Orlando.
I truly feel like I can’t catch a break. My only hope at this point is that the extended warranty that I got with the car will cover most of the repairs. Otherwise I truly don’t know what I’ll do. I still owe $14,600 on my car loan. I haven’t gotten a significant raise in nearly 5 years.
Times like this I really, really wish I had someone to share these burdens with. But instead it’s all on me. I’ve already been mentally burnt out for a while, but this has taken it to another level. I’m exhausted. I just want to cry and let someone else deal with this. And sometimes I just want to give up.
It cost me $6000, but hey, I have my car back.

I think we need to extend hockey fan etiquette of “leave that man alone” to the Heated Rivalry cast.
It’s simple:
Is that man working? No.
Then leave that man alone.
I fear this has become a serious problem
I’m truly in a post-Heated Rivalry depression.
I’ve watched all the episodes at least 3 times. I’m watching every edit I come across on tiktok, Twitter, and instagram. I’m devouring every photoshoot and article the cast and creators do.
I don’t know what they put in this show, but it’s legitimately one of the best pieces of visual media I’ve seen in a long time.
And if I say Ilya alone in the shower at the end of episode 4 was insanely hot, what then?
The Naked Ambition of the Heated Rivalry Boys
Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams were both virtual unknowns when they signed up to star as on-the-DL hockey players in a boldly smutty gay romance shot for a Canadian streamer. Now that the series is 2025’s biggest surprise hit, they’re navigating unfamiliar territory (and negotiating unprecedented thirst)—but at least they have each other to lean on.
Heated Rivalry 1x04 - Club Scene
I could probably scream into the void about this scene alone for an hour. I’ve watched it probably 100 times at this point, and it still makes my stomach drop every time.
Ilya desperately trying to fall back on his old coping mechanism of meaningless sex, only to spot Rose’s friend Miles at the bar, knowing IMMEDIATELY that Shane is there. Ilya turning slowly to survey the room and find Shane “dancing” with Rose, her hands under his shirt. The absolute devastating pain on his face and the deep breath in at the realization of what he’s seeing. And then he finds a random woman to dance and make out with hoping Shane will see it.
Then we have Shane dancing sandwiched between Rose and Miles, which is a visual representation of him struggling to accept his sexual identity. The lackluster kiss with Rose while Miles breaths on his neck, looking up to see Ilya passionately kissing a woman. Then breaking away to go to the bathroom because he’s panicking, only to stare down Ilya with so much hurt on his face.
Not to mention the music choice. The constant repeat of “this is not enough” showing that what they have apart will never be enough for the two of them.
And of course it then flows into Shane and Rose together at his house, and Ilya in the shower at the hotel alone because he couldn’t stand being with anyone other than Shane. The lack of interest and passion as Shane heads up the stairs to be with Rose, knowing this isn’t who he wants. Both men thinking about the other while they cum.
Literal cinema. Jacob Tierney, you are a genius.
I’m so obsessed with how the paintings in this shot represent Shane and Ilya’s head and heart.
Ilya, burdened with a sick father and an ungrateful brother and refusing to acknowledge these feelings for Shane that get worse every time they see each other, standing next to the painting with darkness above. But the light always lingers for Shane, it always follows him when they interact.
And Shane, always easygoing but unseen, floating on cloud 9 from his back to back season wins, feels light above. But the darkness is lingering below; he’s been pushing down and ignoring his sexuality his whole life and the cracks are starting to show.

It also seems to be a visual callback to the gym scene and their opposite outfits. This moment was so integral to their entire story that I could see Ilya picking out art that mimics it. Even if it’s all subconscious.

Heated Rivalry (2025)
I’ve watched this an embarrassing number of times. The part that gets me is how clearly you can see that Ilya cares for Shane, especially in the 2nd gif. He wants it to feel good for him; to know that Shane is enjoying their first time together. You can see how much it means to Ilya that after years of wanting him and chasing him he finally gets to be with Shane in this way. Ugh, he’s such a soft lover boy.
I truly think Ilya fell first AND harder for Shane. And that’s at least partially because Ilya already knew his sexuality whereas Shane was still figuring it out. But boy does Shane catch up in the end.
Piping hot take: I don't give a shit if straight actors play queer characters as long as they do so with empathy and authenticity. When you say shit like "only queer actors should play queer characters" what you're actually saying is only OUT queer actors should play queer characters. If you're assuming an actor (or anyone else, for that matter) who hasn't declared their sexuality is straight, you are participating in heteronormativity.
I truly cannot begin to articulate just how badly I need Connor Storrie to start wearing his nipple rings again, and show up on screen as Ilya with them in.
I firmly believe it would be completely in character for Ilya to have them, and they just look so. damn. good.
I’ve been thinking about this more because it lives rent free in my mind.
Shane and Ilya are separated for long periods of time because of their schedules. We know Ilya quit sleeping with other people after they finally confessed their feelings for one another. He’d been using sex as an outlet for his emotions and stress, but obviously that’s no longer an option.
In my mind, he gets pierced on a particularly bad day when he needs a distraction and knows he won’t see Shane for a long time. The next time they’re together, bam, piercings. And Shane just absolutely loses his mind.
I truly cannot begin to articulate just how badly I need Connor Storrie to start wearing his nipple rings again, and show up on screen as Ilya with them in.
I firmly believe it would be completely in character for Ilya to have them, and they just look so. damn. good.
