I legit needed to hear this
Nug has had a little bit of history of buying extra food/snacks on his lunch account for the last couple of years. He gets caught, and historically, that’s it for the year. He stops, promises it will never happen again. This is the 3rd time, so it’s obviously not an accident at this point. I’m trying to be somewhat understanding because kids are gonna kid, but its strike 3 and and says he doesn’t remember buying extra food ($5 dipping dots, WTF??! Is this school or an amusement park?) and I’m struggling to keep my cool about it this time.
I truly don’t think it’s someone using his account so UGH.
I called bullshit on Nug and he admitted he did it.
D is annoyed but also thinks it’s an impossible position to put a kid in, having a lunch account in a school with a majority of kids who are able to buy whatever. Like having a credit card.
I disagree. Credit card overspending has consequences. It’s not a “well, maybe we shouldn’t have given him this limit” situation. We let him know the boundary. When your parents say no, it means no. When they say it more than once, it should REALLY SINK IN that not OK means not OK.
I didn’t do that stuff as a kid. I felt bad about asking for lunch money to buy ONE lunch. In all fairness, I grew up not wanting to bother or burden anyone, and we were poor AF until I was in 5th grade, but Bug has been raised the same way as Nug and she didn’t and still doesn’t do things like this.
He is 11, he’s in 5th grade, and he knows right from wrong. It’s not an impossible position. It’s a choice he made knowing how we feel about it. This is not his first rodeo. This is not rocket science.

Can’t wait for, like, 2025 when we look back on the 2018/2019 era and say “hey, remember when we were all really freaking depressed? That was a crazy time! Glad we aren’t like that anymore”
Hey,
Don’t say anything
the worst part about grief is that it feels like the world should be horrendously earth shatteringly changed, and to an extent it IS but its also the same. to everyone else it's just another tuesday. the world moves on. you have to go grocery shopping.
see the THING IS I don't feel like I ever worked hard enough to have "earned" the burnout, which is. probably how we got here.
She still thinks she was in the right
The tone of this article is wild - "She still thinks she was in the right"? She *was* 100% within her rights not to give up her seat she paid for, the *person filming was wrong to film her without her permission to shame her for not giving up her pre-booked seat, and I'm glad she's suing and I hope she wins.
*not the parents, just another passenger
Why do people feel so entitled to ask someone to give up their assigned, paid for seat? If you want to sit in a window seat/ with your spouse/next to your kid then pay the damn fee to reserve those specific seats! Your lack of planning is not some other poor traveler's problem!
What @scarygodmother said. It drives me bonkers when parents don’t pay the extra fee associated with having assigned seats. Why should someone give up their seat because of your poor planning? I’m a parent who has flown with a small child many, many times. There are so many things that are out of your control but planning for seats is not one of them.
^^^ YES.
The person that filmed this and posted the video with the intent of shaming her is an asshole. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
