The Nine-banded Armadillo, practically blind and deaf, use their keen sense of smell to hunt for food. Only the Three-banded can roll into a ball for defense. The Nine-banded jumps 3-4 feet into the air when startled which is the cause of most vehicle related deaths. They can hold their breath for 6 minutes and can swim or walk on the bottom to cross streams. Ability to delay gestation, I've read from as long as 2 to 8 years, and always giving birth to 4 identical quadruplets.
