i love lovesick reg who adores his big brother and fails miserably at hiding it, who is clingy, only thrives in his brother's presence, always seeking his touch and relishes his affection, who gets jealous and cries easily at the thought of sirius loving someone else.

and i love regulus who is so good at hiding his feelings that sirius doesn't suspect a thing, regulus who feels guilty about loving his brother and would rather take it to the grave, who distances himself to protect both of them and rejects sirius' affection even if it kills him

sirius would sooo have a guilt complex about his incestuous feelings bc he only understands what they meant when he's a teenager at hogwarts and already decided to reject everything that reminded him he's a black. he would be so disgusted with himself he'd project that into regulus, tell himself that it's regulus' fault for making him feel like that.

but sirius has no self control either, so he would give in again and again when they were at home, just to end up angry at regulus for letting him do whatever he wants or looking too attractive or simply because regulus wanted him back 😛

I totally get that the fairly niche pairings and the fact that it's a modern AU isn't the best recipe for making people click on it, but this is my favourite thing I've ever written. The incest is mainly emotional and passive until the last third, and my first (and so far, only) rosekiller took an unexpected turn: they're messy and terrible but also tender and lovely, and have absolutely grown on me. (Also: James is in this story, and he is alive. All along. That alone should earn me a gold star.)
