becoming huntress and red hood is like an armor, something to wear that isn't vulnerable the way helena or jason is. it's proof that they've put in the work, that they should be so close to getting everything they want and finally, finally healing or resting or silencing the voice inside them that says they arent safe or they cant be happy until its over. but they arent! and they cant be! they cant have happiness or revenge or anything the way they want to no matter how much of themselves they put into it! because thats the thing they've been denying!! they can't go back! they can't have those lives back!

taking down or destroying or killing the people involved in her family's deaths wont bring them back, it wont fix that absence in her. killing joker or bruce killing joker or bruce killing him doesn't fix anything, there's no choice where jason can go back to being the kid that they both lost, there's nothing either of them can do that will erase what happened. they'll both still be haunted by the memories of what happened to them and the ghosts of who they used to be.

and it'll be so much worse now because there's blood on their hands and it was all for nothing! it was all pointless because it was never going to fix anything! god its so much worse when you realise that their plans were doomed from the start on so many levels but mainly the fact that. they're the kind of things a kid would want/do (not the actual actions) if you think about it. its the desire to be protected and be rid of your monsters and the desire to be loved because you're scared and hurting. its.. the. i don't have the words to deal with this but it hurts and im angry so im going to explode and the. the thinking that the happy ending you want will come after all the horrible things you've seen. that somehow despite it all you'll come through and everything will be okay again. i cant totally put it into words but it does. it does speak to the fact that they were both so young when everything happened to them. their actions, however good or bad they are, are the actions of a scared kid lashing out because what else can they do. yknow? does that make sense?
