⌜🎸⌟ ⋯ Well, that certainly is not Flame Prince. So best guess, it’s his double from that other universe. Going out on a limb, he guesses her name is probably Flame Princess, and he’s definitely thinking it’s a good idea to ruffle her fiery feathers and see her reaction.

“Heeey, FP. Is it hot in here or is it just you?” He shoots her a wink and a grin.

Cue owlish blinking, eyes as dark and deep as charcoal widening until suddenly they sharpen with recognition. 

Oooh you gone and done it now, boy. The form change is immediate, her figure flaring just half a size larger when she stiffens her palm. 

“Are you...dROPPING YOUR CRUD LINES AT ME!?” her hand singes against his face in a smack; despite the initial anger however, her cheeks have definitely turned a different, indignant hue. Somewhere, deep deep inside maybe, she was charmed by your terrible attempt at humor.

Or just so embarrassed she wanted you to die.

It was with a grin, wide enough to show her prideful fangs to the other, that Jubilee gave a short chuckle. 

❝it’s a long story, but i’m not ‘zactly HUMAN. fire’s even worse for me!❞ Even if her tone was lighthearted, she calmed the smile from her face to prove how serious she was on the matter. Fire was one of her few weaknesses, after all. 

❝i dunno, i kinda flunked science, but i’ve got blood and organs!❞ Teasing around, she shrugged and soon gave a more outright answer. ❝i’m a vampire.❞

Though she's not sure what to make of all that, it wouldn't be the first time someone was hesitant to fire. It's not like it's either of their faults that fire was a weakness—its primary function was to destroy. FP can't be too mad about that. The girl isn't recoiling or showing disgust either, so Flame Princess concedes that she might be cool.

Even if she was a vampire, and generally all vampires were good for were inciting revolts and loud parties in the Fire Kingdom. Or was that demons?

Oh well.

The comment on science has her laughing before she realizes it. Flame Princess stifles the noise with a curled fist, but her eyes are bright with approval.

“Science can be pretty dumb, don't even worry about it.” she waves the topic off with a smile, her mood much improved.

“My name's Flame Princess, but you can call me FP. Who are you?”

The situation isn’t dire yet, but Flame Princess is hardly the type to wait things out. Especially not when Jake 2 has shown the beginning stages of “Pack Sickness”--something specific to them, an ailment that usually occurs when separated from the pack in a finite manner. Think homesickness, only with more crying, sniffles and slowly dying embers. Thankfully there is a cure, but in such an unfamiliar place...well, she needed to enlist the help of someone who didn’t burn through their map every time they got lost. 

“It’s really, really important that we get these ingredients, Finn. Otherwise...” she casts a troubled look at the small dog, caught in a bad dream. He kicks defensively, tongue lolling while the whimpers never quite stop. He missed Cinnamon Bun, that was the issue. She was sure of it. Flame Princess bites her bottom lip, fingers curling tightly into fists. 

...she missed him too.

But there was no time to think of home now. FP gestures at a pad and paper expectantly. 

“I just don’t want to see him go extrusive--he’ll break into pieces. You get me?”

Food just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Sapphire thought eating something would help restore the energy to use her powers, and while she did feel perked up, she also felt weird.

Sapphire had only ever eaten as Garnet, so maybe she should have been careful and not drank an entire milkshake in ten minutes, just because Garnet could.

She could withstand freezing temperatures…so why did she feel so cold? SHe knew the answer was loneliness. Maybe next time she should try hot tea. That reminded her of Ruby.

Speaking of Ruby, Sapphire suddenly felt a warm presence beside her. She knew it couldn’t be her, but she had to check. She gasped as she saw the person next to her was on fire.

“Doesn’t that hurt you?” Sapphire asked quietly.

Though the smell when it burned was a little weird, FP had grown pretty fond of popcorn. She’d managed to perfect a cooking method--how long she needed to hold the entire stalk of corn, the kind of container it needed to be held inside, the way she was supposed to eat it. Flame-retardent fabrics that didn’t utilize magic were pretty easy to access here, and she definitely made use of that. The sound is a bit jarring but FP hardly cares; she’s not in the best of moods to handle strangers staring, and a quick return look is normally enough to put a stop to it.

Before her now was some kind of...television, but there were eight of them all behind a glass case of some kind. It seemed to be inside of a building, closed for now, but the display remains on in spite of that. What has FP’s attention is the fact that they’re all playing different things. If she gets bored with one, she just shifts to another. It’s enough that she loses some of her situational awareness, that she’d invaded the space of someone else. Their question startles her, but she has a pretty good handle of her nerves here. Exploding was a bad idea when she could apparently only do it a few times.

FP blinks with a furrowed expression, not entirely sure what the stranger means. Doesn’t it...hurt her? What? A few more blinks, a purse of lips--then she has it. What a weird place, though; no one in Ooo asked things like that. 

“O-Oh, you must mean...” she kneels to touch a leaf on the ground; it immediately curls into itself, reduced in seconds to a pile of ash. “Yeah, that’s just how I am. Why would it hurt?”

Honestly, this was probably going nowhere. So much for teamwork...not that this was something Flame Princess thought her candied counterpart really capable of. There was some kind of science talk that she only half-understood, so it wasn’t really her fault if her attention wandered elsewhere. FP focuses instead on the more relateable features in Bubblegum: her expressions, how they matched up with what she was saying, her body language. And suddenly she’s doing that thing again--that...that thing where she tries to be chummy, but in the grossest way. The Fire Kingdom advisers called it ‘political correctness’ and agreed that it was a skill FP probably didn’t need to use or understand; diplomacy was a relatively new concept.

“Ugh, could you can it with the fake formality junk? Just get to the point!” 

She almost liked it better when PB acted more callously--at least then FP knew where they stood. With no kingdoms to provide face for here, she begins to wonder if it’s something Bubblegum can’t actually turn off. It’s still way annoying, but that’s not the point. Flame Princess is determined to keep her bearing here, and rights herself to focus again. It’s then that she picks up on a subtle sway in Bubblegum’s tone, how her glaze looks just a little less perfect than usual and her words a little less precise. Was it like that the whole time?

“Hey um...you don’t look so good.” a pause--did she hear that? And what was with that glazed look in her-- 

“Princess Bubblegum--hey! HEY! Are you listening??”
