There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.\n\n– William Shakespeare, Hamlet Act II, Scene ii
“I think people would be happier if they admitted things more often. In a sense we are all prisoners of some memory, or fear, or disappointment—we are all defined by something we can’t change.”
— Simon Van Booy
“… sooner or later she had to give up the hope for a better past.”
—Irvin D. Yalom, Staring at the Sun: Overcoming the Terror of Death

🩷🩵 The Second Chance Convenience Store - Ho-Yeon Kim🩵🩷
A heartwarming read following a homeless man who lost his memories due to long-term alcohol abuse, finding his way back after bumping into a convenience store owner who gave him a second chance in life. Entertwining stories of staffs and patreons of the store as they cross paths with one another, also finding a second chance at giving life a new meaning.
Bought the book for the front cover 🥰😍, and flipped the pages for the beautifully written life stories inside. Yes, I am officially a sucker for cozy lit fics and this one is a top fav alright 🤭🤭
💬 Have you read this one? Give me your fav lit fic rec 😍

💙🖤 Sword of Kaigen - M.L. Wang🖤💙
One of my favorite read this year. Read it to take a break from the Poppy War series to refresh my eyes only to get blast with a new wave of roller coaster with this one 🫠 did not regret picking it up tho only that I didn't pick it up sooner 🫡
A stunning stand-alone following the life pre, during, and post war; propagandas, traumas, family relationship, weavened into a tragic but sureal fic.
Reading these kinds of books while living in a time that war is actually happening, without living in the place of war, leaves a very haunting feeling long after closing the book. Despite this book being fiction, there are people who are very real living under these very horrifying reality.
I'm not super educated with the reality of what's happening to actually talk more about it 🫢 but I do believe humanity is a natural instinct, and so is loving one another 💙 Here's to a brighter and clearer future ahead. We hold onto each other until then
Sneak peak to some of my favs quote of this book 👇👇
Wholeness, she had learned, was not the absence of pain but the ability to hold it.
But if I learned one thing from Firebird, it’s that a person’s tragedy doesn’t define them or cancel all the good in their life.
A life of dangerous adventures might seem worth it now, when you are young and seemingly invincible, but one day, you will have children, and you will not want that life for them.
“Let’s be older when we meet again,” Misaki said. “What?” “Not just in years. Let’s be better, and wiser, and brighter next time.”
“You learn over time that the world isn’t broken. It’s just… got more pieces to it than you thought. They all fit together, just maybe not the way you pictured when you were young.”
“All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.”
—Havelock Ellis
❤️ If you enjoy:
● A short, bingeable read (novella length)
● Workplace shenanigans
● Scheming coworkers
● Partners in crime energy
● Workplace gossip
🤓 Blurb:
The office was beige.
The solution? A fake HR complaints box.
Everyone thinks it’s official. Everyone’s filling it with petty drama, ridiculous demands,
and unfiltered confessions.
I planned to keep it secret…until Dan caught me.
Now we’re partners in crime, feeding the gossip, planting chaos, and laughing as the
office slowly unravels. It’s messy, it’s petty, and for the first time, work is actually fun.
But secrets have consequences. And when the complaint box blows up, we’ll have to
face HR, our furious coworkers, and the question neither of us saw coming: what
happens when the game is over?
💬 Favorite workplace romance?
Did it take me 1000 years to finally pick up the next book? Yes 😂
•
Did I have a blast playing the games along the characters again? Yep 🙂↕️ (though I miss Scarlett so much and I barely see her other than her lovesick displays?? Oh well)
•
Was I prepared for that plot TWIST? …🫥🫥🫥

~ One of my favorite ARC this year ~
📖 The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey
📆 Pub Date: 6 May 2025 (it fell on my bday pls 🥹🤭)
~~~
The story about a triplet growing up in a tightly secured home away from the society. Vincent, Lawrence, and William only had each other, growing up in the care of Mother Morning, Mother Afternoon, and Mother night. They followed their daily schedules, taking pills to keep them from the Bug, taking lessons from the Book of Knowledge, and trying to keep to their best behaviour to not get written up in the Book of Guilt. Like all the rest of the kids that grew up in the Home, the boys longed for the day they would be invited to go to Margate, the place where all the kids dream to go to have the best fun kids can get.
Until a change in minister and a slip of tongue from a local revealed a more sinister side of why they were brought up in this way, away from the rest of the community. Suddenly secrets from the past were brought to light, Their mothers and lessons started to shook in the lies they stood and Margate didn’t sound like the dream place they grew up to believe.
As the book progress, the truth about the Homes, the government schemes supporting it, and the people involved were brought to light. Honestly going into it the first half of the book I was wrecking my brain how on earth all this is gonna tie together at the end 🤯 But the pacing and detailing that that author gave throughout the book was crazy, and honestly freaked me out a bit on how real it felt. The imagination and creativity in this book is out of the world. I’m tryna venture more out of the usual romantasy reads and this was a perfect breath of fresh air. I feel like I love and hate all the characters at the same time.
It’s a long and lengthyyyy book, but for good reasons. All the questions were answered at the end in the most satisfying way. Thank you to @penguinbooksaus and @netgalley for the early access.
💛💙 A little last, current, next read…except there’s no next because I’m a mood reader and I know myself 🤡🤡😭 Anywayssss
💙🧡 Last read: The Prison Healer by @lynettenoni ~ MANNNNN what can I say about this book? 😭 Honestly went in blind and didn’t know what to except but I wasn’t expecting THATT 🫠🫠 When I say I was thrown soooo OFF by everything in this book. The plot twists were honestly crazyy. An awesome fantasy read and I’m so glad I finally picked this one up after it sitting on my shelf for almost a month! 🤌🤌
💛🩵 Current read: Better Than The Movies by @lynnpainterbooks ~ if you love romcoms, which I don’t usually, but scratch that for this book, you’re gonna lovee this one 😂 Honestly the romcom quotes in the beginning of each chapter PLS oh she knew what she was doing writing this book 🙂↕️🙂↕️ not my usual style but sometimes you just need a cute blushy romance to spice things up 🤭🤭
🤡🤍 Next read: don’t ask me, it will change five times by the time I finish my current read 🙂
P.s - sneak peak at Cookie smelling my treat and getting ready to snatch 😆😆
Hope you’re having a good current read too 🫶🫶 Help me find my next read PLSSS 👇👇👇
Okay been a hottt minute but I gotta sit down and do a proper post for this book because MANN I need a minute to let that sink INN on what I just read 😭😭
My thirdd R.F Kuang’s book (I know i’M RUNNING AS FAST AS I CAN) and every. single. ONEE of her books she always transports me to whatever time and scene her words are describing and I think that says all you need to know about the author’s writing style 🤌 She is soo goood and putting you in a scene and actually made you RELIVEE it together with the characters 🤯 Her detailing is timely and soo fitting on the scenes, and honestly so far one of the few authors that succeeded in making me shed actual tears when I’m reading.
A story about the gruesome reality of war, politics, and survival. The amount of details and research that went into this book 💛💛 and shed actual harsh history of what life is like stuck in a war. Had to close my book and touch grass so many times in between becauSE LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY HEART ❤️🩹❤️🩹
🧡 Heard soo much abt this series and I’m so glad I finally picked it up 😭 Also saw a littleee spoilers of the next few books along the way (which is FAIR it’s been out ages) and rip guys am I gonna survive the next two books 💀💀💀
Rin is a poor war orphan that spent her early years surviving under a family of drug traders. When an opporunity arise for her to be admitted to the country’s most prestigious military school, she saw it as an opportunity for a better life and jump in. Suddenly, the reality and ugliness of the politics and empire that she is training to protect start to reveal itself, and the gods hungry for blood calling her in.
Your sanity, your god, or your history, which one calls on you the most?
“Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment. Which is pretty amazing, when you actually think about it.”
— Sarah Dessen, Just Listen
End of week + month wrap-up 🥰 January felt like it was 32 years long and February lasted about 2 weeks 😂 despite it feeling so short, I somehow broke my book buying ban twice so 🫠🙂↕️
Soo many good reads for this month. And only as I’m making this I realise how much of a mood reader I am 😂😂 with the rate of me giving all the 4/5 ⭐️ to my reads. Here for the good time not for a perfect time 🤭🥹
Started a new role recently at work late last year which gave me MASSIVE anxiety because of the sensitive nature of it, but I’m starting to get the flow of it now and getting to enjoy life slightly more 🥰 hence the endless food pic with my one and only friend, my housemate 😂 (which apparently in your mid-twenties, it’s normal??? Rip social life)
Third month of the year, lezgooo 🔥💖
💬 What are some of your hopeful March reads?
Ahhhhh she’s hereee 🥹🥹💖💖💖💖 And she’s gorgeousss 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Saw so many early reviews of this book and safe to say that I am already OBSESSED and dying to start this one 🫶 Wayy to excited when I saw the notification that it has finally arrived ❤️❤️
Almost end of the week. Hope everyone’s still surviving okay 🥰🫠
An adorable story about a chaotic witch working in a prestigious finance role and her encouter with her frienemy, a happy-go-lucky, non-profit hero who gives little miracles with a flick of his hand. The story follows along the two as they navigate their friendship, banters, and sudden yearn for each other, while trying to find their missing magical items, all while hidding the fact that their day work is pitting themselves against each other.
This is my first book of the author and I’m so happy to have found her 🥹🫶 I don’t usually read a lot of cozy (??) fantasy because most of the time it’s a little too ‘tame’ for me 🤣🤭 At first glance this does give that cozy fantasy vibe but I really atee up the little spice and banter tucked within the coziness that made this book a perfect wind down read while still having that elements of excitement 🥰🥰
Thank you to the author for sending me the ARC for an honest review 🫶 #TheWitchofWallStreet #NetGalley
