Les mis x RDR2 AU where it's literally just Les Mis but the Patron Minette gets switched out for the VDL gang. This changes nothing to the plot.
Thenardier has a GOD DAMN PLAN
im trying to think of which VDL would fit the best for each
Thenardier - Dutch, fairly straightforward
Montparnasse - My first instinct says Lenny or Sean?. I think Lenny though. (Lenny’s my favourite)
Guelemer - boring choice but Bill
Claquesous - if im correct in believing that Claquesous is the cool smart one, then Trelawney
Babet - Strauss?
Brujon - I want to say Bill again tbh, but otherwise than I guess early game Sadie
Would Dutch be the one to raise Cosette? What kind of demon child would she be?
She might wind up a bit like Tilly, or on the other hand extremely deranged
The pacifist cynic and the idealist killer
For fucks sake by separating them this was the only way to keep the order correct
I spent 3 sleepless nights on this project to try and finish it for barricade day. HAPPY BARRICADE DAY Y'ALL!!!! I wanted to create something big and special @barricadeday
More rant under cut
Happy Barricade Day 🇫🇷
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
The real tragedy about the barricade is that we don’t know how much is true. Victor Hugo was there at the June Rebellion, so what is fact and what is fiction? That question gives me chills because we’ll never know.
Charles Jeanne (who I think is probably actual real life Enjolras) wrote an in-detail account of the ACTUAL barricades in a letter to his sister after the fact
you can read it, tenlittlebullets translated it into English :)
it’s really graphic, he leaves no gory details out, just FYI if you’re gonna read it, keep TW: VIOLENCE in mind
#how is he real-life enjolras if he survived (via metellus-cimber)
I’m so glad somebody asked this, because the answer is: when they finally ran out of ammunition, Charles Jeanne rounded up everyone who was still standing, went, “look, if we’re going to die, we might as well die fighting,” and led a suicidal ten-man charge against an entire flippin’ infantry column, armed with nothing but bayonets. The first few ranks of soldiers were so unprepared for such a spectacularly insane attack that they were too surprised to shoot. They crossed bayonets and tried to hold the insurgents off in hand-to-hand combat, but Jeanne’s swordsmanship was apparently aces, because he held off a bunch of them at once and covered his friends as they tried to breach the ranks. And once they were in, nobody could shoot them for fear of taking out their own guys.
So the last stand that the insurgents had intended as a noble suicide ended in them breaking through the ranks entirely and winding up in the next street over, outside the combat zone, going “well shit, what do we do now?” (I’m guessing the infantry column wasn’t very deep; central Paris at that point was a rabbit warren of narrow twisty streets, and assembling troops en masse for an organized attack was a logistical nightmare.) Unlike the National Guard, the army weren’t total chumps and got themselves turned around to give chase and start shooting once they weren’t at risk of friendly fire any longer… and that’s when all the civilians holed up in their houses went “no way, you’re not getting your hands on these crazy bastards” and started hurling furniture and crockery down on the soldiers’ heads. Jeanne was understandably distracted at the time, but afterwards somebody informed him that the barrage of unlikely projectiles included a piano. A piano. That is some straight-up Looney Tunes slapstick right there. No wonder Hugo went for the heroic death scene instead; if he’d stuck to real life, he probably would’ve gotten complaints that he’d wrecked his readers’ suspension of disbelief.
Anyway, someone opened an alley gate for them to shelter in and take stock of the casualties–most of them survived(!!!), but a few were pretty nastily wounded. Their host then had to lock Charles Jeanne in to keep him from charging right back out and taking on the whole goddamn army singlehanded. He probably would’ve broken down the door if the poor man hadn’t pointed out that going back out would give away his wounded comrades’ hiding place and the identities of the people sheltering them. They sat there listening to the gunfire gradually slow and go silent, and then in the middle of the night the ones who could still walk were allowed to slip away one by one at long intervals from each other. Charles Jeanne went straight home, slept like the dead for a few hours, was woken up at five in the morning with a warning that he’d been denounced and the building was surrounded, and then slipped out in disguise and managed to evade the police for four months before a former comrade ratted him out and he was arrested.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Charles Jeanne’s letter is an absolute treasure that deserves to be available to anyone in Les Mis fandom who wants to read it. Incidentally, “how Actual Historical Enjolras survived the barricades by being too good at his suicide mission” is also one of the stories I tell when anyone asks me what the hell is so interesting about researching people nobody’s ever heard of from an obscure chapter of French history.
Bringing this back for Barricade Day! To answer a few questions that keep coming up in the reblogs: here’s my translation of Jeanne’s letter, which was my main source. Jeanne stood trial, was imprisoned instead of executed (because can you imagine what a martyr he would’ve made), and died of tuberculosis just a few years later. Despite his improbable survival story, the RL June Rebellion was not an everybody-lives AU–like the revolt in Les Mis, it ended in a hard-fought retreat into one of the buildings on the street, followed by a massacre. The guys who led a suicide charge and accidentally won were, unfortunately, the exception.

#JusticeForJordanShaw
i’m making a post to talk about this with all the main information i feel is needed, so what’s happening to start? At the end of the month a new Les Misérables album is releasing, this recording is of the 40th Anniversary Cast from the WEST END. The cast listed are all entirely from the west end. Except for Jordan Shaw.
Instead Jordan has been replaced with a white actor, James Gish, now while i don’t want to place this blame onto Gish nor say anything against his performance, it’s INCREDIBLY disappointing and honestly ridiculous he’s the enjolras listed. James was NEVER at any of the 40th shows in the west end, the entire time it was Jordan Shaw playing in the role of Enjolras and he never missed a single day throughout the whole run. Jordan would’ve been there for whenever they decided to record, as even Killian Donnelly (Jean Valjean) said this was recorded live! They have INTENTIONALLY removed and replaced him.
[Cast List, Jordan Shaw’s name is nowhere listed despite the rest of the 40th Anniversary company being here] Cameron Mackintosh (The Producer of the musical) did an interview with WhatsOnStage where he’s said he’s decided to splice the two 40th anniversary shows (the west end and the arena tour) but the ONLY songs that have actually been switched are only songs where Jordan would be singing as enjolras. Doesn’t sound like a coincidence right?
This is clear discrimination against Jordan Shaw. The fact they have chosen to remove one of their black principals KNOWING fully well how much this role has meant to Jordan and many other people who take inspiration from him, as well as the fact Jordan has helped to pave the way for us to get more POC enjolras actors! And not to even mention the fact Shaw won an award! An award in the role of Enjolras! He won “Best Supporting Male Actor” ! And it is so incredibly rare for this role to even be recognised especially in this way! Ap surely this would be something they want to promote right? But no, they have chosen not to and instead replaced him. I can’t even begin to imagine how disappointing this must be for Jordan - to see everyone else you worked so hard with get to be apart of this album and seeing that you’ve been the only person cut.
The fact they believed that no one in the fandom would even notice jordan’s removal is incredibly disrespectful and disappointing to me, the fact they thought we would simply turn a blind eye is disgusting. So please, talk about this. Jordan deserves his talent to be recognised.
So what can we do?
Good question! Sadly there isn’t loads, but i don’t think that should stop or discourage us.
Leave comments on every official les mis post you see - and constantly! they have been consistently deleting comments with any mention of Jordan’s name as well as even turning off the comments which shows they know exactly what they’re doing.
Send emails! Talk about how disappointed you are in seeing Jordan being removed without any explanation as to why! You can email directly to cammack: [email protected] or you can email the distributors themselves: https://www.warnerclassics.com/contact
And if you’re feeling kind, maybe send Jordan a little message over on instagram! i’m sure he’d appreciate knowing we as a fandom support him and love his Enjolras (if you haven’t seen it, i’d recommend watching this performance from west end live!)
POV: You are Marius entering the back room of the Café Musain
Yes I did use Phoenix Wright as a pose reference. I’ve never played Ace Attorney but it felt appropriate. Happy Barricade day

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another year of #Barricade Week! We’re excited to announce our official prompts for 2026!
Check out our Ao3 Collection here!
Feel free to join in however you're able-- creating fanworks or sharing/ commenting on other people's work are both equally important!
You can also repost old art/fanfic that you have previously shared, especially art/fanfic people might have missed the first time around! And while we've been talking a lot about art and fanfic, ALL fanworks are fair game for this event-- song playlists, literary analysis, video essays, high-effort shitposts, Tiktoks, cosplay, etc!
Follow the prompts if you need ideas, or do whatever you want! Make as many or as few pieces as you would like! For each day, the prompt is to do something relevant to what happens on that day--and (optionally) follow the bonus prompts related to important symbols from that chapter.

I have a feeling that the Amis were too young to actually consider death beforehand.
How painful it must have been to be so hopeful that France would stand up and fight with them, only to be faced with abandonment, the prospect of defeat and likely death.
Most of them, with the exception of Grantaire, were so committed to the idea of a French Republic that they refrained from considering the physical damage that would be inflicted on them in combat.
It is quite distressing for the public when the prospect finally comes to them that they are going die. But in the end, they know that this is what they signed up for, win or die trying.
I think that's why Grantaire's death is so different from others, he didn't die for the idea, for the plan, he allowed himself to die alongside the only people he cared about, they were worth living and dying for.
The others hadn't considered the prospect of dying beforehand, but Grantaire knew of that possibility, he didn't believe in the cause too, and yet he stayed with them for as long as he could.
The legacy of Enjolras' death, and that of the other Amis, is that, "if you are really willing to fight for something, you have to be prepared to bleed" (and perhaps hope that at least your idea will live when you won't, when you die). But Grantaire's legacy is more like "if you love, you have to be willing to bleed" (and maybe that person will realize how you willing to be there for them).
It's about loving, fighting and sacrificing yourself, even if it makes you a misérable. Like everything else in the book.
So last night, I hosted a musical theatre themed drag show, and @victor-frankensimp and I did an Enjoltaire themed drag performance ❤️
If anyone wants to see more clips from it, send me a message or comment! It only lets me add one but trust the whole thing was so good and so much fun

Lyrics! Here u go @lucio-moonschild
For someone so dumb, your words are so pretty
And I’m just a bum, sitting at the feet of
Divinity, are you kidding me,
You really want to fight for our liberty?
Have you seen the state of this place?
I wanna wipe that look off your face
They say it’s devotion, not love
I say no shit
You don’t deserve my devotion or love
I’m sorry I’m still givin it
You’re a god, you’re my god, you’re all I’ve got
And I’m a drunk devotee
You’re Apollo, you’re the sun, you’re the one
of course you don’t put up with me
For someone so drunk, I’m surprised I’m still standing
I guess the floor makes for a pretty soft landing
And you’re commanding
At the front of the room
Light cutting through the gloom / of my heart
And I feel it start
They say it’s devotion, not love
Well what if it’s both?
You don’t deserve my devotion or love
And still I made a silent oath
You’re a god, you’re my god, you’re all I’ve got
And I’m a drunk devotee
You’re Apollo, you’re the sun, you’re the one
of course you don’t put up with me
This is our song
Its r’s song
And im somewhere in the middle of drunk and gone
And you’re saying stupid shit up on your high horse
You’re never content to let history take its course
This ain’t our song
But it’s r’s song
I’m sorry you have to hear it, I won’t make it too long
Cause your hairs like gold, your hearts like gold
And I’m pure lead
When you talk of revolution all I feel is dread
They say it’s devotion, not love
Well what if I don’t care?
You don’t deserve my devotion or love
And yet its still there
You’re a god, you’re my god, you’re all I’ve got
And I’m a drunk devotee
You’re Apollo, you’re the sun, you’re the one
Godammit, of course you don’t put up with me
That's my friend! I know that person! That's my friend's song! I get it stuck in my head and sing it all day long!
