Women’s bodies are often featured naked in magazines such as Vanity Fair. As soon as a female celebrity poses naked or slightly undressed, the media freaks out and she becomes an object less valued and seen as “dirty” by the media and society. This happened to Miley Cyrus when she was just 15 years old and posed showing only her bare back. Emma Watson posed topless and suddenly her feminist identity was brought into question. Both these examples demonstrate how women’s bodies are valued in our society as something to be looked upon and consumed. By recreating these photos with a male model, these standards are put onto the model the same way they are with a female model. However, this goes against norms and flips the script evoking feelings of tension and uneasiness or maybe even humour thus exposing the differences between how male and female nudity are viewed within society.
