sometimes i like AUs where the whole crew survives and gets to meet rocky and everything, but then i start crying because i remember that it was, in fact, meant to be a suicide mission and they only have three months of food, so no matter what happens or the fact that rocky is able to give them the fuel they'll need for the trip back, they'll still end up dying one way or another

have you guys seen that video of the astronaut on the ISS who suspends himself in the middle of the room to show how in 0 gravity, if there's no walls or handholds to propel off of in reach you can get stuck (unlikely and badly explained, but i digress). now, imagine this but ryland grace

during one of rocky's sleep cycles he gets bored and starts experimenting, and somehow manages to get stuck midair with no velocity. he tries to propel himself in any way, but alas, inertia, and anything he could try to grab is juuust out of reach. he just has to. float there. until rocky wakes up, which could be anywhere from 3 1/2 hours to *twelve*. luckily rocky wakes up on the shorter end of the spectrum, but is thoroughly amused when grace explains that, yes, he is stuck, no, he can't get down by himself, yes, please help

imagining grace in his first year of teaching kind of automatically introducing himself as dr. ryland grace bc that's what he's used to. and the kids are like O_O dr? and somebody inevitably googles him and finds a video of his final crashout. and because 13 year olds are little menaces, when he inevitably snaps at the class to sit down and do their work at some point (his classroom management skills need time to develop okay) somebody puts on a little pouty face and goes "dr. grace? you don't.....you don't think i'm a.....a staggering waste of carbon......do you?" and grace's life flashes before his eyes.

and next year he's just mr. grace and doesn't tell any kids his first name so it's harder for them to google him (they manage it anyway).

david szymanski knowing about bloodymary is hilarious to me. imagine you're an indie horror game creator and a crazy popular gaming youtuber plays your game and loves it so much he turns it into a movie, starring himself. despite being self-funded and produced, it achieves a level of success and earnings so big there are articles written about it challenging hollywood. then a few months later a big hollywood movie comes out also set in space and now a large portion of fan content for your game is ship content of the youtuber's character and ryan gosling.
