theyre saying jane asher wrote to paul with love my braincells are actually disintegrating. and anyways lets say she did (she didn't) that doesnt make it less ? that john stole this card, wrote lyrics of if i fell, gave it back to him. hello
I'm fairly certain jane wouldn't have written the card like I don't think she was around the areas they were in when it was written (not 100% on that though I'm not looking things up rn just banking on my memory) but regardless it's john's handwriting. like. it's john's handwriting lmao. I've posted it before comparing it to other things he's written but even just comparing it to the lyrics on the inside, it's the same pen and handwriting
I will never get why people are So resistent to the idea that john wrote that dedication. bc you can honestly so easily explain it as a joke. like that's what I personally think it was- a "joke" where he played up his feelings to hide them. obviously that's speculation, but even if you want to read them 100% platonically you can use that explanation and it fits fine. but to me it seems so likely that he would've written the lyrics, added the dedication, and given it to paul in a dramatic ass flourish yk.

“Q: You were like two sides of the same person? Paul: Well said. But the sides would switch. On the surface, I was very easy-going, always accommodating. That came easy to me. That’s how I’d been brought up. But, at certain times, I would very much be the hard man of the duo. At certain moments, I could bite. But that would be when no one outside the group was watching. John would allow me to take that role because it enabled him to drop his guard and be vulnerable. On the surface, he was this hard, witty guy, always on hand with a cutting witticism. He appeared caustic, even cruel at times. But really he was very soft. John was very insecure. He carried a lot of that from his upbringing, what with his father leaving when he was five. Then, of course, we’d both lost our mothers so we had that in common. Ultimately, we were equals.”
