"For God's sake -- you can't get pasta at Olive Garden without a picture ID! Why not be able to show a picture ID to vote?"
Steve Scalise, House Republican Majority Leader
To be fair, I have not been to Olive Garden in over twenty years. But I do not recall having to show any ID to buy a meal there. Perhaps things have changed…
📌I see Republicans are somehow trying to make eating pasta at Olive Garden a voter ID talking point. OK ... Then I suggest Democrats remi
While American Jews are slightly more likely to see criticism or protest of Israel as antisemitic than the rest of the population, we are also significantly more likely to say those are *not* antisemitic, by large majorities.
When AIPAC or Dem Majority for Israel or any of their shell groups try to act as if criticism of Israel is antisemitic, just know that:
70% of American Jews do not think criticism of Israel is antisemitic, while only 20% do.
68% of American Jews do not think criticism of the IDF is antisemitic, while only 25% do.
49% of American Jews do not think protesting events that tangentially support Israel is antisemitic, while only 38% do.
AIPAC speaks for a minority of conservative Jews (who are only around 15-20% of the American Jewish population) and powerful billionaire donors, a good number of whom aren't even Jewish. It is time once and for all to end this vile lie that Israel=Jew and that all or even a majority of Jews support the apartied and genocide of the modern Israel occupation.
Not getting a ton of reporting in US news, but the Trump administration is going after donors to Palestine, including going as far as international extradition under the guide of "counterterrorism"
So this is hell. I'd never have believed it. You remember all we were told about the torture-chambers, the fire and brimstone, the 'burning
"The idea of creating and enslaving an artificial god is so attractive to them because it allows them to realize the fascist dream, in which every whim of their cult leader is instantaneously translated into action – without having to pass through the filter of skilled people who understand how things work."

Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!
For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!
Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!

its so awkward when people ask me why i dropped out and i have to be like "inadequate disability support" bc no one wants to hear this. they're always like i thought they had to provide that though isn't it the law? girl you might want to sit down i have some bad news about the litigation-based enforcement of the americans with disabilities act
then if i do say that theyre like, couldnt you sue? well theoretically maybe but not without spending more money than i have and putting myself through absolute hell. so no. no i can't.
it’s just this
