I'm always here for AUs in which Alastor accepted Vox's offer, but I'm convinced they would still have a hilarious dynamic because Alastor is

a petty diva with very clear ideas of what he wants

so very proud he will never ever ask for anything even if it would make things much easier

always trying to get entertainment from people (even Vox. Especially Vox)

secretive to the point of complete mystery

While Vox is

a control freak with eyes everywhere all over Hell

utterly whipped a show off who loves to impress his lovers

unable to stop and think of consequences or whether his actions are reasonable once he gets his mind set on proving something to Alastor

More stubborn than an entire herd of goats

So even after becoming partners, whenever Alastor wants something that he can't just take for himself, he doesn't ask Vox anything. He doesn't even tell him he wants something. But he makes sure Vox knows, and Vox then gets determined to find out what Alastor wants AND to provide it to his deer.

But Alastor doesn't make it easy. He hides, and Vox spies, and he sneaks, and Vox stalks, and he saunters away, and Vox chases after him. Vox bribes, threatens, attacks, defends, buys, sells, makes deals and unmakes them, all to figure out Alastor's mysterious desires and then offer them on a silver plate, looking smug that he beat the Radio Demon at his own game but also eagerly waiting for praise.

And Alastor is delighted! He's having a lot of fun playing this game with Vox, and while he doesn't do it *everytime* he's after something (he's still a big boy who can kill his own victims thank you very much), escaping Vox's mania is a challenge that gives him a whole other kind of thrill.

Your dialogue is stiff because everyone is being too honest

Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people

dodge questions

answer indirectly

lie (badly)

change the subject

crack jokes to avoid serious answers

lie (convincingly)

say half of what they mean

tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying

If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.

Subtext is where tension lives.

S2 Vox is so fucking funny. Genuinely competent, charismatic, and powerful, with the single glaring exception of losing his entire mind whenever he’s in a room with Alastor. So obviously he immediately cuts a deal which means Alastor will be in the room for every step of his grand plan. Psychosexual obsession barely covers this shit. Fucking amazing.

I feel like with the new ~fandom drama~ or whatever going around, I should re-introduce my favorite theory of fandom, which I call the 1% Theory.

Basically, the 1% Theory dictates that in every fandom, on average, 1% of the fans will be a pure, unsalvageable tire fire. We’re talking the people who do physical harm over their fandom, who start riots, cannot be talked down. The sort of things public news stories are made of. We’re not talking necessarily bad fans here- we’re talking people who take this thing so seriously they are willing to start a goddamn fist fight over nothing. The worst of the worst.

The reason I bring this up is because the 1% Theory ties into an important visual of fandom knowledge- that bigger fandoms are always perceived as “worse”, and at a certain point, a fandom always gets big enough to “go bad”. Let me explain.

Say you have a small fandom, like 500 people- the 1% Theory says that out of those 500, only 5 of them will be absolute nutjobs. This is incredibly manageable- it’s five people. The fandom and world at large can easily shut them out, block them, ignore their ramblings. The fandom is a “nice place”.

Now say you have a medium sized fandom- say 100,000 people. Suddenly, the 1% Theory ups your level of calamity to a whopping 1000 people. That’s a lot. That’s a lot for anyone to manage. It is, by nature of fandom, impossible to “manage” because no one owns fan spaces. People start to get nervous. There’s still so much good, but oof, 1000 people.

Now say you have a truly massive fandom- I use Homestuck here because I know the figures. At it’s peak, Homestuck had approximately FIVE MILLION active fans around the globe.

By the 1% Theory, that’s 50,000 people. Fifty THOUSAND starting riots, blackmailing creators, contributing to the worst of the worst of things.

There’s a couple of important points to take away here, in my opinion.

1) The 1% will always be the loudest, because people are always looking for new drama to follow.

2) Ultimately, it is 1%. It is only 1%. I can’t promise the other 99% are perfect, loving angels, but the “terrible fandom” is still only 1% complete utter garbage.

3) No fandom should ever be judged by their 1%. Big fandoms always look worse, small fandoms always look better. It’s not a good metric.

So remember, if you’re ever feeling disheartened by your fandom’s activity- it’s just 1%, people. Do your part not to be a part of it.

Possible Radiostatic Fallout Timeline

This is the Radiostatic fallout timeline I have picked up from reading others theories, merch drops and analyzing the evidence the show has given us so far:

1933: Alastor dies

1933-1951: Alastor kills overloads and broadcasts screams, becomes most powerful in hell

1952: Vincent dies

1955ish: They become friends(reasoning for this date further down).

1958-1960: The flashback scene at the bar happens. Vox hasn’t changed his head yet so it’s still the 50s, but they’ve been “close for a few years” at that point. Alastor “puts him in his place” but I don’t think this is where it ends.They remain in contact with each other.

Sometime between 1981-1985: Valentino dies

1985: Vox and Valentino partner up

Alastor did not like this, the rift between them grows.

Sometime between 1985-2017(reasoning for this date further down): Alastor gets into the fight with Val and Vox and loses(cause Vox can never fight him alone, he had Val as backup). The fight has something to do with Val saying Alastor “owes us a lot more than money” in Season 1. Don’t know what that’s about yet.

This is where it gets tricky, cause the pilot came out in 2019 but the show came out on Prime in 2024. So Alastor was either gone from 2012-2019 or 2017-2024. However, Vox says he’s been wanting to know how Alastor became so powerful for almost 70 years:

2025-70=1955 This makes sense as to when they possibly became friends

2019-70=1949 This is too early, Vox isn’t even dead yet

So, to me, it makes more sense that the shows timeline aligns with its release on Prime. So Alastor is gone from 2017-2024.

The rest is where we pick up in the show.

My theory is Vox and Alastor did not completely fall out until after 1985. Meaning they were some level of friends from 1955-1985ish (30ish years). This means they’ve been rivals from 1985ish-2025(40ish years). Vox has been pining for almost 70 years, but they’ve only been “broken up” for 40 years(the time he’s been with Val).

I’m understanding the “sad and complicated” description very well now.
